Tua, the only NFL player to show no post concussion symptoms immediately after a concussion but was forced to sit for 5 weeks.

I'm glad he's recovered, and just hope for his sake he can stay healthy and suffers no long term after effects.

There is a protocol to follow... Multiple doctors have to sign off for Tua to return. There is no conspiracy here... Stating that he had to sit out 5 weeks when he was ready to come back in 1.

Part of the protocol is mandated from the NFL...

Has to stop having concussions on national TV.
3 out of 4 were.Seen numerous players have them at 1 o'clock on Sunday and they are playing the next week.
The NFL doesn't give 2 ****s about the players and concussions if only the few saw.

I think with Tua it doesn’t matter the time, NFL and media having their eyes on him. Especially when he fences again.

    Not true.

The protocol to return to play is no symptoms and a return to baseline assessments. He was put on IR before he even saw a neurologist. He’s been symptom free since at least the day after when he attended Disney on Ice with his family and teammates. He’s been to the facilities since the Monday after the game and even flew cross country to attend games with the Dolphins.

Meanwhile, players like Josh Allen get knocked unconscious and don’t even get the mandatory assessment dictated by the NFL and returns to play 6 minutes later.

I'm flying down Saturday morning for the game from NJ. Picked this game and bought tickets back in May because I thought it would be their most winnable home game of the season. Holy sh!t this could be a huge game to be at!

He flew to Seattle the following Sunday and was on the sidelines around 106 decibel noise levels. He would have passed protocol but they jumped the gun and put him on IR.

Given that he has never been pulled for a concussion without having one and even finished a game with a concussion I don't think its something worth worrying about.

Yeah, we put him on IR so the team didn't take the weeks of abuse it got two seasons ago for bringing him back too soon. I'd bet the house McDaniel and Grier have told him to throw the ball away if everybody is covered, even if the offensive line opens up like the Red Sea before him. They probably are footing the bill for his jiu jitsu instruction out of their own pockets. I wonder if he'll be wearing a Guardian Cap for the rest of his career?

On the flip side of that coin, you are also asserting statements that can’t be validated.

Tua’s concussion against Cincinnati, not only was Tua out, he was OUT!! Didn’t travel with the team, wasn’t on the sidelines, NOTHING!

This time around, he’s going to Disney on Ice the following night, travelled to the LOUDEST stadium in the NFL and on the sidelines for every game since being placed on IR.

Being ruled out the week after the Buffalo game, I have no issue with. Being placed on IR before he could be adequately examined and undergo a battery of tests by neurologists before being placed on IR, I do have issue with.

Could Tua have returned sooner than he appears slates to be, maybe maybe not, but with a microscope on Tua for any and every little hit he takes and the team and league forcing knee jerk reactions when Josh Allen was KNOCKED THE FOOK OUT and was able to come back after sitting out ONE PLAY, I take serious issue with.

Either apply your concussion protocols equally or STFU.

    https://www.nfl.com/playerhealthand...ion-protocol-return-to-participation-protocol

There is a lot more to it than simply not showing obvious signs of a concussion. (To quote someone here.)

Multiple doctors need to evaluate the patient
Multiple doctors need to clear the patient to return to practice and or the field.

I am not sure how up to date people are on the steps that Tua and the Dolphins have taken for this last concussion to get Tua cleared.

I have read reports that Tua and the Dolphins sought out multiple doctors and specialists seeking clearance for his return.

But with the 5 step process...

Return to practice where they are allowed to increase heartrate with aerobic activity... Is only step one.

Even as the practice activity and intensity increases... Final Doctor clearances are required. So Tua has to go through multiple evaluations even after they begin strength training and physical contact in practice.

So to say that someone who looks good after a week of rest is ready to play is ridiculous.

So why would the team allow Tua to fly from Miami to Seattle and stand on the sidelines around the loudest crowd in the league if he hadn't been cleared? Not claiming to be a neurosurgeon but it's common knowledge that if someone is recovering from a concussion flying and being around loud crowds isn't recommended. The very next day he went to see Disney on Ice. Sadly I've had to suffer through the torture of Disney on Ice myself and I can tell you it's definitely loud.

Lol… Of course there are steps involved when doing what I said needs to be done.

A player must be symptom free and return to baseline assessments before playing. Full stop.

How do you think they are assessed?

Learn to read. No one wrote symptom free is the only thing needed.

Symptom free and a return to baseline assessments before return to play. How do you think they determine all of that? I didn’t realize that “some here” would need a 2nd grade explanation.

Of course a physician, both team and NFL hired, assess the patient to ensure they are back to baseline.

My “not true” statement was based upon your claim that there is no conspiracy.

Re-read my post and ask yourself why I wrote about how other players are treated post concussion.

It’s clear you’re here looking for a fight. I’d also bet my house that “Etrius” AKA “Sell This Team” is also another poster here with a hard-on for me because I’ve made them cry.

Tua is going to need an MVP performance and the Dolphins a CONVINCING win in order to silence those critical of McDaniel.

Next week however, McDaniel is going to need to call a very run heavy game as he did against Indianapolis today. The Dolphins were dominating the Colts until Mostert fumbled, which is where the wheel’s proverbially fell off the wagon.

Huntley going down didn’t help matters much, having to rely on Boyle.

When over half of your 2nd half possessions end in 2 fumbles, a missed FG, and a 3rd string QB throwing the ball OOB on 4th down, when the play calling got you nearly 200 yards rushing, we definitely have to blame McD.

    Right?

So the wasting the timeouts like every week and stupid *** 1-10 fullback dive call had nothing to do with it.
Or the penalties has nothing to do with head coach?

The Colts made a smart play keeping their offense out there when no one thought they’d go for it and made the Dolphins use a TO in order to get the right personnel in there. That happens to all HC’s.

The FB dive was the wrong call.

None of those things compare to the 2 fumbles and missed FG. You can look at any game you choose and none will be called perfectly. You don’t typically win in this league when you lose the TO battle, play your practice squad level QB, and your two best WR’s (one of which was voted the best player in the league) get a total of 3 passes thrown their way.

McD called this game nearly flawlessly. They had almost 200 yards rushing (and would have had well over that if not for the phantom hold call that brought a 30 yard run back).

McD still has things he needs to do better. Not fumbling and missing FG’s aren’t one of those things, however.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to see the game, nor really heard it. Couldn’t find it on am radio on the drive back from Atlanta and the spotty cell service in some of the rural areas negates my ability to follow one of the simulcasts on chat sports.

I didn’t hear about the full back dive by Ingold on 1st down nor the 2nd fumble, nor the missed field goal.

It seems to me the game plan was solid. A few errors in play calls but all in all, the game plan was good…the 2 fumbles on the other hand.

Honestly, the way that the defense and running game is playing you can turn Tua into Justin Herbert. Hand the ball off 30+ times and make conservative throws that move the chains. I really don't think we need to see Tua throw the ball 40+ times to win with this team.
