Kiffin is likely getting canned, per rotoworld.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Raiders have called a Tuesday afternoon press conference, leading to speculation that coach Lane Kiffin will be fired.
Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan would seemingly be the obvious choice to replace Kiffin, but owner Al Davis reportedly spent Monday interviewing various members of the offensive staff.

Its official. Kiffin got the axe. I'm thinking James Lofton gets the interim job. Look for Kiffin to go to Syracuse at the end of college football season.

Ryan's defense is the reason they lost a few games with leads.

    Davis is clueless.

I really feel for Kiffen, but on the bright side, he wont have to deal with the Maniacal Grannie owner anymore.

I still think he is a very good coach and some team (Perhaps college as was mentioned) will benefit from this.

There must be some rule that says an owner can't coach a team because otherwise he would be doing it. He looks like a 21st century Ebenezer Scrooge sitting up in the owner's box just waiting to yell at people when the game is over. I hope they suck till he dies.:shifty:

I heard he was doing it to make Davis mad and get him fired.

Yeah I think he's a good coach as well. I question his and the OC's playcalling but he was working with a Quarterback whose still basically a rookie because of a boneheaded holdout. I only know one guy in that organization that does and listens to everything Al Davis says and that's Ryan the DC. That organization has a lot of internal troubles though. I know Warren Sapp was saying a lot of negative things about the organization and saying how it was hell. Mike Lombardi who I respect a whole lot was a personnel guy in the organization for a while and he was saying how every Monday morning, every player and staff member was worried about their job. To top it off, Davis doesn't contact with the personnel at all. He comes in at 4PM, which is when the staff members and others leave the facilities. Davis does everything at home and then just shows up when they're all gone. There has been a lot of uncertainty in that organization for quite a while and that needs to be changed. The opponent is the opposing team, not your own team and I don't think they realize that in Oakland.

On ESPN radio they said that Davis is trying to do the same thing with Kiffin that he did with Shanahan where he fired him but refused to honor the contract. Eventually Davis lost, of course.

Sucks for kiffin. It seems he had that organization heading at least in the right direction. The team is improving, its really their defense that has let them down. He's done a good job in developing Russel... personally, this whole firing is personal for davis/kiffin. its too bad really. Kiffin will coach again in the nfl, and probably will do a damn good job. And if the raiders don't pay out his contract... thats pretty pathetic on their part IMO

I'm VERY interested to see how Lane Kiffin reacts. It seems to me that Al Davis has everything documented on Lane.

Way to bring in Monte Kiffin lol. All these things that Al Davis makes Kiffin look bad but it makes him look bad as well. He's the one who hired Kiffin.

davis is officially the MDO of the NFL...Most discombobulated owner.

He finally hired a competent coach who was making some progress and now they can him. At least be smart enough to give the job to your OL coach who has been stellar.

I sit here and laugh. I knew this was coming. As I told everyone, Kiffin WAS trying to get fired. He detests Al Davis and wants to take his money (and rightfully so). Davis refusing to pay him will not go over so well with the coaches union. When he did it to Shanahan, there was no union so I am pretty sure that Al will get raked across the coals for this one.

Also, to this day, Al has not paid Shanahan. Even though the ruling was that he had to, he hasn't. I can't confirm it, but I am pretty sure Kiffin has already had conversations with Shanahan on how to handle this whole thing...Gruden too.

I think the minority owners in the Raiders need to seriosuly think about replacing Davis somehow as the figurehead and President. He is doing no good for them or the franchise.

The ultimate irony will be for Kiffin to eventually take over for Herm Edwards (who may be next on the chopping block) and stick it to the Raiders by building them up as well. Then Al can watch in horror as the Broncos (with former head coach Shanahan), Chargers (with former head coach Turner) and the Chiefs (with former head coach Kiffin) all kick their teeth in each and every time they play them.

Lane Kiffin just got his merict badge for head coaching in the NFL today. His respect has grown around the league tremendously.

edit: Just so people have an understanding of what kind of "loyalty" Al Davis has. Not too long ago, an employee of his for 30+ years past away. His funeral was held at the complex and had hundreds of fans/players/coaches both current and former attend the services. Those who could not attend, sent video tributes (including players like Jeff George, Rich Gannon Jerry Rice and others). All expressed their gratitude and respect for the man. Marcus Allen went as far as to request that the facilities, or part of them at least, be named after this man.

The only person who did not send a video tribute or show up that was of any prominence was Al F'N Davis. I know because I was their with the daughter and son of the man who passed away. They were confused and heartbroken by his seemingly who cares attitude towards his loyal employee. He is a scumbag and has quickly erased any and all goodwill he was afforded for his pioneering in the league with a series of rash and terrible decisions that have helped set the league back over and over and over again.

Raiders will be a joke as long as Al Davis is still alive. Raiders fans are basically in a position where they have to root for Davis to die. Which probably isnt a moral issue for most Raider fans lol.

Sam nailed it with the Kiffen to KC comment.

Another thing to think about, who in their right mind is going to coach the Raiders now.

Davis is a scumbag that has this coming.

Actually, truth be told, I would coach them in a heartbeat. I would do whatever Davis told me to do and smile I as I robbed him blind cashing my paychecks.

Honestly, can anyone make an argument for me NOT to coach them? Kiffin won fives games in two years...I trained monkey can do that.

    Which proves two things:

    1. Trained monkeys are pretty cool and,

    2. Cam Cameron < trained monkeys

    Yeah but heres the clincher(s).

You have to smile while Davis gives it to you wearing that old raggedy, nasty sweater he wears. And of course he is going to scream obcenities to you in that Granny voice

The checks are ALL going to bounce.

They're all going to laugh at you.

I love it in the video how he talkes about how much impute Kiffen had on the D and such..... And then later talks about how Kiffen chose to sit a certain player on D when in fact he didn't have authority to do so.

well I can't really add anything because everything I wanted to say as already been said. I like Lane Kiffin and really hope he gets another chance somewhere and shoves it down Al Davis' throat.
