It utterly astounds me that so many folks truly believe the Dolphins would be a better team with "this" or "that" quarterback instead of Tua. You all do realize that we would still have the same sh1t offensive line that couldn't block tic-tac-toe, don't you?

You have no idea how Herbert would have done behind this line. He could have been injured just like Tua has (and he has been in SD). Your Chrystal Ball must be miraculous.

Herbert has been hit 60x and Tua has been hit 11x while passing this season.

Some of you really don't get it.

He'd have two seconds to throw a quick screen or slant. His deep ball would be non existent.

We'd definitely be better with Burrow. His performance behind an absolute crap OL in the playoffs, taking the Bengals to the SB, shows he's a notch above Tua or Herbert. However, Burrow would likely miss a similar number of games as Tua, so complaints about Tua's availability would translate to Burrow. Herbert performance-wise isn't better than Tua anyway so we definitely wouldn't be better with him, except for availability. But Herbert does really poorly against good teams too, so that criticism applies to him also.

Cincinnati’s crap OL in blocking for Burrow doesn’t equate the the Dolphins crap offensive line.

    How so?

The 2021 Bengals, the year they went to the dance rushed for 1742 yards, averaging 4 yards a carry. The Dolphins rushed for 1500 and some change an averaging 3.3 yards a carry.

Cincinnati’s OL could at least block for their running backs, taking some pressure off Burrow.

Cinci's OL was worse than anything we've had with Tua. The most sacks Tua ever suffered in a game is 6. Burrow in that almost miraculous SB run in the 2021 season beat the #1 Titans despite being sacked 9 times!!! Then in the SB he was sacked 7 times and still put up a 100.9 rating.

Burrow > Tua for precisely that reason. He's one of those rare QBs that can overcome a bad OL, like Russell Wilson did in his SB run.

Other QB's get pressure often. Those QB's are mobile and get away from the pressure often. I very seldom see a QB sit back there for several seconds without pressure.

2 years 20 million for a guy that is very likely an all pro player .. we missed badly by letting him walk.. should have been extended the season prior.. now hes getting a massive extension this offseason and good for him

Things can get ugly real quick

I’m not sure I believe this. Grier is an idiot, but he’s not in charge of contracts. There’s enough evidence that Minny tampered and AVG jumped on the offer. His wife posted on X about 2 hours after the legal tampering period that they had purchased a home while writing “We’re headed back home”. Then after, and I’m sure in order to cover his ***, AVG posted on X “I’m still looking for this house we supposedly purchased in Minnesota.
That’s not saying that Miami wasn’t dumb in that they didn’t try to lock him up sooner.

Yeah Herbert = choker. There's no defending him after this performance. Two choke performances in a row in the playoffs. Grier picked the right QB.

I’m waiting to see the goalpost moving for this one. Until his “stat padding” TD throw in “garbage time”, his passer rating was something like 15-20. Lmao

I'm anxious to see how Jordan Love performs next. If he balls out and pulls out a win tonight I'm sure some of the ghosts will show up for the conversation.

Well, Love “backed into the playoffs”, can’t win in Dec. and the cold (went 2-3 in Dec. and 0-2 in their last 2), passed for only 225 yards per game (I was told that having “only” 260 yards per game means you suck), and finished 20th in completions with a 96 passer rating.

I think Philly beat the Pack.

Same. Philly is just the better overall team and I don't think it's particularly close. The health of Hurts vs the health of Love will be the big factor. Both have been banged up with Hurts just coming off concussion protocol and Love injuring his elbow last week. If one plays significantly worse it opens the door for the other team, but if both play well, the Eagles' talent wins out imo.

Better than Herbert’s. I mean, in Tua’s only playoff game, in -20F weather in KC, the difference between Tua’s and Mahomes play was one INT.

Tua is 0-1 against the SB winning KC Chiefs (the best team in the league that year) with a 1 TD, 1 INT game and a 63.9 rating. A poor performance for sure, but nothing as bad as "choke master" Herbert who is now 0-2 in the playoffs, both times choking against weaker opposition (unless miraculously Houston goes on to win the SB this year) and throwing 4 INTs including a pick 6 with a 40.9 rating in arguably the most important game he's played in his career.

No question Tua > Herbert in the playoffs, which is really important if you want to win the SB.

Add to this discussion that in the playoff game last season against the Chiefs, Mahomes posted a passer rating of 83.59, so it’s not like Mahomes was lighting things up and Tua was a frozen popsicle on the field. Both posted well below average passer ratings in that game.

Exactly, I’ve said this many times, but I’ll write it again, the difference between Mahomes and Tua in that game was 1 INT. Putting that into perspective, Mahomes (possibly the GOAT) is a seasoned playoff vet and SB winning QB, and had the luxury of playing with a healthy and the #1 defense that year.

Mahomes did not have to do more for his team to win. Tua did have to do more and he did not.

Exactly the point. Tua needs to be perfect every game for the Dolphins to even have a chance to win. That's not the case for other quarterbacks.

Mahomes was at home facing a defense filled with guys signed off their couch. Tua was on the road facing the best defense in the NFL.

You're not making a good argument here at all. I'm pretty sure Mahomes did as much as he could do. If we were shut out do you think Mahomes would stop trying after their first score?

There isn't a big enough sample size to make any determination about Herbert and the playoffs yet. Same with Tua. No one should be surprised if one or both make and play well next year.

Not sure you can understand. The Chiefs did not have to do anything drastic to win the game. Basically, all they had to do was not screw up. That is how they played the game.
