If anyone wants to know more about Bayron Matos, he was an NFL IPPP player this year. With those guys you can keep them on the practice squad for 3 years without them counting as taking up a space (not sure with Matos though since he was draft eligible). It's why Louis Rees-Zammit signed a 3 year deal with the Chiefs. Anyway the whole pathway thing was on YouTube this year, I watched them all as I was interested in how a few of the UK lads would do. Matos is huge and insanely athletic. Ran the 40 in 4.88 at what they said was 315lb. The guy the Bills drafted in the 7th round ran 4.79 at 300lb, mental. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVeVOQq_bXNXgir7aot4Db0G1WdNUO9pD
The Dolphins coaches feel they can fix the mechanical shortcomings of both Robinson and Paul. If they felt the OT class of 2025 was going to be weak, then taking on a project like Paul would make more sense too. I still would have liked to see them address IOL over OT. Other than that, I'm good with this draft. I liked doubling up at Edge and slot WR.
Honestly, with our limited picks, I think we did okay. My only complaint is that we didn't go after wide receivers with a bit more size.
I remember reading years ago that teams should draft, while in a position of strength Maybe this pick falls into that category.
Maybe coach is thinking about using him in an unconventional role - kinda like a smaller, but much faster Deebo Samuel. Could you imagine him, Achane, Hill and Waddle out there together? There’s not a team out there with the speed to cover all those guys.
Malik Washington is easily the player I'm most interested in watching from this draft. Getting him so late was a steal.
Something about Chop makes me really want him to succeed. Seems like a good kid. Sitting with his grandma and family for the call makes me think he's grounded.
From a cbssports.com article about the best pick of each team: EDGE Chop Robinson (Round 1, No. 21 overall) Honorable mention: WR Malik Washington As my EDGE1, I have to feature Robinson here, and his selection filled a low-key need in Miami given the late-season injuries to Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. What I like too is -- Robinson doesn't necessarily need to be the No. 1 700-snap outside rusher as a rookie. There is development to be had with his game. But the upside is magnificent. Oh, and he was productive at Penn State. It just didn't show in the sack department. A career pressure-creation rate of 17.5% is darn good, especially for someone as young as Robinson. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ls-among-best-single-picks-made-by-each-team/ I find it interesting that although I love the pick of Robinson, it's debatable whether he's our best selection.
Although Robinson didn’t register a high number of sacks, which has been mentioned numerous times by a few as to him being a poor pick, he was able to cause disruption in offenses’ backfield. If he can replicate just that…causing disruption in the backfields it’s going to open opportunities for the defense to make big plays…a sack by Seiler…an interception by Ramsey, etc just by the mere disruption of the offensive play flow.
I didn't realize that Chop wasn't even a starter for the majority of his collegiate career. Started one game freshman year. Zero games sophomore year, and 10 his junior year. Not sure what to think about that. Certainly doesn't make me too thrilled that we grabbed him in the first.
Yes. Change parameters so you can whine about it and claim you’re being misrepresented. He said TOTAL TACKLES… he said 11 TOTAL TACKLES. Is that true or not? Then you come in with 12 SOLO tackles which is still more than 11. Right? 11<12…FACTS… lol I know… I know… I’m mean. You’re so affected. Lol
He just turned 21. If you know anything about PSU’s defense you’d understand why his snaps weren’t very high. Maybe you should read a little about him and his former team before you cherry pick with the hot takes. Sophomore season: “Awards: Selected All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches and media...Named a Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten second team selection...Earned the team's Reid Robinson Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award with Adisa Isaac. Appeared in 12 games...Posted 26 tackles (19 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble...Named the coaching staff's Defensive Player of the Week three times (Ohio, 9/10; Maryland 11/12; Utah, 1/2).” “he StArtEd zErO GaMEs” lol Junior Season: “Awards: Postseason: Earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media...Recognized as a second-team All-American by Pro Football Focus and USA Today...Tabbed a third-team All-American by the Associated Press...Was Penn State's Team MVP along with Olumuyiwa Fashanu...Named the team's Reid-Robinson Award winner, recognizing the outstanding defensive lineman, along with teammate Adisa Isaac. Preseason: Earned preseason second-team All-American honors...Named to the Bednarik Award, Lombardi Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch lists.”
You really are unhinged, man. Cherry picked stats again? I was looking into his tackles since you decided to quibble with someone over that. In that process, I found out about his lack of starts, and so I posted about that in here, where we are taking about him. Further, I stated "I don't know what that means," and then I said it didn't make feel good. You could have just answered my concern without being a condescending dick. Also I had already read the accolades you posted, but that still doesn't mean he was a good choice in the first round. This is my general problem with Grier. It's not that he picks bad players. It's that IN MY OPINION he picks safe players when there are better choices for that spot available. Your response did nothing to address that.
I'm really sorry that you don't like the pick, but maybe he'll work out for us? Or are you ready to just call him a bust just because Grier picked him??? Have you even done any research on him? Do you even watch college football? I'm not a huge college fan, but the one team I do like is coincidentally Penn State. I think he's got a chance to succeed in the pros, but that's me.
And further, I wasn't even bashing the pick or the player. ANY criticism of the tab or players and you immediately act like the poster hates whatever it is they were taking about.
It was just a comment. Did you know he has only started that many games? I'm not bashing. If you read my next post you'd see that I only saw his starts when I was doing a little research on him because Dan was quibbling over ONE TACKLE. You would think dudes could just give answers without being douchey about it.
Chris Grier picks for the ceiling. He’s as far away from “safe” pick as there is. Uneducated, farcical, and just plain old pessimistic posts that are not backed up with any semblance of rational thought or levelheadedness deserve condescension and nothing more. Not to mention that it really doesn’t matter how I respond. If I disagree I’m “mean”. lol
“One tackle”? Lmao One tackle, 5 tackles, or 50 tackles… doesn’t matter. He has a penchant for fudging stats. He does it so often I’ve made frequent remarks about how bad he is at transcribing them.
Chops athleticism is off the charts. He was the leader in QB pressures last season. His ceiling is higher than Everest. Will he reach that peak? Maybe, maybe not, but picking for highest FLOOR is not how this works. And no one knows high how, or low, Chop will be in a couple years. Some here like to pretend that drafting these guys is an exact science or they judge based on nonsensical things like ROY or whatever. Cherry picking things and using asinine things like that is just a way for them to troll. Now, I don’t think resnor is a troll, but he’s an emotional train wreck that’s been brainwashed by the trolls.
Oh so it doesn't matter if you misrepresent others, or act like they're stupid for saying 11 tackles when it is really 12? Treat others the way you want to be treated. You've turned into one of the most disingenuous posters on this site.
