All players cut: Jody Fortson (TE) Mike White (QB) Willie Snead (WR) Neville Gallimore (DL) Nik Needham (CB) Zander Horvath (RB) Isaiah Johnson (CB) Wyatt Ray (LB) Jordan Colbert (S) Chasen Hines (G) Matthew Jones (G) Curtis Bolton (LB) Kyric McGowan (WR) Ja’Quan Burton (WR) Jadon Janke (WR) Jason Maitre (CB) Leonard Payne (DT) Mike Harley Jr. (WR) Isaiah Mack (DT) Robert Cooper (T) Haden Rucci (TE) Chris Brooks (RB) Mark Perry (S) Blake Ferguson (LS) Jonathan Harris (DT) Dequan Jackson (LB) David Anenih (LB) Anthony McFarland(RB) Braylon Sanders (WR) Erik Ezukanma (WR) Linebacker Wyatt Ray was placed on IR and isn’t eligible to return. Cam Smith to injured reserve. He’s eligible to return after four games provided the Dolphins make that designation Odell Beckham moved from the active/PUP list to the reserve/PUP list, meaning he will be sidelined at least the first four games Placed LB Bradley Chubb, LB Cameron Goode, and OL Isaiah Wynn on PUP list. Placed WR Anthony Schwartz on IR.
White's contract was just too much to keep him. He didn't get a fair shake during preseason games, playing with scrubs, but he was horrible and my guess is Skylar just outplayed him in practice.
Just a hunch, Thompson won't be the backup. I think the backup will be on the waiver wire shortly. Wynn and Chubb to stay on the PUP list and will miss the first four games at minimum. Beckham is TBD.
That's a good hunch. Most teams, if their back-up is playing for an extended amount of time won't get too far, but I'm not confident that Skylar can come in a win even a game or two if needed.
I think he was injured for alot if it and then just didn't shine as well as the others did when given the opportunity. Dont think he did horrible by any means though. Last year they only kept 3 and Smithe and Janu are locks. Fortson dropping that reception and getting penalties in the game this week didn't help his case. Was hoping he'd turn out but I guess we'll see what shakes out between Hill, Conner, and maybe that Buci kid or whatever his name is that scored the TD.
If they grab another QB and make him the backup over a guy in his 3rd year with McDaniel I'll be scratching my head. If they don't bring back White then Thompson should be the backup no question. He's familiar with the locker room and knows the system.
Malik Willis was just traded to Green Bay to be their backup. It happens all the time. Thompson can't win in the NFL. If the Dolphins aren't actively scanning the waiver wire or exploring a trade it would be pretty stupid of them.
Rumors have been swirling for quite some time Zappe would be a Dolphin. Where there's smoke there's fire.
It's rough seeing Nik Needham being cut. I hope he catches on somewhere else. He had a heckuva story in Miami and I hope his NFL journey continues.
Some surprising DL cuts. Gallimore isn't expensive, but iirc his contract is fully guaranteed and he was supposed to be one of our DL coaches boys. I imagine we try to stick Payne on the PS. Johnson and Rucci easy adds I think. I'd be surprised if we don't see a WR or two added. Some interesting names are shaking loose like Terrance Marshall and Noah Brown.
By my count 7 more to go. Odell Beckham moved from the active/PUP list to the reserve/PUP list, meaning he will be sidelined at least the first four games
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/miami-dolphins-make-roster-moves-8-27-24 They cut EZE and Blake Ferguson. They also only have 4 WRs so safe to assume they are going to sign someone.
Cutting Blake is interesting. I wonder who will do long snapping. EZE had potential, but man his hands didn't show up consistently while the injuries did. There are lots of WRs getting cut though. Or maybe we go wild and trade for Aiyuk.
With the RB room being what it is, Brooks didn’t stand much of a chance of making the 53 man squad. He could make it back on the practice squad
I agree EZE had the potential but if he’s not high on the depth chart now, time to cut sling load. Can’t have a Devante Parker 2.0
Depends on the injury I guess. They kept him.over Ahmed so they think something of him, but he's another dude that struggles with injuries I feel.
If they knew it was a possibility back in May, they should have waited to offer him a contract. It wasn’t like he had half the league banging down his door. This has the potential to be Will Fuller 2.0. I hope I’m wrong, but….
If Gallimore doesn't take his guaranteed money and go sit on the practice squad to wait/work for his turn he can go !@#$% off.
Pretty sure I'm going to have to order one for my daughter for the Seahawks game. She's already running around saying Cheetahs and Penguins and Ducks Oh My!!! Fins UP!!! She was very excited to hear he'd made the team.
