That's bad if he can't play. Only thing going for Huntley is we're facing 3-12 Cleveland. If we miss the playoffs, it's not a stretch to say it was due to Tua not being smart about diving head first when he already had the first down in that Buffalo game. Got to play smarter. We need a good backup QB next year.
Tua was our backup quarterback in fantasy football. Our starter? Jalen Hurts. We had the foresight to pickup an insurance option, Drake Maye. This news was announced just after the 1pm New England v. chargers game started. FML.
That absolutely sucks the sweat off of a camel’s flea infested balls!!! Tuanon is right, if Denver wins, no sense in playing Tua…nor Bradley Chubb for that matter. And if Tua doesn’t play and we lose tomorrow, hopefully…HOPEFULLY that will be the final nail in Grier’s coffin.
Just read this happended with once again not sliding against Texans and then reaggravating against 49ers.
I'm not crying over spilt milk. If Denver wins it means nothing. If Denver loses he'll be playing tomorrow.
I wouldn’t be opposed to signing someone like Tannehill as Tua’s backup however, the offensive line has to be THE priority in the off-season.
Tannehill is Over-the-hill. He had a 78.5 rating last year and isn't even good enough to be a backup. Worse, he's not a fit for this system. Either we sign an average QB as backup or we draft one by round 4. OL and defense are priorities, not just OL. Need a few key pieces on defense to be really good.
It was still the right decision. There wasn't a better option at QB. If we got rid of Tua our biggest hole would be at QB, and we might spend the next 20 years finding someone as good as Tua. Just have to mitigate the risk by putting greater emphasis into finding a good backup, giving Tua better protection, and making sure Tua learns to play smarter.
Wild game. I see you posted that at the time the Bengals kicker hit the goalpost lol. Man he's lucky the Bengals won. We're still in it! Biggest hurdle is Indy losing one, against the Giants or Jaguars.
Yea imagine going back to.that locker room. It was funny though they said yea dude no second chance for you.
Flacco and the Colts are going to lose to the Giants tomorrow. It's going to be wet and rainy and the Giants can still rush the passer. This was potentially a back breaking game for a young Denver team. I can't see the Chiefs sitting Mahomes for 20+ days before playing again. Who knows. Maybe Tua can man up and play tomorrow.
I hope you’re right about the Colts/Giants game however, I can definitely see the Chiefs sitting their starters next week. That game is completely meaningless! I’d love to see the Chiefs starts play maybe the first quarter or first half, but I doubt that’s going to happen.
If he received the offer, I bet he'd sign since he still lives in Miami. But he's not a fit for this offense and we don't have the line to keep him upright. It's a terrible fit for everyone involved. As for the playoff hunt, we could possibly win without Tua if we can get the running game going. I wouldn't feel very confident in our chances though.
From the little I've read this year (haven't followed football much), the Giants are tanking in a very obvious way. They lost by 3 to the Saints and Panthers, while being blown out in every other game the past few months. They haven't won since October 7th. I hope you're right and they rally for a day...stranger things have happened. They do seem like a historically bad team though.
They play banged up Nabors every week even though they probably shouldn't so they definitely aren't trying to lose they just really suck.
The only reason I brought up Tannehill is because I think we need an established quarterback as our backup. Bridgewater, Brissett, White, Thompson...none of them ever established quarterbacks to long term experience and past success. It wouldn't have to be TANNEHILL, but someone in that category, that's been in the league for at least 10 years and had playoff success. Gotta have someone that can come in off the bench and not have to be very concerned due to his experience.
Bad move to play him today if they do.He gets hit on the hip again you might lose him again for next season.Doesn’t seem worth it for a more than likely scenario you aren't going to make the playoffs.Even if they did this team isn't beating anyone.
Brissett and Teddy would have been considered a couple of the better backups at the time they were signed. You would be lucky to find one or two QB that fits what you are asking for. The team shouldn't anything that extreme if McDaniel is worth anything
When it first happened two weeks ago against Houston it was a bruised hip and had nothing to do with the injury from college. I agree we should be cautious but if he's out there today I would doubt there's anything more serious than a bruise. If we still have a shot at the playoffs and he doesn't play that would concern me more about what's going on with Tua's hip.
He said last week before 49ers games it's going to be hard to make it through the game with pain he has. Then he got hit while standing in the pocket. If he went from questionable to doubtful my guess is it's worse than he is letting on.If he has no mobility noway you can play him. He is not a durable guy as it is.
I’ve had soft tissue injuries before and I suspect that’s what Tua’s injury is…soft tissue. That crap hurts and takes a while to before it feels better. The thing that sucks though, is other than anti inflammatories and rest, there’s really nothing more that can be done to accelerate the healing process.
It's so bad that we have to talk about sitting our QB cause we don't want to lose him for next season. This is asinine.
Considered by who? The same people telling me that Tua is elite. Haha But seriously, no one should have expected either of those guys to be good, they wouldn't have been available if they were.
If we were out of the playoffs this wouldn't be a big deal but our chances of making it now are far from a miracle at this point. Especially if the Colts lose to the Giants before our game starts. It's very possible Denver loses next week and that just leaves Indy to move past. Tua should be out on the field unless there's something more serious going on here we don't know about.
Yeah, he needs to play. If we seriously sit him for fear of losing him, then we need to just move on. I grew up with coaches saying you can't play scared...you can't play to not get hurt. When you play like that, that's when you get hurt.
Backup QBs are bad and people just don't understand that. I don't even understand your point about them being available. Backups don't get locked up long term so why wouldn't they be available? Obviously they aren't starter quality. The league doesn't even have 32 starter quality QBs. And these are two QBs who are still considered valuable. Brissett starts games every year and Teddy is back to being the backup on one of the best teams.
Because Pumpdog is the authority on Tua and where you should get your information so you can over-react to a message board post. Total comedy.
He needs to play even though you don’t know the extent of an injury? Hell I want him to play but by your insistence that a player, any player should play with an injury they can’t just to try and win a game is somewhat disturbingly unempathitic on a very base level.
