A recent report mentioned wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as a possibility for the Jets, but the free agent wideout’s first visit of free agency will reportedly come with another AFC East team.

Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that Beckham is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins on Thursday.

The Dolphins recently re-signed Braxton Berrios, but don’t have a clear No. 3 wideout to go with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Beckham would be an interesting choice for that role given some of his past feelings about the size of his role in the offenses he’s played in, but the options for both sides aren’t growing as free agents continue to find homes around the league.

Beckham had 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns with the Ravens last season.

This would be such a bad idea. I am gonna be honest, I don't particularly like Tyreek as a person, and I think that a lot of his nonsense is dealt with simply because he is so talented. Most of the places that OBJ has gone, he has been a cancer. The NYG gave him $100M, and yes, he had to work with a regressing Eli Manning. I think when you are taking that kind of money, you are required to be a good soldier in the locker room - even Tyreek has been nothing but outwardly supportive of Tua.

I now look over at Baltimore who is just as much of a Super Bowl contender as we are - possibly even more. They had him on their roster, and they are letting him walk. They are a solid organization with a respected coach. To me, this is a clear sign of the writing being on the wall.

I truly do not see the point of signing a player far out of his prime with an injury history that is difficult to get along with.

Side note - Do you really think that putting him and Tyreek together is not asking for problems?

I don't think his attitude is much of a concern since I doubt he would be more than a 1 year deal. If Miami struggles his happiness will be the least of their concerns and its not like teams can't win with him because the Rams did. Don't get the concerns with combining him with Tyreek either as Tyreek has been a model teammate regardless of his off the field issues.

He seems pretty washed but if its cheap its a bit harmless.

I think Beckham be a great WR3 in this offense. He is still an elite route runner. A one year incentive based deal would be fine with me.

I loved Landry's passion. He was a headcase but loved him when he was here.

Nobody realizes Beckham averaged 16.1 YPC last season in Baltimore. They would have a lethal trio of wide receivers next year. It's a total upgrade from Wilson, Berrios or Ezukanma.

Non Dolphins fans don’t like to use context or rational thinking when discussing the team that has probably spanked theirs many times over the last few years.

OBJ, in a limited role, with a reasonable incentive laden contract, could help this team. Players seem to love McD and play hard for him. If McD can get OBJ fired up and in a good mindset I think it’s a no brainer. If OBJ puts on a fake facade and turns into a turd, as long as his contract is reasonable and short, who cares? He’s worth the risk.

Also 8.8 yards per target, 2.7 yards average separation. Massive upgrade to Wilson, he plays most of his snaps on the outside which means you can have Hill or Waddle in the slot next to him.

He would be a good signing and leaves the team to get best player available at #21.

The Dolphins met with receiver Odell Beckham Jr. late last week, with Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reporting that there was “strong” mutual interest between the two sides.

But so far, no deal has been reached. Head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about Beckham at the annual league meeting and noted the free-agent visit with the receiver went “great.”

We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career, still has really good football in front of him and has options,” McDaniel said, via Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald. “So, I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”

After missing the 2022 season due to a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl LVI, Beckham played 14 games with six starts in 2023. He caught 35 passes for 565 yards with three touchdowns in the regular season along with four receptions for 34 yards in the postseason.

“I don’t live in the world of crystal balling and I do stay in my lane as a coach,” McDaniel said. “I’m definitely ready to coach him if we can come to an agreement and I think both sides are trying to work towards that. We’ll see what happens.”

The No. 12 overall pick of the 2014 draft, Beckham has recorded 566 career receptions for 7,932 yards with 59 touchdowns in 110 games for the Giants, Browns, Rams, and Ravens.

Reports are saying that his asking price is around $11m...For me that's just too much money for him. I'm all for kicking the tires, but not at that price.

Yikes! That is bonkers money. Mike Williams is getting a base of $8.3M with a chance to make $15M. The thing is with Williams, I think that there is a universe in which he catches 100 passes or gets 1,000 yards receiving. Hollywood Brown was $8.2M. Again, I think that the same holds true for him.

I think that a realistic outcome for OBJ in Miami would be 48-520-3. I just don't see the upside.

I would assume Miami is will under that otherwise he would have signed already

I think the problem with the guys you mentioned is they wouldn't have signed those kind of incentive based contracts with Miami as they would have very little chance to hit them.

McDaniel is fond of him and an offer has been made, let’s see where Florida taxes come into play and how much he wants to be a dolphin, McDaniel said that Odell has an affinity for south Florida

    Breaking rumor:

Odell Beckham Jr. to the Dolphins? Tyreek Hill seemingly confirms that veteran WR is signing with Miami

OBJ may be headed to the 305

    By Shanna McCarriston

    1 min read
Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has taken to Snapchat to give a major offseason update. Hill posted a photo of him and Odell Beckham Jr. on the social media app with the caption, "OBJ to Miami confirmed."

There has not been any official word on if the deal is happening, and if it is, what the details of the contract will be. OBJ had a visit with the Dolphins in March, and according to head coach Mike McDaniel, the team made an offer to the three-time Pro Bowler.

"Things went great with him," McDaniel said (per USA Today). "We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players like Odell, who's had a phenomenal career and still has really good football in front of him and has options. I think those conversations will be ongoing. We'll see where they go."

Beckham would provide help to Hill and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

Last month, the Baltimore Ravens released Beckham after one season with the team. If Hill's inside scoop is accurate, Beckham will be going from one top AFC team to another.

This would mark Beckham's fifth team, as he previously played for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Ravens last year.

Wait… did this article say that Miami is a top team in the AFC? I can believe the OBJ rumors, but there’s just no way Miami is one of the best teams in the AFC. Hasn’t this author read the experts around this forum? We’re, at best, an 8 win team next season.

Don't knock them for having a conditioned response. At this point, any good thing that happens has us (yeah, me included) waiting for a shoe to drop. I'm more optimistic than most, but I fully understand why they feel the way they do. Well, most of them; some are legitimate trolls. But they're right to say that they would be sitting on a vault full of money if they bet against us for the past 50 years.

It doesn't mean that things cannot and will not work in our favor this year, though.

No thanks. Beckham is mostly a downfield pass catcher.

All of our downfield targets should be to Waddle or Hill. Anybody else soaking up those targets would take them away from our best weapons.

We need a WR who dominates on short and underneath routes and is an elite hands catcher.
A WR who can run those 5 yard slants and hold onto the ball with a linebacker or safety taking a direct angle at them.

I’m fine with someone other than Hill or Waddle soaking up those targets! Slant boy Thomas would actually be perfect if he was healthy.

If, and I emphasize a STRONG IF…Beckham still plays at a great level, grasps the McDaniel offense and truly ACCEPTS his role as the number 3 receiver, I can live with it however…

If he comes here and turns into a prima Dona aka Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson or Randy Moss prior to New England…NO THANK YOU!!

I don’t think he signs with the Dolphins, but if he did I suspect he’d be given a slot receiver role. Even when he was in his prime, and tearing it up on the outside, he was able to kill defenses in the slot.
IF he signs here, and can keep his head and realize what’s being asked of him instead of being the superstar, I think he’d help a lot. I’m just not keen on the reported $11m he’s asking and would be afraid that he’d lose his cool once things didn’t go his way.
