Tua isn't going anywhere. Please everyone accept that before we have to go through months on nonsense.

Yeah this team has its core. Need to address some weaknesses of course, but we're definitely on the right track. I just hope this season doesn't end with no playoff wins because you know what this board will be like after that. We'll be back to anti-Tua vs. pro-Tua again even though QB is no longer an issue.

I am not a hater on TUA I’m not but he has t earned a top 5 salary in the NFL he just hasn’t. Hes had one good year with some crap games against good teams. If we sign him to a max contract this teams ****ed

The choice isn't between give him record money or get rid of him. They will negotiate and maybe they come to a deal and maybe they won't but week 1 in 2024 the starter will be Tua.

I would be really surprised if Tua wants record money knowing what it means for the team's future success. I'd be willing to bet Tua gets paid but it's team friendly like Brady did to keep talent in NE. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see Tua being that greedy at the expense of losing guys like Wilkins, AVG, or Waddle to FA.

He would also be an injury away from costing himself a lot of money if he doesn't sign long term. Playing every game means the Dolphins can justify committing to him but the injury history is still leverage they can and should use.

    Howard is out.

Going by McDaniel's press conference today, I would say that Hunt is playing, Baker is 50/50 and Waddle and Mostert are still out.

If Mostert can’t go, I’d rather see Brooks out there than Wilson. I just think he brings more to the table at this point. Wilson’s preseason injuries have held him back all season.

As far as Howard goes, I think it’s definitely time to move on from him this offseason. We need to get younger, healthier and cheaper at that position. Thought Smith would be the heir apparent to that spot, but Fangio seems to think otherwise.

Waddle practiced today, so maybe he’ll be able to go on Sunday.

I don't think he practiced. He was just catching balls on the side.

Would be big if we had Waddle, Hill, Baker and Hunt on the field.

Didn't Brady already have his huge money contracts done? I'd be stunned if Tua takes anything less then 25 million a year which would be double what he makes today.

The going rate for QB's right now is $50+ million a year.

exactly, Today he makes right at 10 million. Again I would be stunned if the signs for less then 25 million a year to be nice to the team :)

Anything less than $30 million would be a steal. Tua deserves a fair salary relative to other top QBs in the league. I just don't see him pushing for $50 million a year like others have gotten recently. High 30s to low 40s is where I see Tua landing. That's the lower end of top tier.

    Holy Batman’s balls 50 million a year!

TUAs agent will not let him go for half that a season especially with his concussion concerns. He’s still on a rookie contract and this is his one time to make as much as he can for the rest of his life. I get that but if the fro t office gives him that they could easily mess up the team for the next 5 years if he gets injured.

I just don’t think he’s worth 50 million yet and I’d be upset if we did that tbh.

Being nice to the team would be taking $40M a year rather than the $50M a year his new contract is going to be.

So if we aren’t going to pay Tua the going rate for a top QB, what are our options going forward?

need to see a few things, but they would be unpopular here. I might even go crazy and sign/trade him to one of the top teams in the draft and draft a qb in top 3. Yes it would facilitate a semi rebuild but I think it is going to have to happen anyway. That’s for another discussion

Tua sucks but let's trade him for a top 3 pick.

Didn’t say that man. People here live to twist **** up. It’s my opinion he’s not currently worth 50m a year sorry that’s my opinion. I need to wait and see what they looking for, I’m just saying it’s an option.

lol. That is NOT a good idea. We spent decades trying to find a franchise QB. We have one now and you want to gamble again? Don't forget how much of a crapshoot even the #1 pick is when picking a QB. Most are busts or perform no better than average. This team has a very good core. It would be wasted if we lost our QB.

There is no other way forward than to sign Tua long term (to a fair deal, at market prices of course), try to keep as much of the "core" intact, and then try to address the remaining weaknesses on this team. Those are OL, TE, LB, backup QB and of course depth. We are at a point where we need to find a way to get over that last threshold of becoming a dominant team. No time for a rebuild, semi or not. And it's fantastic to be able to say that after 2 decades of trying to rebuild.

If you (Miami) don’t think Tua is a long term solution at the position, then what makes you think another team will give up a top 3 pick for him?

It was the same thing with Tannehill. He's not the guy but we could probably trade him for two first round picks.

Trading Tua would be the greatest blunder and dumbest thing this organization has ever done.

Plus, it’s the Patriots - there were probably some under the table/against the rules payments made. I wouldn’t put anything past them.
