It still boggles the mind that they sat River for that skinny little marshmallow Robbie Chosen. So glad we are never going to see him pretend to try to throw a block and instead throw up his hands and fall backwards screaming like a little pretty princes who just saw a bug.
River is a baller. Just goes out and does his job.

Cracraft is a stud, he just sadly was in a deep wide receiver room. He still won’t get as much time on the field behind Hill, Waddle, Beckham and Berrios. When he is on the field though, he does seem to be automatic, doesn’t he?

IDK maybe. Don’t remember him on the injury report but I’ve got CRS so could be. Thought he was a healthy scratch for a few games mid season.

Just for some context RE: backup QBs ...

Multiple Super Bowl contention fanbases are going wild calling for new backups. We aren't in a uniquely bad situation here. Seems like QBs struggle when you put them behind inferior OL with inferior skill guys. What will determine if we get a new backup (like Tannehill for example) will be how McDaniels views the practices put together by Thompson and White, not a dozen preseason throws.

ll the hard work Jaelan Phillips put forth for more than eight months started paying off Monday with his first Miami Dolphins practice of 2024, but the edge defender basically said it was but a morsel.

“I feel great," Phillips said Monday, the day the Dolphins activated him from the Physically Unable to Perform list. "I feel amazing. Just happy to be back out here. It was a little bit of a tease. I'm ready to start hitting some things, but it was great. I'm just so blessed to have my health and be out here running around with the boys.”

Given the nature of Phillips' 2023 injury — you're not a real Dolphins fan if you don't know it was an Achilles tendon tear — it makes that the Dolphins are going to take things slowly with Phillips because the last thing they want is a setback now.

But because a good part of practice involved walk-through work, Phillips actually was able to line up at the end of the defensive line during an 11-on-11 period late in the session.

“Like I said, it was great, but it was a tease," Phillips said. "I need more. But like I said, I'm patient and I trust the trainers. I trust my coaches. And at the end of the day I trust myself too. So I'll be honest with them about how I'm feeling and I know that they'll take care of me and they want to see me back out on the field too, but they also have the long-term vision. I do as well, obviously, but Mike (McDaniel) said it perfectly. I'm my biggest enemy when it comes to trying to get back just because I'm so eager to be playing and be back out there with my guys. So yeah, it'll all happen in this national course.”

With Phillips off PUP and practicing by mid-August, it's certainly fair to think he'll be available for the regular season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8, something that maybe didn't seem so clear as the early months of 2024 rolled by.

But Phillips isn't about to make predictions or talk about timetables because timetables never were on the table (sorry) at any point during his recovery.

“Yeah, we're just playing it by ear," he said. "I mean, this is the first time I've practiced with the boys in eight months. So it's hard to give you an exact timeline or exact date when I'm coming back. But all I know is that I feel great and I trust my coaching staff, I trust the training staff to get me back into play when they feel like I'm ready.”

THE END OF A LONG JOURNEY FOR PHILLIPS ... OR IS IT?
Phillips' road back from the injury began pretty much as soon as he was injured on Black Friday, with the initial setback chronicled during the Dolphins' "Hard Knocks" in-season appearance.

And now he's cleared one major hurdle.

“Like I said, I'm a high achiever, and I've been pushing myself as much as I've been able to," Phillips said. "And so I didn't really know what the timeline was. Frankly, I didn't really care because what was more important to me was taking it day by day, week by week. So now that August is here, it just feels great.”

Phillips said he's watched the "Hard Knocks" episode featuring his injury "several times," but is too busy focusing on what he needs to do now to be doing a lot of reflecting.

It's also why Phillips didn't see getting activated off PUP as necessarily a huge deal.

“I mean, I'm not like celebrating because I'm ready to go," he said. "I'm excited for actually being back into playing. I'm really focused on being on point with the playbook. And obviously (with) a bunch of new teammates, like my No.1 priority is gaining their respect. And they do respect me based off of my merits and based off what they've seen but I want them to respect me based off what I'm doing right now and I know they do because they see me working my *** off and they see everything that I put into it.

"But I'm really just excited to actually get back on the field actually. This defense is really special and we have a lot of talented guys and it's been really exciting seeing them fly around seeing them make plays, but I want to be a part of that too and I want to be that guy on this defense. Like I said, play it day by day and be patient."

If he’s ready week 1 that would put him at almost exactly 9 months from injury. Most experts say it takes 9-12 months. I mention this because it’s funny that media and some fans believed Rodgers when he said he was going to be ready towards the end of last season… basically 6 months post injury. I laughed at his proclamation and was ridiculed by some here. It took an athletic and genetic freak, who is only 25, 9 months and yet some believed a 40 yr old was going to beat that timeframe by 3 months. Too funny.

Defensive tackle Teair Tart’s bid to make the Dolphins has reportedly come to an end. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team will release Tart on Tuesday. Tart signed with the Dolphins in April and did not play in their first preseason game.

Tart saw time with the Titans and Texans last season after playing 34 games for Tennessee over his first three years in the NFL. He has 79 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery in 47 overall appearances.

Da’Shawn Hand, Neville Gallimore, Jonathan Harris, Isaiah Mack, and Brandon Pili remain in the mix for backup linemen jobs behind projected starters Benito Jones, Zach Sieler, and Calais Campbell.

Surprising. I thought Tart would dig in and compete for minutes this season. For them to release him means that others are playing exceptionally well or that his presence is more detrimental to the DL room than his skills are worth.

Tua looks remarkably relaxed. He's always been a chill guy, but he looks like he's in a good place. I hope that translates to the field.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t had a chance to work with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in a training camp practice yet and he thinks that will need to change to get a full view of how the veteran will fit into the team’s offense.

Tagovailoa said at a Tuesday press conference that he’s thrown a bit with Beckham so that the wideout can “see the way the ball spins.” The quarterback then added that “I’ve got to see him catching and running routes with our guys first and getting into the mix first before I can say anything” about how everything will come together.

Tagovailoa had a similar answer when it came to his confidence that the wideout will be able to hit the ground running once he’s cleared to come off the physically unable to perform list.

“I think it’s more confidence for him once he’s able to start running and catching balls, and seeing it in that sense with guys across from him,” Tagovailoa said. “It’s a whole other thing to do that. Then also, he has to know where to line up, and then what that play is, if he has a motion or if he doesn’t have a motion. So that’s where I think we’ll be one of the tougher parts. And it’s not just for him. It’s for everyone and anyone trying to get to know the playbook in this offense.”

Jaylen Waddle has also missed time with an injury recently, so the Dolphins have a few things to sort out in the passing game before the start of the regular season.

losing 20 lbs will do that to you..

its a very very important happening for him and this team. should not be underestimated how it limited the player and team last year. you will see the fruits of his labor this year..should of never gotten to that point but i'm happy it was recognized and corrected.

wth man, have you not been paying attention, I was friggin right to be obsessed about it, if you don't see whats happening now because of the weight loss then you need to open your eyes and ears.

the weight loss is a major factor, which should tell you what a detriment is was to the player and team last year.

If Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa were making the lineups for this Saturday’s home preseason game against the Commanders, he’d be writing his own name down.

Tagovailoa said at a Tuesday press conference that he hopes to play after sitting out the team’s first game of the summer. The quarterback said it is good “to get some reps, get back into the pregame routine, get back into the feel of what it feels like to prepare getting ready for a game.”

Head coach Mike McDaniel will decide who gets on the field this week and Tagovailoa outlined how that process plays out.

“I think it’s sort of like a mutual thing,” Tagovailoa said, via a transcript from the team."He gets with the leaders of the team, guys who have established themselves and guys who have earned the respect of the guys in the locker room — gets with those guys and has a conversation with them and we come up with basically the idea of ‘Yeah, we’re all playing’ or ‘Maybe not this one,’ or ‘We’ll see what that looks like.’ Hopefully we do get that opportunity. It would be good because this is our last one at home before we go to Tampa and then we actually start the season.”

Mike White and Skyler Thompson handled the quarterback work in the first preseason game and will do the same if the Dolphins opt to keep Tagovailoa on the bench.

    More Miami Dolphins Injury News
Running back Salvon Ahmed and cornerback Cam Smith are back in the mix after missing multiple practices with minor injuries earlier in camp. Both Ahmed and Smith did 11-on-11 work on Tuesday.

Smith’s return, combined with Ethan Bonner’s absence the last two days, has added new juice to the team’s CB4 battle.

Smith will have a real opportunity to make a move, particularly with Jalen Ramsey apparently banged up. Ramsey has not practiced the last two days. Safeties Jevon Holland and Jordan Poyer dressed for practice but did not participate in 11-on-11s.

Other Dolphins players who did practice Tuesday: Running back Jeff Wilson Jr.; linebacker Anthony Walker Jr.; EDGE Mohamed Kamara; center Aaron Brewer; wide receiver Anthony Schwartz; and tight end Tanner Conner and Jody Fortson Jr.

The Miami Dolphins announced that they have signed defensive tackle Robert Cooper.

Cooper signed with the Seattle Seahawks after going undrafted in 2023. He went to training camp with the Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles. He signed with the Dolphins a day after the team waived Teair Tart.

Further, Miami is looking to add depth to the position because nose tackle Benito Jones has missed the last few practices with a nagging injury. Jones is expected to be day-to-day.

According to the release, Cooper played his college ball at Florida State. He appeared in 57 games with 41 starts. He had amassed 123 tackles (56 solo), 2.5 sacks, and three passes broken up.
