You finally got it? No, I doubt that. All you "get" is the preconceptions you bring in. And you know what you're free to do with those.
I’m watching the game and it’s a dog fight. Would rather KC lose. Always want to the Bills to lose. I don’t care if it helps us. LET THEM LOSE.
Just when you thought Giants-Jets was the worst offensive football game you’ve ever seen, the NFL presents: Minnesota vs Las Vegas.
I swear, it's like some of you haven't watched any Dolphins football the last 25 years. This time hasn't won the AFC East in FIFTEEN YEARS. You're talking about getting the number one seed, Jeez, can they just win the division first? How about having a home playoff game, which they haven't had in SEVEN years? How about WINNING a playoff game, which they haven't done in TWENTY-THREE years? Worrying about the number one seed at this point, with four games left yet, is just sheer hubris.
Yes. We’re looking at the windshield because that’s where we’re headed. It’s nice to look in the rearview mirror, history IS important. But if you only look in the rearview mirror, you’re going to eventually crash.
No, I'm not going to crash anything because I'm not steering the car. The coach and the players are, and judging by how he's talking to the team on Hard Knocks, they are VERY aware of the past. They're also focused on one thing: winning the next game. Short-term goals. Win the game, make the playoffs, win the division. I will guaran-damn-tee you that they aren't thinking about the seeding. All I can control are my expectations.
Why do you think what happened 5-10 years ago has any relevance today when practically every player on the team is different and the evidence is massive that this team is different? I already posted key statistical differences. Ignoring all that and just thinking we're cursed is not a good way of making accurate predictions. It's not hubris to talk about the #1 seed when we actually have it!! Or.. technically, "had" it pending tomorrow's outcome. We currently have a 39% chance of getting the #1 seed. It is not hubris to talk about this. It's realistic.
The past matters because there've been many other seasons where not just this team but many other teams have only needed one win or two wins to win their division and the second place team seemed totally out of the running, yet that second place team came back and won the division. I'm not saying that is what's GOING to happen, I'm saying you can't just assume it won't because we don't want it to. It would be awesome if everything goes perfect and we win out and don't have to worry about it.
Sorry.. this team is totally different. Different players, different coach, vastly improved performance. Past does NOT apply here.
Bills win!!! We can lose a game and still not have to worry about KC. Have to hope the Ravens lose another, against Jags, SF or Pitt so that we can still lose a game and get the #1 seed with a win against the Ravens. Go Dolphins!
I think you're right. KC losing today made that possible because it's just head-to-head with the Ravens. Oh.. and I think now we're all on the same page regarding Buffalo: we can all root against them the rest of the way lol.
I have confidence they'll lose 1-2 more. They've been losing a lot of games they shouldn't have lost. Big question for the Bills is whether they can leapfrog 3 other teams to get into the playoffs. Their chances right now are estimated to be 19%, but I don't think that simulator takes into account opponent strengths. Anyway, it's still relatively low.
Look I know this may sound a bit irrational, but I do not want to have to play Buffalo in the playoffs. They scare me just as much as any of the top echelon of teams do. Obviously it shouldn't matter and we're going to have to go through these teams to get to the Super Bowl, I'm just saying, I'd rather not have to deal with them.
I think the great thing about the AFC is there are no teams clearly better than us. Our biggest weakness is playing away from home in cold, inclement weather. So if we somehow manage to avoid that as much as possible (even #2 seed helps) that will go a long way towards a SB run. I'd have different sentiments if we were in the NFC. SF is just dominant, and I think Philly would still be favored against us.
I'm not sure if I agree with that. Our biggest weakness this season has been playing teams with defenses that can get pressure with a 4-man rush.
Well we're perfect at home so far. I don't think that's just a coincidence. Home field advantage is real, partly due to ref bias, familiarity with the environment, and support from the crowd. I expect that to continue for us in the playoffs.
The Bills are the team we don't want to see in the playoffs. I think they the only game they have a chance at losing is next week.
Of course not but this is what they do. They look like world beaters one week and then lose to a bottom feeder the next. They have one of the best ceilings in the league but they aren't trustworthy week to week.
Y'all need to start realizing this isn't the same old Dolphins. Cam Cameron, Joe Philbin, Adam Gase or Brian Flores aren't walking through that door.
