Not saying Jones is…that would be silly but like with so many rookie or young quarterbacks in the league, teams don’t develop offensive schemes that play to those quarterbacks strengths.

“This is the NFL…this is how we do it”, which is why so many quarterbacks that COULD have had successful careers fail. Teams ask them to play schemes that are contrary to what they do well.

The Patriots are in full rebuild mode, whether they realize it or not. Belichick’s time in NE has come to an end and if Kraft was smart, he’ll let Belichick go, hire an actual GM and take a page out of Miami’s playbook…strip the team and get as many draft picks as possible.

But even if they were to do that, I can’t think of a HC candidate off the top of my head that would be able to endure and come out of a rebuild like that.

The Patriots are going the be the dumpster of the AFC East for at least 10 years.

The Dolphins are a Bills loss away from a perfect bye week.

Burrow with 2 4th quarter interceptions, image if Tua did that. To be fair, he threw a good ball on the 3rd and goal that the receiver just flat out dropped in the endzone which would have put them ahead 31-27.

CJ Stroud just seems to have it, he's going to be special.

I wonder how the ESPN QBR works as it seems to be very subjective. Burrow had a passer rating of 90 (average) yet a QBR of 37 which is horrible. Meanwhile Stroud had a passer rating of 87 (slightly below average) while a QBR of 71.1 which is very, very good as the top rated QB's on the season are 76,75,72,72, 69. They have Tua down in 8th place with a QBR of 65.

No one knows. It's based on EPA, but then has 10,000+ lines of proprietary code trying to account for all kinds of "context", including "clutch" etc. ESPN had a major embarrassment on their hands with QBR when people noticed that the highest ever QBR of 99.9 belongs to Charlie Batch, who in 2010 went 12 for 17 for 186 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs.
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/1490/type/nfl/year/2010

Something is VERY wrong with their proprietary metric when that is supposedly the greatest game ever played by a QB.

Also shows you how difficult it is to "account for context" in a consistent way that doesn't lead to such embarrassing results. ESPN put a lot of effort into this.

We have posters saying that Sam Howell is better than Tua.

cbrad is 100% correct. These posters hate Tua because Tua has shown that he's far better than they said he would be before the draft. They were angry that the Dolphins picked him over a guy like Herbert. Most (not all) of these posters have had no problem admitting when they have been wrong about other players. We've all been wrong about players. For some reason they can't stand that they have been wrong about Tua. Now, some of these people are clearly not Dolphins fans, they are trolls, but even when faced with irrefutable proof of being wrong they still choose to die on a hill that has been leveled.

Tua has had back-to-back elite seasons. Last season his ONLY criticism should have been he was injured. And even then, injuries happen to all players and it's unfair to base worth on injuries such as the ones he received. It's not like Tua is constantly pulling a groin or something else that shows poor physical traits. The hit he took against Cinci last year was brutal and unreasonable. Any QB taking that hit would have been concussed and if Tua had been Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers, or nearly any other QB the player who hit them would have been flagged, fined, and considered a POS. When it happens to Tua, Tua is called "injury prone". And even when Tua works on a method to prevent those types of injures he's ridiculed and mocked. It's absurd.

If Tua keeps up this pace for the rest of the season there is no reasonable person that wouldn't declare him as an elite QB. Remember though, elite players don't have elite games or seasons over and over. Sure, some of the greatest ever, Rice, Brady, Marino, Manning, etc typically did have many elite seasons in a row, and no one is claiming that Tua will even be in that category (he may one day be), but for some reason if Tua doesn't do that then he's a bust. If he does do that it's because of his surrounding cast. According to some here, and even though he's playing elite right now, he's still "average at best" or " a product of the system. It's just ridiculous at this point.

It looks like week 4 really was Buffalo’s Superbowl this year.

Remember we only scored 70 because it was against the “terrible” Broncos who have now beat KC and Buffalo.

I think initial expectations are too often unrealistic. Sure the Broncos have a Super Bowl winning quarterback but did anyone truly believe Payton was going to come in and the Broncos were just going to take off like a bat out of hell?

It takes time for new coach’s schemes to take root. McDaniel lucked out a bit here in Miami offensively but we all see how it took several weeks for Fangio’s defense to start gelling.

I don’t think Denver has any realistic shot at the playoffs but they are certainly going to play spoiler now for teams that are vying for them.

    We still play:

Raiders (2-game winning streak against bad teams)
@ Jets (no offense to speak of, but @Jets and that defense does make this a little questionable)
Washington (dumpster fire of a season)
Titans (even more of a dumpster fire)
    Jets (should be a blowout)
Cowboys (pretty good team, maybe a loss)
@Ravens (good team but we've spanked them two seasons in a row, made Lamar look dumb)
Bills (as in the 2023, 2nd half of the season Bills. No longer scary)

I personally see us getting to 11 wins with three games left to play. Cowboys and @Ravens will be tough games, and the Bills at home could be a challenge if the Bills start playing like the Bills again. But to me it feels more likely that we are resting starters in week 18.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked to see us finish 8-0 or 7-1.

What I’m about to say is going to be quite unpopular…but since when did I ever care about popularity?

It’s not just this thread, it’s the entire site!

This site was the alternative to Finheaven, which I left due the the personal rancor where the site wasn’t fun anymore. Here at thephins, everything had a discipline about it if you will…

Dolphins news and topics were in the Dolphins forum

AFC East news and topics were in the AFC Rivals forum

Other NFL news and topics were in the other NFL forums.

Now it’s all been tossed in one big heap of mess, where anything and everything is tossed not only into the Dolphins forum, but any thread.

At times when I log on, I ask myself why? Why am I even bothering? The only thing that comes to mind is my love for the Dolphins outweighs cluster I so often see. But you do notice, since this site has become so undisciplined, the number of posters has dwindled down to a handful.

At this rate, I wonder how much longer this site will be around.

I've thought that for a number of years now; the bickering chases members away and the forum slowly dies. People don't log in here to be called stupid...they come to celebrate the Dolphins. Yet it's almost never-ending fights over absolutely nothing. Galant finally moved on because he just didn't see the point anymore, and it's become worse without an active moderator.

He's doing really good, by the way. Galant took a big promotion at work (tech/IT job) last year and he's an associate pastor. We still chat every now and then by email and I've got to know him some. He still loves the Fins but is staying busy.

Galant used to start new topics daily on Dolphins news, etc. and nobody has really filled that role here. It was helpful because it sort of drowned out the 'hate threads' where the arguments constantly take place- it gave folks an option to avoid that. With so few new topics though, the in-fighting is everywhere. For those who want to help the site, just start grabbing news articles, Twitter posts, etc and start a new thread since it gives other things to talk about.

On the other hand, we need less topics about whether Tua is good or bad. I mean seriously, LOL. If people don't like him by now, they probably never will. Respect that and move on, LOL. He has the quickest release in football and throws very accurate passes...and we're winning because of it. All good stuff and it's a great time to be a Dolphins fan.

I still post because I care about my friends here and enjoy celebrating with them and keeping up with what's happening with the team. I think that's why most of you still log in as well. We can all help this site grow once again by letting go of the desire to fight and just posting more topics on Miami Dolphins football. A few Bills, Pats, and Jets topics wouldn't hurt either, LOL, since they're all reeling at the moment.

It's everyone's choice to stay or go, just like it's everyone's choice to make this site better or worse for their fellow Fin fans. If I get a vote, I'd say we should focus on self-policing this forum and making it more positive for the reasons we actually come here each day. It's up to you guys though.

The Tua discussion is also far from being relevant. It made sense in the aftermath of the draft in regards to whether they took the right one. It made sense when they may have moved on but now he is certainly going to be the QB of the future.

What we have is a forum that you really don't want to visit when they lose because you have people that only show up to rub it in.
