This game came down to playcalling (should have stuck to the run game), poor offensive line play, and a few dumb mistakes (miscommunications, dropped balls, etc) I think this offense misses Achane more than we know. If, after the BYE, the Dolphins can come back with most of their starting oline, Achane healthy, and some of their defensive players knocking some rust off these past two games, we can beat anyone.
I largely agree. The big games is where McDaniels is lacking so far, it's the last resume point he needs. We can miss Achane for sure, but also, being THAT reliant on a slightly built RB is maybe not ideal either. And we need to not be able to beat anyone, we need to be able to beat 3, in a row.
My post wasn't to make an excuse, but more to temper expectations and refute the "We can't beat real NFL teams' narrative. 2 of our 3 losses are against last year's SB teams. One of which may have the greatest of all time QB's ever and NOW has the 2nd best defense in the league. I don't normally say this, but the refs totally cost the Dolphins a win against the Eagles. And the Bills just have our number (especially in their house). Remember, last season we split with the Bills. The Jets and Pats seem to have the Bills number. That happens with division rivals. Hell, we almost beat Buffalo in their house with a 3rd string, rookie QB last year. We're close to all of these so called "contenders". As for being handled...I agree that Buffalo "handled" us, not so much with the Eagles and KC, however.
Achane makes the entire offense better. Even Mostert seems to run better when Achane plays. I think his injury really hurt this offense. Maybe not as much as if Tua or Tyreek were to be hurt, but enough that it takes away some of our explosiveness.
Who used it as an excuse or crutch? I didn't. I brought it up because some were calling it a "choke" by Tua.
Looks like Tua audibles and Wilson didn't pick it up. It was a clear back shoulder/corner throw. It wasn't a lame duck underthrow like some posters have stated.
This is probably the worse I’ve seen Tua play in awhile. It’s one game but he looked off. Overthrowing people. Missing reads. I’m just so used to the “show”. A couple weeks off are coming at a good time.
Exactly. I'm not sure where some people find the positive in 3 straight bad losses to good teams. I guess good for them?
It's ridiculous that you won't simply put the blame on Tua, when he deserves it. He missed Waddle for a TD energy he wasn't even covered. Tua has aunt big mistakes. He wasn't perfect or free from blame.
The stats I used are what is true today. And I clearly said that if the stats stay the same, but we've already played 3 games against the 2nd and 3rd ranked defenses. If, for some reason, all 8 of those teams end up dropping out of the top 10 (Which won't happen, especially because they play the Dolphins, like you asserted) then my post won't matter. However, right now, those rankings are current. Again, you're not making any sense.
You mean blame Tua for the loss? You're right, I won't, because that's just not true. That's not saying that Tua didn't make mistakes. QB's make mistakes every game, but he didn't fumble (like Mahomes), he didn't throw an INT, and he put up the exact same points as the Chiefs offense. He put up about a 90 passer rating (I haven't looked it up yet). Which for him is really bad, but that's about average. It just so happens that the Dolphins can't seem to win when Tua has an average game. I mean, Mahomes has had 3 games with a passer rating under 78 (One 59 against the Broncos) and their team has a better record than the Dolphins. Why do you think that is? The only thing disingenuous are those that expect Tua to have a 158 passer rating every game and go undefeated to be considered an elite QB. The fact that he's led the league in nearly all passing stats over the past two seasons is conveniently overlooked buy those people. In fact, those same people disappear for weeks at a time only to rear their pointy heads back in here when Tua has an average game. lol
It was his worst game of the season. I just looked it up and he had an 88 passer rating. Up until today, he was the only QB in the NFL that hadn't posted a less than 90 passer rating all season. When Tua has an average game it looks so bad to us Dolphin fans because we're used to seeing him have above average to elite games every week.
What is your definition of "rattled"? He looked calm to me. I think he made one dumb throw. If by "rattle" you mean having people in his face all game and needing to move off platform, scramble more than usual, and getting sacked more than most games....then I guess he was rattled.
McDaniel didn't help him today, he was routinely getting plays in late and admittedly had miscommunications and bad play calls.
He probably stutters a lot and takes forever to call in plays i really believe he is autistic Maybe he should just point to a play and let someone else call it in.
Yeah, MM definitely looked like a 2nd year HC today. It really sucks, not only to lose, but this stupid narrative being perpetuated by stupid people. The "they haven't beaten a good team" mantra so they can't be that good. Yet we have some of these "real" teams losing to horrible teams each week. 49ers, Bills, KC, Ravens, Eagles...they've all lost to sub .500 teams. I guess to some people losing to bad teams is better than losing to good teams? Or, are these teams Miami has lost to not good? So does that mean Miami has only lost to bad teams, also? This line of thinking is just stupid. These are all NFL teams.
He doesn't stutter and he's not autistic. I do think, however, that he just outthinks himself at times and gets the play in late because of that.
Is it better to lose to good teams or bad teams? Or, since KC lost to some bad teams, does that mean they're bad and thus we lost to a bad team and are the same as them? This type of thinking is really funny to me. I can picture the hamsters running around in the heads of people who think this way. It's a conundrum to be sure...lmao
A disappointingly anticlimactic ending to a brilliant second half display on both sides of the ball. Plenty of missed opportunities, but the one that stands out for me was Waddle wide open. Still in a very good position, but we need to win the rest of the regular season games to put us in good shape for the playoffs.
I just can't get behind making excuses for every ****ing loss like you guys do. I want wins. Building a record off of beating bad teams means we get one and done in the playoffs. Who ****ing cares? You can stick your head in the sand, I won't. Beating bad teams is nothing more than beating bad teams.
Watching Sam Howell and this is the kind of guy Miami needs. Tough mentally and physically. Just needs to work on throwing it away.
This team just isn't good enough. They're going to wind up maybe 10-7, lose the division to the Bills and lose again in the first round of the playoffs. They're not going anywhere.
10-7 won't make the playoffs in the afc. To think this team has a realistic chance to miss the playoffs after starting 6-2
LOL coach confirmed it was the wrong route by Wilson..... QB was kinder and referred to it as a a miscommunication. Care to rethink your "blame Tua" position?
I see Bills, Ravens, Bengals, Jaguars, Chiefs definitely getting 11 plus. I strongly believe two other teams will get 11 wins too.
The Bills are going to be 5-4 after tonight with games @Eagles, @Chiefs, Cowboys, @DOLPHINS, and @Chargers. The Bills are more likely to miss the playoffs.
The Bills are going to be 5-4 after tonight with games @Eagles, @Chiefs, Cowboys, @DOLPHINS, and @Chargers. IMO 7 loses is very likely.
List the excuses from me that you're referring to that don't involve the Philadelphia Eagle Refs vs Miami. I won't hold my breath.
Even more unlikely. 7 teams with 11+ records?? No way. Let me just point out that all 5 teams thus far with 10-7 records have gotten into the playoffs (in 2021 and 2022), with a few 9-8 teams in there too. 10-7 will make it. You realize we only need to go 4-4 to get to 10-7. That's far more likely than not. Playoff simulator right now has us at 89% chance of making the playoffs despite your negative outlook on the Dolphins.
