He's such a disappointing player. He had that bust or boom factor and I'm not ready to call him a bust yet because its obviously early but he does need to improve a whole lot to be good. The guy can't cover, can't use his hands. He just runs downhill and hopes to out-muscle you.
Naaahhh that cant be true. That's what I was preaching going into the draft.... Truth be told. I think he will still be an above average player. He is quite an athlete...but it is going to take the right coach and the right situation for him to shine. I was dead against Jake Long...boy was I wrong
The thing that jumps out at me is Favre's lack of mobility, he no longer really can move around, if a player comes near him, he is sacked, sort of like Vinny Testaverde at the end of his career. He still has the arm, but the legs are shot, he is a pass throwing statue at this point in his career.
The question is, can he learn all this stuff? Remember, he struggled with the playbook which is why you see him mostly blitzing. They are just asking him to run downhill this season. Can he learn all the stuff? Because he has a whole lot to learn. He over- pursues plays, he's a liability in coverage, he can't play ST's and he can't do much blitzing. Why activate him on game days if he can't do squat for you? Btw, good call on Gholston prior to the draft.
Those were my two huge gripes on the guy. I challenge ANYBODY to go back to those draft threads. As I stated, if I was running against Gholston, it would be two counter plays away from him, then directly at him. He would end up spinning around in circles. I watched him take HIMSELF out of pretty much every play against LSU in the Championship last year. That being said, he does have some of the exact same make-up LT had.. Not saying he is anywhere near that, but in the right system, where you could just turn him loose, he could really rack up some numbers IMO.
Vincent Jackson couldn't in the friggin endzone?!?!?!? The other FFB league I was in that I thought I had won is now a 3 point game because of Tomlinson and he has Cromartie too. So I need Cromartie to do nothing the rest of the night and Tomlinson too. Another TD for NY. What happened to the Chargers defense?
I certainly agree. Physically, I think he matches up well. If he's in a system like the Chargers where all they do is let Merriman loose, then he could be a successful player.
Depends on how well the kid takes coaching & direction. All the natural talent in the world is only worth so much if you're dumb as a bag of doorknobs and can't elevate your skills.
Nahh, not if he that raw alen, a OLB has to at least be able to act like they can move in reverse, if he cannot diagnose plays he will have draws run at him until he can stop them. He is young he could bulk up and play DE if he flops at OLB.
The biggest problem I have with him is that he's just a phsyical specimen and that's it. He's a body builder playing football. I'm not sure he knows how to do anything but run downhill in football after he hears "hike!"
If they had not tried & failed at both two point conversions and kicked the PAT they would be within two scores. Gotta love it.
I could go two blocks away to Gold's and find a dozen guys that fit that mold - it's useless as a football player.
