The writing g was in the wall last year he wanted the eagles and now they hired him. We’re cooked we have massive issues on defense and now we installed a new system and he leaves. Wonder why he felt this wasn’t worth staying he was being paid extremely well. we’re taking a step back next year imho.
Man let's at least see who the replacement is. He left because his family is all around Philly, he just wasn't a great fit here. Really seemed like he wanted Philly to start with but there was some weird stuff going on with them last offseason so he came here instead. With that job open again he wanted to make the move. Most likely move is that we promote our LB coach, Anthony Campanile, who has been drawing some DC interest from teams like the Giants and is seen as an up and comer. Personally, and I seriously doubt it happens, but if Vrabel doesn't get a HC job I'd take him in a heartbeat. Brandon Staley may be an option as well, from that Shanahan tree and may have some familiarity with McDaniel.
But yeah I don't get Crossman still being here. Our special teams feels more like a liability than an asset.
The really frustrating thing with Crossman and the Special Teams is that when they just do things the easy way, everything is fine. Boot kick offs out of the back of the end zone. Don't return kickoffs and just take the touchback. Don't return punts, just fair catch them. Punt the ball deep and if its a touchback, we're fine. Don't try 55 yard field goals in poor conditions, etc. But then they keep trying to get cute and be more than they are, and it feels like it kills them every time in game changing ways. Kickoffs returned for TDs. Punts short out of bounds. Kickoff returns that end up tackled inside the 15 yard line and/or fumble. Missed really long FGs that give the other team great field position. If you have the talent to be great, then sure, trying those things can be an advantage and a weapon. But when you don't, then you're only going to hurt yourself. It drives me nuts.
I did not like we had two great press corners, yet we used them as soft zone defenders and asked a single guy to cover some of the fastest guys running across the field.
I see some saying he was fired with no info to support that. You could also assume he didn't like the culture here and/or knew this was a sinking ship with the cap situation.
We're probably going to be obligated to play a simpler scheme next season with Cam Smith replacing Howard. And who knows who our starting SS will be with Elliot a FA.
Not sure about that. It is possible we lose Baker, AVG, X, Wilkins, Elliot, the 2 DE will likely be middle of the road kind of things. Apple may not be back. Might as well run what the new DC wants to run and get players that fit.
You should actually learn about the things you decide to talk about. Between McD’s parting words and players being really vocal about him leaving it’s clear he was let go.
They give up picks for head coaches, why not cordinators under contract. They could have worked it to where hey we give you this chump and you give us a 2nd and we will let Fangio out of contract.
Yeah, it's in the collective bargaining agreement, “clubs are not permitted to exchange draft choices or cash for the release of individuals who are under contract to another organization,” but it includes a provision that excludes head coaches and other “high-level club employees” from that prohibition. High level employees would be DCs.
Nope. I mean, if Philly wanted to be nice they could have given the Dolphins something. But, they wouldn’t and neither would any other team.
Lmao… Can’t comprehend what you read either? Nice try at cutting out some of the rule though. Nice touch. You can’t trade a coordinator. It’s pretty clear in what you half posted and I fully posted. A coordinator doesn’t have the same or equal responsibilities and authority as the owner, HC, or GM. Not even close. Want more proof? How about common sense. Do you think any team owner or HC would ever give up the opportunity to get a player or draft picks? Do you really believe the Dolphins had the opportunity to get one or more of these things and from the goodness of their own hearts said “no”? Comical
