Saying "or" means if either of the two options is satisfied that's OK. Well to some degree both of those options were satisfied. It's not like Tua's contract gave the Dolphins nearly no flexibility if he doesn't pan out. And the condition for wanting Grier fired was not getting a long-term contract, but he got one. Also, we weren't discussion an "option" per say. I said "flexibility". You have nothing (or you can't understand basic grammar).
At least you support Grier now that he's got your boy locked up!! Caught you dude. It's OK. Maybe stop with the searching and playing gotchas with everyone. What goes around, comes around.
What? You didn't catch me in anything. All you did is demonstrate I accurately portrayed my previous position. Persist in arguing otherwise and I think you really have comprehension problems. Listen, there are posts from my past that I would disagree with today. This isn't one of them. Find one and maybe you can have a nice "gotcha" moment to celebrate. But what you just did is ridiculous. Also, I won't have a problem admitting I have a different view today if you find such a post.
Seriously that was weird. Hell.. if I wanted to find posts I disagree with today it's not difficult. Difference is I'm not going to claim I didn't say X when I said X.
Such a liar man. Your previous position had nothing to do with guaranteed money. You said you wanted Grier fired if he didn't get the deal done with Tua, and you just wanted it to be under a certain guaranteed amount. You were wrong. It's OK man. It's OK!
It seems as if resnor, hitman, and stale have all decided to do just that and then claim they’re being “misrepresented” or that strawman tactics are being used. Lol
OK I think you've conclusively proved you have reading comprehension problems. I said I wanted Grier fired if he didn't get a (long term) deal done. I said if he can do one of two different things: 1) less guaranteed money, or 2) makes it easier for us to move on from Tua if he doesn't pan out, then it's OK. Simple. And that was satisfied. He got the deal done and it's not like we're stuck with paying for every game Tua doesn't play over the theoretical length of the contract.
This is fun: "There's no justification for not signing Tua to an extension at market prices given that there's no better option out there and that he legitimately might turn into an elite QB. " -cbrad https://thephins.com/threads/tua-hes-the-greatest-prospect-ever.98555/page-46#post-3641423
Typical troll… come in, stir the pot, lie, leave… rinse, repeat. I’m sure we will see you after another Dolphin’s loss, but not if they win. (that’s even more of a reason to hope the win!)
You were definitely wrong about the "no justification" part. It was completely justified to not give Tua a big contract and let him play out his 5th year option to prove his lone season of not getting injured wasn't a fluke. Which it was.
That's not the context of that quote. Obviously if you think we should get rid of Tua, or evaluate him only one year, you can come up with all kinds of justifications for not signing him to a long term extension at market prices. The context of that quote is a response to an article that made it pretty clear an extension will get done. The question is what kind of structure any contract extension should look like. Here's the article: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...ant-to-sign-him-to-a-new-contract/ar-BB1p7zJw Note that I'm actually responding to a snippet from the article regarding the structure of the contract: https://thephins.com/threads/tua-hes-the-greatest-prospect-ever.98555/page-46#post-3641423 In other words, the question is IF we're going to sign him to an extension, should we pay market value (Tua was making a point about getting paid market value in that article). And in that context, I see no justification for not signing him at market prices because there's no real good option out there and because he has a high ceiling.
Yeah, we should never sign another player who is top 5 in their position ever again because they might get hurt. That’s the way to do things. What a ridiculous statement.
Dude I've explained numerous times why I post the things I post, why I argue things, even why I like posts. Despite explaining these things numerous times, posters on here continue to misrepresent me by twisting the above mentioned things into me trolling, or me being "sensitive." I get a warning to not start back and forth with you regarding the video comment....but this post I'm responding to gets nothing. Typical
Again acting like Tua getting another concussion is the same as some hypothetical player who doesn't have that issue getting injured is such a disingenuous argument.
Lol, Dude has played one full season in college and pros combined. Might as well give Armstead an extension while were at it.
In hindsight, probably. He was the highest rated free agent OL that offseason, to the extent that all the other top OL were waiting to see what he got before they signed in order to max out their contracts. Grier was lauded for signing him at the time. My hope is that he retires this offseason but stays with the team as an assistant line coach, which is pretty much what he is for us anyway. It would help the continuity in furthering AJ’s and especially Paul’s development.
So it looks like the report that Tua is definitely planning on returning might have been premature: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...urn-no-definitive-long-term-plans-per-report/ Sounds like nothing has been decided yet, which is probably as it should be only a week out from his injury.
To me it sounds more like Tua wants to return, as has been reported by Rap, but until he’s cleared there can’t be any “definitive” decisions made on if or when he can return.
The Monday after the Bills game, Tua is at the facilities, "laughing and in a good mood". He's travelling with the team on Sunday. He was out and about the night after the Bills game. Yeah, this "retirement" mantra is BS. The NFL is making him go on IR for optics. I find it hard to believe that he's still showing symptoms. My bet is if he was someone else he'd be playing this Sunday.
Yeah, this whole thing is stupid. Why the hell is he on IR? He's showing zero signs of a concussion, active in the team facility, going on family outings with teammates and traveling with the team to Seattle.
I saw a shocking large number of Dolphin fans complaining about this on twitter and wasn't really expecting people here to be as confused. He is on IR because its not smart to risk him playing in such a short time. Did people forget this isn't his first?
There’s of course a risk, but if he’s symptom free and cleared protocol, like every other QB that’s been through concussion protocol, he should be allowed to play. Since he seems to be symptom free I’m assuming he’s not far away from clearing protocol (if he hasn’t already).
There is no reason to pretend Tua and his concussion situation is the same as any other player and its not like there is a manual of how to deal with this. Does anyone think him playing right away sounds like a good idea?
His concussions aren’t any different. Unless you know of something that shows he’s showing signs of prolonged symptoms from any of his concussions, they’re not. Many players have suffered the same amount, some a lot more, and weren’t/aren’t being treated this way. Tua is the NFL’s poster child for “See, we care about players.” This is the NFL pressuring the Dolphins to put him on IR.
The amount of them makes it different now. It really doesn't matter that players have had lots concussions its safe to say we know now that is bad. Its true that I know nothing about his condition but neither do you and its not like Tua going to Disney on Ice actually tells us anything meaningful. I definitely think there is a double standard but that doesn't make putting him on IR the wrong move
He’s had 3 in the NFL. Go and look at the list of players with multiple concussions in a season and way more than Tua overall. He’s being treated differently. Mahomes had two concussions with fencing postures. (Same as Tua). Should he retire? In 2022, Pickett was concussed in week 4. Played the following week. Then he was concussed in week 14. The following season, in week 11, he was knocked silly, laid on the ground, looked semi-unconscious. Wasn’t checked out and finished the game.
Mahomes had one in 2014 and one in 2021. He even got to his feet after them so we don't need to say he had fencing postures like Tua. We don't need to pretend its the same.
To be honest, that hit didn’t look as bad as many I’ve seen. His head really didn’t look like it hit anything directly - might have been the impact when his facemask hit the ground ?
