The draft will get underway in less than two weeks and the biggest thing left on the NFL’s offseason schedule once that is in the books is the schedule release.

NFL vice president of broadcast planning and scheduling Mike North shed some light on when that will happen this week. During an appearance on the It’s Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast, North said that “somewhere in the May 13, 14, 15 range is probably still our target” for releasing the schedule.

North said the timing of the draft is the biggest reason to wait for the schedule release and that they will take “a week or so to react and adjust” to what happens in Green Bay — and what Aaron Rodgers might decide to do — before finalizing the schedule.

“Of the benefits of going a little bit later with schedule release is getting a chance to see what happens in the draft,” North said. “What do any of us know, but I think we kind of a feel for the top couple of picks. But are there some trades gonna happen? Still waiting on a future Hall of Fame quarterback to sign somewhere maybe this year. Hopefully a lot of that is known by draft day.”

In recent years, the league has primed the pump by announcing international, holiday or other standalone games in the days leading up to the full release. May 15 is a Thursday and picking that day would give the NFL a chance to use the whole week to turn attention toward the 2025 season.

I hate that its been pushed back a full month from where it used to be. There is probably no team in North American pro sports where the schedule - what date and what time of day - is more important than the Dolphins. The wrong one can wreck the season months before it starts.

You could argue Seattle for the same reasons lol. But yeah geography can be rough for the Phins. Really wish we were in a more southern division. Makes no sense to be tromping up to the NY/NE area three times a year.

Well, Seattle isn't based in a tropical climate and then damned with having three divisional rivals in cold weather cities, they just have a lot of travel, and two of their three rivals play indoors. The NFC in general is also a lot more forgiving to teams that aren't in cold climates, with more than half the teams either indoors and/or warm weather. Only really four potentially cold cities compared to nine in the AFC.

Surely, the draft will bring more activity. We already have a guy hoping for Will Johnson to fall to Miami even though he has cried for years that Grier only drafts injury prone players.

I'm sure when Tua puts out that first training video, you will have something to nitpick about it.

    We're almost there!

    awww poor Tua.

Tua in the wall street journal and objecting to the perception that gen Z’ers are soft

“Tua Tagovailoa, the 27-year-old quarterback of the Miami Dolphins, wants to throw out his generation’s reputation for being soft. Good thing he has a strong arm.

He says it’s a misconception that Gen Zers, people born from 1997 to 2012 who were raised with safe spaces and trigger warnings, can’t handle harsh realities.”

“Leadership traditionally looked like someone who had the demeanor of authority and demanded respect, and I just don’t think in this generation that works,” he says. “When I get called out for something, I want to know it’s coming from a good place.”

“Tagovailoa says boating, golfing and playing guitar are important to him.

“I need time to focus on myself outside of my profession,” he says. “I feel I’ve worked hard enough to enjoy what I’ve worked hard for—not to the extent of going overboard but to the extent of relaxing and finding myself again.”

“He argues off-field pursuits help him avoid burnout and make him a better quarterback than he would be if he devoted all his energy to exercising and studying game film.”

Doesn’t sound like a guy putting in a mere 10-12 hours a week during an 8 month hiatus for 55 mill a year.

For his sake he better be

Good grief. From the greatest generation to the candy *** generation in less than 100 years.

Hey as long as he’s putting in a couple hours a day I’m good with his other interests.

just not sure if that the case
