The team currently sucks so naturally everyone is upset.... As you should be. Some apologise for it. Some make excuses Some still believe we are winning the superbow. All of that is fine... We can forget about that for a minute. Now there seems to be endless arguing about Tua on here. Any criticism of any kind starts a message board meltdown that splits this place in half. So for the record I am not saying Tua is a bad QB... or a bad person... I did see people showing some of the stats of Mahomes that are merely average since they traded Tyreek Hill away... And to a point that is a fun conversation. But if we are going to go down that road.... Let's open the windows and take a look all around outside while we drive. (So as to avoid tunnel vision.) All Mahomes does is win... With Tyreek, without Tyreek.... He is on pace to break almost all of the all time passing records... We can argue about surrounding talent... luck... health.... fate.... where jupiter is in conjunction with mars??? Does not matter... All he does is win. If you want the perfect example... This past week.... After injuring his ankle... He comes back into the game hopping around on one foot...in the absolute pouring rain... their number one receiver is out... Their number one running back is out...He is out there avoiding a sack... hopping around buying time... like he is going to run the ball... and at the last second when the defender commits to coming up to stop him improvises and throws an almost underhanded lob ball to the wide open running back in the end zone. No excuses... only victory. Despite not having a QB rating of 120 something... not throwing for 4 touchdowns or 400 yards... He went out there and won the game when it mattered... He improvised and created a successful play that is in no play book. Now in a game like the Dolphins just lost to the Bills... I have heard the defence that Tua did not have the ball last so it is not his fault... Okay that is one way to look at it... If that is the way you feel then it is time to revisit the discussions to fire the head coach for terrible time managment and field position. Because we seem to be getting beat late frequently... So this is a problem that better coaching could improve. Tua played mistake free football... for the most part against the bills and he needs to be commended for that. But as well as he played... He did not show an inkling of the ability to extend and create plays all by himself. Now to be fair... not a ton of QB's can do this at a high level.... Rodgers in his prime... Mahomes... We are talking about really special QB's... all time greats But if Tua is going to continue to be on a team owned by maybe the worst owner in sports, with the worst GM in the NFL and a head coach that gets outsmarted and maneuvered on a weekly basis... Tua playing mistake free football is not going to be enough. And it is time to accept that. Accept that Tua is good, but not good enough to get this team or franchise with the current set up to the superbowl. After 25 years of no playoff wins... Grier being here for 20+ of those years... We are here at this board in a place where only a handful of people will openly say Grier is terrible and needs to be fired... Some here still defend him. This is season 3 of McD with a roster where Tua has been surrounded by elite talent... The team is 22-20... The team was 9-8 when Flores was fired... So almost three years later we are no better off.. than the day Flores was fired. I used the term game manager for tua and it upset half of the board... Well when Tua cannot throw the ball to Tyreek Hill and let him do magical things with the football... We saw dink and dunk... 10 of 25 passes to the running backs... dump offs. it was not horrible...The running game was rolling so we moved the ball well enough to score multiple touchdowns. But the term game manager in that situation fit... and fit well. He was forced to not make mistakes... dump off...short high percentage passes... be smart with the ball... It is not a harsh criticism... and against some teams that would be enough to get the victory. But game manager fits because when you take away Tua's top play makers in the offence he is not the guy.. with the game on the line... hobbling around avoiding the sack on one leg.. in a torrential downpour who improvises... fakes a run... gets the defender to commit and then makes a perfect unconvential throw to the back wide open in the end zone. 5 years in this league and Tua is not that guy.... That is why he is a game manager. Does that mean Tua cannot win in the playoffs or a superbowl... I hope not... But if we want a different result then we need a head coach that does the little things right... Wins the field position battle... Manages the clock and timeouts so that we get the ball with a chance to win and timeouts when needed... No stupid penalties like delay of game.. .too many men... A head coach that can make in game adjustments... If we want a different result we need a different GM..... Less bad trades.... Less bad contracts... More in house developed talent via the draft. With a slightly improved roster and a better coach maybe Tua can have a shot beating top teams in the post season. It is clear with three years of the current regime that there is no chance of anything better than mediocrity. I guess I am calling for everyone to stop fighting and accept what is. This is a team that is not going to the next level... We are not capable of beating the Ravens or Chiefs in the post season... We are not even capable of winning our division or being a lock to make the playoffs. It is time to accept that. So when someone talks about what needs to happen to improve the team... Half of the board does not attack because of a constructive criticism. Talking about Tua's health or record against winning teams is not a call to arms... (for all out message board warfare) it is valid conversation for anyone that actually gives a damn about this franchise. If we can get on the same page and accept that the ultimate goal is winning the superbowl and not 8 games this season.... I feel like we would all be better for it. Sorry for the long rant.... Cheers.
All joking aside... If you feel differently or have something specific to point out about my post... Please have at it.... Posting that i should get help does not really contribute to this discussion.
Thank you for this incoherent ramble and regurgitation of everything you have posted in different threads.
At this point and time I’m willing at the end of the season to let Grier go, however, still collecting data on McDaniel. after last weeks performance personally I have to see the rest of the season play out before making a flat out decision to move on from the Qb and head coach. I’ve had serious issues with both Tua and McDaniel but I need the rest of the seasons data to see what that ceiling is then. Tua against Buffalo did show positive game management skills (which is a compliment and not something he’s shown before) he also showed plus movement skills and playmaking ability when protection broke down. McDaniel showing the ability to adapt scheme while not hurting receivers feeling is a positive transgression. So while it seems strange to say that one game can delay what looked to be a train wreck of multiple vehicles the performance level by the head coach and Qb gave me some hope. the main reason why we need the rest of the seasons data is because if we do fire Grier which I’m very good with. (We can list his hits and misses here since he took over from Tannenbaum and Ross publicly said this is now his team 100 percent, I believe with conviction he deserves to be fired.) anyways the main reason is because when you hire a new GM that GM deserves the right to have a clean slate in building a team and that includes Qb and head coach. So imo the thread is a bit premature but if we want to use it as a season long evaluation of both Tua and McDaniel I’m cool with that, or I can start a specific one myself on the two. football is a crazy game, sometimes these learning curves are fluid and take longer than one might think. The rams are a tough team, I’ve watched them several times, they are very well coached, if we go there and beat them it means besides are stupid record we are playoff team and we’ll need to see this season through, just to allow them to dig themselves out of this self inflicted hole and see if they can do it. Thats part of the evaluation from a whole seasons perspective. I’m not forgetting what I saw in the offseason from our head coach, canceling Ota practices for no damn reason after your team collapsed the year before, having the softest practice and training camp I’ve ever witnessed, instructing players not to work after practice, all that pre game weak *** warm up not synchronized crap, it was embarrassing relative to what the falcons and commanders did, and just embarrassing on its own merits. So I can easily make a case as to why this team came out this season like they have been and the reason why they are in this ****ing hole. I lost a lot of respect for our head coach during that time. Tua I have my work ethic and conditioning issues with him, I have done more research on that topic than anyone on the planet imo. So I’m confident that all of that content and knowledge resulted in a performance level that was not up to expectation. So he finally got his *** in decent shape and I’m seeing some improvement like I said in the movement area of his game. That was the best game he played as a pro imo. So while I have issues with both at this point, they are both trending up in my eyes and I’d like to see where it goes the rest of the season. If they can get to 10-7 it will have shown some acute ability to overcome adversity and would result in some acknowledgement that off-season training and commitment, practice intensity and frequency, would need to change to reach the next level of performance and avoiding the mess they got themselves into. Im excited to see the team on Monday nite from a lot of angles, let’s see what they can do, there’s hope right now. As far as weaver goes, I’ve seen positive game plan construction and ability to adjust and good play calling awareness, he’s had a few losses in that regard but he’s lacking personnel big time right now, I feel sorry for him. 80 percent of last years roster is not there the last two games, not fair.
Great post Deej! I'm also out on Grier. However, if you look at the past, only about 50% of GM's get fired along with the HC. I'm not ready to give up on McD or Tua. Although, I DO want to start looking at not only back-up QB's, but starting QB's. I'm just not sure Tua will do what is necessary to protect himself. He's not "soft" or "injury prone", but rather he plays recklessly. We can't have that. Last season he showed that he can play with more awareness, but he went right back to the reckless stuff in the 1st Bills games. He does that because he's so competitive and doesn't want to give up on a play. This last Bills game his one long run and dive was PERFECT. That's what a QB should do. However, I'm not sure he would have not tried to run through a defender in that situation if one was there. He didn't have to make that decision, but who knows. Matt Stafford is one of the top QB's in this league. It's going to be tough to stop that Rams offense. I'm not sold on Weaver, but (and because of what you wrote) I'm not out on him either. He deserves time and a full roster. Bottom line, no matter what happens the rest of this season, I want McD back, Tua back, Weaver back, and Grier fired. I think the only way I would be for Grier is if they get far into the playoffs. That's not happening though.
Yeah I feel bad for weaver going up against that qb and offense they’re loaded. Stafford can make any play any qb make so it’s gonna be a dog fight to try and get this 10-7 run on track. I don’t know how weaver can stop them schematically with the guys he has, just not enough.
All Andy Reid does is win... With Tyreek, without Tyreek.... Fixed it for you. And that's not to disrespect Mahomes. He's a great QB, and all else equal, he's better than Tua. That said, Andy Reid wins with just about any QB, and you have to account for that in any discussion of Mahomes. Put Mahomes with Miami and the coaches that have been there since he was drafted and Tua with Reid and the Chiefs and I have no doubt Reid would have won multiple playoff games and at least 1 Superbowl with Tua. I'm not really sure you could say the same for Mahomes in Miami with Miami coaches.
Agreed Rieid is a all time great no doubt but Mahomes is as well, big reason they‘ll probably 3 peat. If Mahomes would be here you‘re right, he wouldn’t have a ring and things would look similar to the mid/late Marino days…
I mean thank you for the take... But Reid did not win rings with Alex Smith...(who was a pretty decent QB) Under Reid when Mahomes was on the bench as a rookie Smith had one of his best career seasons... And they came within a couple of plays of beating the Patriots... Smith matching Brady throw for throw... But before Mahomes they were good... but not superbowl good.. With Andy Reid. Reid went to the Chiefs in 2014.. They drafted Mahomes in 2017... Mahomes sat for a year... Started in 2018... Mahomes won a superbowl in his second season of starting. (2019 season superbowl in 2020) The Chiefs have been in 4 superbowls since Mahomes got drafted..(4 out of the last 5 years.) Winning three of them...(They lost to Brady and the Bucs a few years back) Reid is a good coach... My reply is not to trash him at all... But he did not start to win in KC until Mahomes came along.
I mean I would hope a thread like this would bring us together. But it only works for people that want to find common ground.
Great points. That was the best game they have played up in Buffalo with this regime but very curious if they will so up in primetime!
Posting a thesis on how much better Mahomes is than Tua and calling Tua a game manager will surely bring us all together.
I think I'm OK with Weaver so far, he has like now LB's to work with. DL is hurting and the safeties are average.
They did play better against the Bills... But it was a road game against a pretty decent football team... Tua played well... And it was not enough... We aree just not a good football team.
Please do not even say those words... LOL The absolute last thing this site needs is for someone to start talking about that horse ****.
Posting ANOTHER Tua sucks thread should really bring everyone together. Not one thing in his Tua manifesto was new. Or original.
^^^YHIS^^^ When Andy Reid left Philadelphia, I so wanted Miami to hire him. You’re right, all he does is win! Donovan McNabb? Win Alex Smith? Win Patrick Mahomes? Win Could’a, should’a, would’a. Can’t cry over spilled milk missing out on Reid.
I think the level of play was exceptional by the offense so I expect to play well, just need our defense to grind, if we get this win I think we can get to 10-7
This is were I believe you are wrong putting any blame on the Qb or offense, it was about as high level per drive performance as a team has ever played against the bills. 1 bobbled snap in a full game performance, relative to comps in others weekly performances, is what needs to be done 25-28, one of those incompletions was a perfect ball to Tyreek on the deep in slant. Another was a throw away in the dirt. Im pretty excited to see what can be on Monday. I do believe you have to reach levels of play before you can go to the next level, Tua finally did that with how he managed the game and how accurate he was doing so, sometimes relying on individual movement to make the play.
I think losing two starting olineman had its impact in being able to hold the pass rush, and in turn that pass rush was making him make some bad decisions with situational awareness was lost. this is the trait the great ones have..when that foot hits the last step in the drop only two things happen in that moment, either you get rid of the ball, or you step up and into a pocket lane and clear it then throw. he did not show that mastery in some key moments. he also made some movement plays that were outside the framework of the offense to convert some critical first downs. so overall I would say he was inconsistent.
I think the game was sloppy from both sides... Both teams were missing several players from their O lines... and it showeed. As for Tua... He was not on the same level as the week before against the Bills. But like I said the Rams offence was not exactly rolling.. Our defence played better... So Tua was able to get the win I wondered if Waddle got hurt in the game... Waddle was hot at the start of the game and then disappeared. Tua did not make any mistakes at the end of the game.... So you have to tip your cap to him for that.
This is a lie. This is opinion and not a good one. This is a huge exaggeration. Tua has a few elite players around him but far too many scrubs in important positions. This is complete nonsense. Flores led the team to ZERO playoff appearances. Stop spouting nonsense and you won't upset anyone. Tua was the BEST DEEP BALL PASSER for two seasons. You have no idea what you are talking about. Earlier in the post you claimed Tua was surrounded by elite talent..... which is it?????? Can you see why people don't take you seriously? You contradict yourself. A full page of drivel and almost no factual info, just nonsensical opinions.
Banned and actively trying to recruit posters to his new site lol love to indict the trolls and have them quit. very satisfying
