here here buddy, same for me.

I play fantasy baseball and am in love with it. But I just can't do football, tried it once and couldn't stand it. I'm too much of a Dolphins homer to do so.

Yeah with Rivers tossing him the ball now, and LT and Gates there to alleviate the pressure on him, him and VJ can shine. VJ was absolutely nothing before Chambers got there, it's amazing his transformation now. We need someone like that here to relieve some pressure off Ginn ...but I digress!

Wide receiver Davis proving he's no bust

Thanks Mike for putting a fire under him.

Because here is what Tirico, the play-by-play man on ESPN's “Monday Night Football” telecast, said after Davis made the first of his three first-quarter receptions:
“Buster Davis, who lived up to the first four letters of his name – kind of a bust in the first round, not much last year.”

Point, counterpoint: L.T.'s toe healthier but not yet healed

Like I said it will hard to find him back there, but we must at all times.

At 5 feet 6 inches and a purported 181 pounds, Sproles is probably not built for the kind of pounding a featured running back absorbs in the NFL. He has shown considerable talent between the tackles, but his best work has been done in isolation and in space.
In three games, Sproles owns a 103-yard kickoff return and a 66-yard touchdown reception. Running and receiving, he has accumulated 205 scrimmage yards on only 18 touches – a gaudy average of 11.4 yards per play. Because Tomlinson has netted just 239 yards in 65 touches (a 3.7-yard average), the comparisons have grown more frequent and (for LT) less flattering.

I keep hearing this, especially on local homer radio stations. he had 3 catches in the first quarter. That's it. If his performance in that game proves he's not a bust, then Ginn's a freaking superstar.

Sometimes we need to lay off Ginn just a tiny little bit. Not guaranteeing he's going to be a great one, but sheesh can we give him to the end of the season at least?

Ronnie's looked pedestrian in each of his first two games last year and this. And he's in his 4th year.

I just hope the Raiders physically punish the Chargers and leave the Bolts limping.

I also hope for a long Overtime, though it's unlikely.

Weddle knows there's no free ride at safety

The touchdown pass at the end of the Carolina game wasn't his responsibility, but he was close enough to have changed the outcome.
At Denver, he was partially responsible for the Broncos' final touchdown and then blew his coverage on the game-winning two-point conversion.
These are the plays that haunted Eric Weddle last week.

With our beloved Dolphins getting this weekend off, are you going to watch the Chargers vs Raiders on Sunday? I am so I can look at everyone healthy on the field, well almost healthy. I want to watch again what we can have success with when they go to Miami.

Strong finishes are great, but ... team knows it must start faster

“Streaks are made to be broken,” Goff said Monday as he walked somewhat cumbersomely from the Chargers' facility with a knee strained in the fourth quarter Sunday.

Linebacker Jyles Tucker has a strained hamstring and will likely be limited in practice this week.
Rivers had his throwing shoulder wrapped in ice Monday but said it was just sore after the shoulder took one of the many hard hits he absorbed Sunday.

This game will tell us a LOT about just where we are in the rebuilding process. Win or lose, we need to make a good game of it, just to help keep all 53 guys buying into the process and on the same page.

A close game will do a lot for Sparano's support amongst his players as well. It seems to me whereas Cameron was losing his players' respect about this time of last season, Sparano has pretty much won it from what I hear and read. I think these guys will go and do pretty much whatever Sparano asks of them at this point. which is key to the future success of this team.

Per the Justin Smiley interview, it seems like the players are on board with Tony, and he is jacked up about his new position as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. I think we will go toe to toe with the Chargers. We must rattle Rivers, limit LT and Gates, and shut down Sproles as a RB, and a returner. Offense must run the ball successful, and use up a lot of clock to keep our defense fresh. We must rotate in guys to keep a pass rush on Rivers all day.

Chargers taking flight ? for October, anyway, they'll be road warriors

When the Chargers leave for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, conversely, it'll be the first of their four trips to the Eastern time zone. And as soon as they've finished one of them – the Oct. 19 matchup against the Buffalo Bills – the Chargers will board another plane and keep flying wayyyyyy farther east.

    Scouting report: Dolphins

    THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ronnie Brown, RB: He's a pistol, in more ways than one, especially out of the shotgun. LT has been known to throw for touchdowns on a halfback pass, but the “Wildcat” allows Brown to take the direct snap and do with it what he will, which is how he ran for three scores and threw for another in only six usages of the trick formation against New England.
Chad Pennington, QB: When the Jets made the no-brainer of choosing Brett Favre over him, it was said that New York basically had replaced a junkballer with a flamethrower. Whatever. The Chargers only know that when last they had to deal with Pennington, he beat them in both the regular season (22-of-29, 258 yards, 2 TDs) and postseason (23-of-33, 279 yards, 2 TDs) of 2004. Each game, incidentally, was in San Diego. He was even more efficient against the Pats, completing 85 percent of his passes.
Joey Porter, LB: With the departure of Jason Taylor, leadership of the Dolphins' defense was left to Porter, who doesn't have nearly the amount of help around him in his years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though the Dolphins had last week off, Porter remains tied for second in the NFL with four sacks. Chatty as ever, too.

CHARGERS SCOUTING REPORT: Miami Dolphins : North County Times - Californian

    Offense

QB Chad Pennington has the top completion percentage (65.5) in NFL history and regularly had success against the Chargers when he was employed by the New York Jets. In two regular-season games against the Chargers, Pennington was a combined 50-of-66 passing (75.8) for 511 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also had a terrific playoff performance against the Chargers following the 2004 regular season, when he was 23-of-33 for 279 yards and two scores in the Jets' overtime upset win. RB Ricky Williams, the former Patrick Henry High standout, ranks second in Miami history with 4,133 career rushing yards. He had a big performance (143 yards, two touchdowns) when the Dolphins routed the Chargers in 2002. TE Anthony Fasano and WR Greg Camarillo share the team lead with 11 receptions. Camarillo played in four games for the Chargers in 2006. LT Jake Long was the No. 1 overall pick in last April's NFL draft.

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Miami Dolphins Team Report

It's a hard deal to prepare for (Tomlinson) because if he gets an inch, he can go the distance," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. "All of a sudden you start to crowd the box a little bit and you get people flying to the ball because you know you need to tackle this guy and then he throws it over your head. We have to be disciplined in the back end of the coverage without a doubt."

--OG Evan Mathis is ready to take over the starting right guard spot if starter Ike Ndukwe falters. Mathis, a four-year veteran, played for offensive line coach Mike Maser and offensive coordinator Dan Henning at Carolina. However, the Dolphins ground game improved against the Patriots, so Ndukwe will retain his job -- at least this week.

The Manifesto will be up in a few days. All Tony has to do is read it, take notes and we will be fine. I am convinced that my broken record/Ronnie Brown picture is what made Sparano give the ball to Brown so often against New England... :shifty:

Wide receiver Chambers returns to his old home on Sunday

“That's incredible,” Chambers said. “ . . . It's definitely a comfortable environment for me. There's a lot of familiarity. It really helps me out a lot. I believe it will maximize my game to the fullest, hopefully, as we keep going. But now that we've been together for almost a year, I know some tendencies, he knows some tendencies.”

The Chargers lead the league with 51 points off turnovers – six offensive touchdowns (plus two two-point conversions) in the drive following a takeaway and Antonio Cromartie's interception return for a touchdown.

Yeah definately need to limit TOs, big part of their game. Special teams as well. Of their second half TD drives against the raiders, all but 1 came from the Raiders side of the field! And the one that didnt was from their own 40. You cant win a game when you give up that kind of field position! We need to make them start deep from their own territory, and have our folks just come out and play hard. Teams flying from coast to coast generally start a bit slower, hopefully we can take advantage of that to build some momentum, make a positive halftime gameplan, come out and finish it!

Williams staying on track in lastest stint

“It was quite the opposite,” Williams said. “He said that he really thought I could still play in this league. I think he's probably been one of my staunchest supporters, and he's really helped make this year much easier for me.”

I never wish injury on a player......actually I take that back there a few players who if they got hurt I'd be happy but him being out helps. Now if Jamal Williams doesn't play that would be great.

Taming the 'Wildcat': Bolts prep for Miami

The Chargers don't seem all that impressed, or worried. “Gimmicky,” cornerback Quentin Jammer said.
Still, it's something to think about.
The Chargers have spent time each day this week preparing to face the Miami Dolphins and their highly successful (for a half-dozen plays) version of the single-wing offense.

Chargers defense focuses on tying up opposing tight ends

Whether it was a breakdown or a bad defense is up for debate, safety Clinton Hart being the one responsible for that portion of the field but essentially in a no-win situation with too many men to cover.
But what was undeniably driven home by Zach Miller's 63-yard touchdown reception last Sunday is that tight ends are killing the Chargers this season.

This is not good news for us.

Chargers.com - News Headlines Williams feeling, playing like his old self

When defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell was asked Thursday to assess the performance of Jamal Williams in last week’s win at Oakland, he didn’t have to think long.

“That’s the best game he’s played since I’ve been here,” Cottrell said. “That was the difference in our run defense. He gave them a lot of problems.”

Williams was credited with six tackles and a half sack as Oakland, who entered the game ranked third in the NFL in rushing offense, gained just 72 yards on 23 carries.

  34. OK.............this seems to be the thread to post about the game this week I guess..........

Should be a good game I believe.............no give or take.

Won't be taking the Phins lightly at all..............not the way we play anyway.

You never know what charger team you'll get from one week to the next..........

Our "D" has some major improving to do if we are planning on playing well into next year, under no false illusions here.

All the best for a good and entertaining game, with no injuries ofcourse.

    Cheers................

CHARGERS: Matchups vs. Miami Dolphins : North County Times - Californian

    Chargers on offense

Throwing the ball against Miami has been easier than running it, as the Dolphins rank 10th in defending the run (90.7 yards) and 26th against the pass (227.3). RB LaDainian Tomlinson (296 rushing yards) will need better blocking than he's been getting to secure a second consecutive 100-yard game. QB Philip Rivers (10 touchdowns, four interceptions) could be in line for another big performance against a Miami secondary that was ravaged by Arizona earlier this season. You can be sure that WRs Chris Chambers (four TDs, 24.5 average) and Vincent Jackson (team-leading 246 yards) took note of the damage Cardinals receivers Larry Fitzgerald (153 yards) and Anquan Boldin (140) did against the Dolphins. Jackson and TE Antonio Gates share the team lead with 15 receptions. Miami's defense is led by WLB Joey Porter, who has five sacks in three games, including a four-sack showing in the Dolphins' rout of New England two Sundays ago. Rookie DE Kendall Langford (two sacks) looks like a future star.

As always, LT center of defense's attention

MIAMI – Even while LaDainian Tomlinson was unable to do much more than run straight ahead, his aching right big toe limiting his burst moving laterally, defenses were stacked to stop him.
So nothing is going to change now that he is moving so ably left and right – and now that he is entering the time of the season when in the past couple of years he's really begun to produce.

Five things to watch: Chargers vs. Miami

    Five Things to Watch
Tricky, tricky: It's not just for entertainment value that the Dolphins have used the formation historically known as the “Wildcat,” though Miami quarterbacks coach David Lee called it the “Wild Hog” when he used it as Arkansas' offensive coordinator and had Darren McFadden taking direct snaps at running back. Ronnie Brown enjoyed a field day with it against the befuddled Patriots, but that was two weeks ago and the Chargers shouldn't be surprised – unless Miami head coach Tony Sparano pulls another kind of rabbit out of his cap. Badabing!
