Yesterday news broke that Phillips had torn his achilles and that he would miss the rest of the season I feel it’s a major blow to our defense, and I’m not sure who’s going to replace him. He was doing very well.

what options do we have to replace him going into the playoffs I know, we say next man up, but we don’t have somebody that’s going to replace his productivity on a defense that still has some issues

Van Ginkel and his incredible strip-sack technique will play well in that position. It is a huge blow but we'll make due.

McDaniel said it won't be a player stepping in to do the job he was doing so there needs to be an adjustment to the strengths of the available players. We'll be okay if Fangio can scheme well, not just for Van Ginkel, but for everybody else as well.

    Basically, it's next men up

Hate to see injuries -but when they happen on fields that are problematic it is even more frustrating.I would think the NFL would want to protect their players they invest in.

Not when it costs the owners money.

What is the actual point of the NFL Players Union if they can't get this **** changed? If all the players just said "**** you, we aren't playing on these injury creating ****holes any more" to the owners and refused to play on these **** fields, they'd be switched over in a week.

Yep. It’s gonna take more than a handful of players complaining on social media after a teammate gets hurt to get the attention of the owners - who you would think would want to protect their high priced player investments as much as possible.

They do it when they host soccer teams because futbol clubs only play on grass. They just don't think NFL players' health and career are worth investing in outside of salaries.

Which is patently ridiculous. $12 million to convert 14 fields is like change under the couch cushions to a league that counts its revenue in the billions.

It's a massive blow as for me he's one of the best edge players in the league. I still see a ton of JT in his game.

The problem for the defence is that Van Ginkel has been the 3rd LB in the middle rotation so if he gets moved to the edge full time it's back to Duke Reilly or 1 injury away from Tindall seeing the field which is a scary thought.

I'd seriously give Leonard a look even as just cover for the middle to allow Van Ginkel to move to the edge full time.
