Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Rams linebackers coach and pass rush coordinator Chris Shula will interview with the team. Shula’s grandfather Don won two Super Bowls and five AFC championships during his time as the head coach in Miami.

Shula was college teammates with Sean McVay and joined him in Los Angeles when McVay became the Rams head coach in 2017. He has coached linebackers for most of his time with the team, but did also have a one-year stint working with the defensive backs.

Texans linebackers coach Chris Kiffin, former Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, Dolphins outside linebackers coach Ryan Slowik and Dolphins linebackers coach Anthony Campanile have also surfaced as candidates since the Dolphins parted ways with Vic Fangio last month

I mean what are they waiting for Christmas? Seems a lot of teams are making moves. Do we think someone from KC is on the list or San Fran? We could wait ourselves out of anyone worth it.

Hehe. :) That’s what I thought. Don’t know anything about him, but the name alone would be to much pressure imo.

I don't think any experienced DC is going to take this job. Too much of an uphill climb with the talent that will be missing. My guess is they hire a young gun.

    Slightly left of center
At this point I am hoping they don't let Anthony Weaver leave the building. I got a feeling the Ravens are about to make him their DC/Assistant Head Coach tho.

Looks like he ain’t getting a HC job, would be nice if we got him to be our DC.

It's a double edge sword. He would be overqualified and looking for a HC opportunity after one year. Not saying I wouldn't want him but we need a guy to stick around and give some stability on defense.

and, or no experienced DC will take it if they are not allowed a say in what players they can get.

kinda odd he is not being offered a job currently. DC position might give him another door back into head coaching. I'd take him in a heart beat. Likely, any coach you hire is going to be looking for head coach spot.

Just saw a report by Jonathan Davis that said Vrabel has been “hanging out” in Park City, Utah since he got fired. He apparently only had two brief conversations with the Falcons and Commanders and is ok with sitting out the year. Not interested in a coordinator position.

Take that for what it’s worth. I wouldn’t want him as a DC either, because as Tuanon4life said, he’d only be here for one season. I’d rather get a DC lifer or an up and coming position coach; someone who will commit several seasons to the job.

Not only that, but his defenses are a lot different than what the Dolphins have been running. I’d rather get a DC that’s more along the lines of a Fangio scheme than what Vrabral runs. Although, Vrabel’s defenses seem to give KC problems. Although, the Titans are 2-2 against the Bills since McD and Allen have been there. So that’s worth a consideration. MM with Tua is 1-3 against the Bills, so not a lot worse, but the Titans have been better.

Hopefully it not only improves our D, but the loss of two top defensive coaches negatively affects the Ravens, just as losing Gannon hurt the Eagles.

Im talking about guys like Dick LeBeau, Jim Schwartz, Spagnuolo, etc. Guys who know what they’re best at and are good with it, or guys who maybe got their shot and realize they are better as a coordinator than as the head honcho. Are there tons of them? No, but they are out there.

Former Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry has reportedly found a new home. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Barry will be joining Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s staff. Barry will be the team’s linebackers coach and run game coordinator.

Barry was fired by the Packers following their elimination from the playoffs last month. He spent three years on Matt LaFleur’s staff in Green Bay before being relieved of duties. Barry has been a linebackers coach for several teams and had other defensive coordinator stints with Washington and Detroit earlier in his career.

The Dolphins tabbed Anthony Weaver as their new defensive coordinator. Anthony Campanile, who was the team’s linebackers coach in 2023, also interviewed for the position and it’s unclear what, if any role he will have on this year’s staff.
