Wasn't sure where to post this mods so please move if inappropriate.

"Former football star Lawrence Phillips was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison, two years after he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon.

The sentencing was repeatedly delayed while Phillips fought to withdraw a guilty plea in a domestic abuse case that could have led to a stiffer sentence.

Phillips was convicted in 2006 of seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The 31-year-old former Nebraska running back has been jailed since August 2005, when he drove onto a field near Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and his car struck two boys, ages 14 and 15, and a 19-year-old man, who suffered cuts and bruises. The car narrowly missed four other people.

He was upset over losing a pickup football game to the youths, prosecutors said.

In court, Phillips tearfully apologized to one of the victims.

“I’m sorry that your leg is messed up,” Phillips told Rodney Flores, after hearing the young man tell the court that he was unable to pursue his dream of playing high school sports as a result of being hit when he was 16.

“I’m sorry you have to come in here like this,” Phillips said, adding that he “wanted the chance to say I didn’t mean to hurt people.”

That guy has always been an accident that's already happened. Rest of the story in the link below.

All that talent wasted. I don't know if I should feel sorry for him or not, but I will pray for him.

That was actually LEONARD Little...Big difference.
One was an All-World guard for the Dolphins and key for opening holes for Mercury Morris, Jim Kiick and Larry Csonka.

The other did indeed kill somebody while drunk, plays for the Rams and has under-achieved. I believe he also has a couple of run ins for domestic violence

Issue with Phillips is he has been in trouble with the law for a decade. He has more records than does Dan Marino. Unfortunately for Phillips, all his records are against the law

I think youre looking at this the wrong way.. Phillips hit three people with his car... IMO 10 years isnt enough. We shouldnt be debating LP's sentence... its the "punishment" of lynch that we should be discussing in this case... he's the one who's gotten off scott free and hasnt had to pay for his crimes...

As much as I HATE the JILLS and I do, with all due respect, there were SERIOUS credibility issues in regards to the pedestrian that Lynch hit. I believe she had been involved in a handfull of hit and run's or something of that nature.

Good post  Phillips burned his bridges while he was in Miami for getting charged with assaulting a women in a nightclub and responding to her denials with "I'm Laurence Phillips!" That guy has no respect for anybody, and I hope he doesn't get it in prison, 'cause they don't care what you did on the outside. Also, he'll probably get hated on more because he had such a bright future that he totally blew away.

i agree 100% with the fact phillips shouldv'e gotten a longer sentence and that something was definately wrong with the sentence that marshawn got. i find it crazy that the sentencings can be so different for different people and possibly the mood of the judge at sentencings. whether you shoot a guy or you shoot a gun and some scmoe jumps in front of the bullet..to me you still shot a person. but i guess we have to look at all sides/evidence as there is a big difference from cold-blooded/self-defense.

i had not known that the person marshawn hit jumped in front on purpose but how do we know this particular time was intentional on the "victims" part? the boy cried wolf all the time but that one time..
