Seems wildly low risk for a guy that once was pretty good, isn't that old, and is playing on an offense that doesn't demand that anything crazy from their tight ends. Plus he wanted to be here which is a nice bonus

I wouldn't call it a potential disaster. Granted, I'm not high on the move, but only a conditional sixth round pick was traded for him and the contract he signed is only worth up to $5 million. It's a pretty low risk.
Yeah but its not even that big of a deal if he never even plays. Would we actually feel better about trading a real asset for a year of Kyle Pitts?

Agree on the Grier special, the guy loves to gamble. In some cases I agree with him in this case at least it’s low risk but not really inspiring. Maybe Tanner Connor or Julian Hill are the real deal, bad thing is they thought the same of Skylar Thompson last year, so I guess we’ll see…
I'm not concerned about the cost. Trading 6th and 7th round picks is fine. But I doubt that he pans out at all, and worry now that Grier feels like he's done and we're set at tight end, even though we likely have next to nothing at the position.
Even knowing the picks are as low as they are ... it still feels like an overpay for a dude who wanted to rap and diss his ex more than play football, hasn't been healthy in years and hasn't been good even longer than that. Tight end feels like the new guard for this team where we just don't seem to give an eff and refuse to spend money and are super happy with injury prone, one-dimensional or flat out bad players. Meh
Its low risk high reward… hell if he sucks he gets cut. if he pans out, there hasnt been a more wide open seam route for him with waddle and tyreek running go routes
Came to laugh. You can't bank on players who can't stay healthy and retired, to be on the field much. If he makes it through camp I'll be surprised. Wasting time, resources, energy on this type of player is foolish.
Pulling an injury-prone player out of retirement? Grier is living his dream signing. I'm hoping against hope that it works out though. What else can a fan do?
At this point I'm hoping that Pharoah Brown blocks really well and Achane continues to develop into the best receiving back in the league while Wright takes over the heavy load carrying the ball.
Waller thrived under Frank Smith in Vegas. They remained good friends and he would only come out of retirement to play under him. Waller is still in ridiculous shape and has fresh legs. I expect a career resurgence, especially with Tua throwing him the ball. We complained about a lack of a big physical threat for years and that middle seam is going to be open.
You have to take his time with the Giants with a grain of salt. That offense was dysfunctional as could be.
If he were in his late 20s and hadn't taken the year off, I'd have more hope. At 33 with rust, I think the ask is high. There were only a handful of players even catching passes at that age in the league last year.
He was better with the Giants then peoples memories are telling them anyway. I think you would be thrilled if he could be that for Miami.
