I’m not sure how to act. I’ve been a phin fan for so long. It’s like the dog who’s been beaten regularly and then gets placed in a new home. The new master is so nice but I’m just waiting for the abuse to begin. I keep looking from side to side and say to myself “self, is this really the home we always wished for”.
I keep looking around to see if Allen Funt or Ashton Kutcher are recording me to make fun of me for having the audacity to believe any of this is real.
How it started: Sean Payton be like: "Alright, boys. If we focus too much on Tyreek Hill, the other guys are going to kill us. We're not gonna let the Dolphins other wide receivers beat us today. I want you to shut them down!" How it went:
At some point, just playing the odds it was bound to happen, especially in a salary cap era. However, all this is for naught if we don’t win a SB. I think if we stay healthy we’ll have a 1 in 4 chance this year the way we’re playing. If somehow we continue this next year while Hill is still here that’s maybe a 50% of a SB win. Looks good on paper, but they got to deliver. Good times tend not to last long so you got to take advantage.
Not thinking about Super Bowls right now. Today's win felt great but if I'm betting between any team vs. the field, I'm taking the field every single time. It's too hard to win and anything can stifle a team's season. I'm just excited to see how we play next week because last season taught me that a hot start can be fool's gold. Per McDaniel's presser last week, nobody gets to the playoffs with three wins.
I just looked at the schedule. I don’t want to get caught up in hyperbole but… If we BEAT the Bills next Sunday…and I mean win comfortably, we’re going to win against the Eagles. If we win against the Eagles, we’re going to win against the Chiefs. If we win THOSE 3 games, we’re going to the dance.
Whatever our eventual regular season record it’s essential we get that 1st round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. We get that and it’ll be a coin flip at worst to get to the SB, even against KC.
Again, not wanting to put the cart before the horse but if we are blessed enough to not only make the playoffs, but also get that 1st round bye, we’re going to the dance. But even if we don’t, consider my above scenario… If we win those 3 games I mentioned…all of them away games…in addition to the 2 away games we’ve already won, that’s 5 of 8 away games won. Assuming we win all of our home games, we’re in. And if we do win those games, winning on the road won’t be a foreign concept to us.
Buffalo opens as -2.5 favorites. A bit surprised tbh. Either way this is a must win game for us if the goal is to be 1st place in the AFC. Hopefully the haters will be kept silent once again after Buffalo!
Not really. It's in Buffalo, and they are also rolling. They also have historically been good in the last few years while we are new money to a degree.
A playoff win at minimum is what I’d be happy with. Anything else would be a bonus. Although Tua will need to get paid next season so we do have an excellent window at the moment.
We haven’t done anything yet. I don’t want to be Colorado St. the Bills opening up as favorites should be a wake up call.
i mean, we all got a chuckle at that weird Bills MNF game against the Jests ... but overall they are the second highest scoring team behind us and have given up the third fewest points. Josh Allen has looked really good the past two weeks. This is a huge game for both teams, I can see this being a slugfest with both teams just trading haymakers.
Oh, head coaches I’ve had the most distaste for… Belichick Payton Gase Philbin Buddy Ryan Mike Ditka Bill Parcells Lindy Infante Tom Landry Barry Switzer My list of POS coaches is a tad bit longer.
I respect your list but stand by my post. I honestly took pleasure while watching Payton trying to hold it together in his post-game media session. I was worried that the rumors were true that Ross was trying to bring Payton to Miami to coach Tom Brady. That was going to be like Nick Saban on Vicodan.
I was as well. If Ross had pulled off his secret squirrel shenanigans, he would have set this franchise back another decade.
I’m actually glad these idiots have Miami as the initial underdog at Buffalo. Put that chip on Miami’s shoulder for the utter disrespect they’re showing the Dolphins. I truly get a kick out of the entire sports industry. Herbert and the Chargers are touted as a stout and respectable team. We defeat them in their stadium on opening day scoring 36 points. Doesn’t matter We then go to Foxborough to face the Patriots. Yes, Belichick no longer has Brady, but he’s a Super Bowl winning coach and always has a stout defense. We BEAT them by running the ball down their throats. Doesn’t matter Our home opener against Denver. Yes, they’re 0-2, but they are a GOOD team that lost their 2 games by a total of 3 points…and since Waddle is going to be out, Hill and Tua aren’t going to be able to throw the ball like we want. We DESTROYED them by 50 points, setting so many records. Doesn’t matter Our first three games, everyone told us how difficult these games were going to be and each time, we proved them wrong and yet, instead of giving us our due respect? Oh no, you’re 2.5 point underdogs.
Got to remember they won the series 2-1 last year and the Dolphins haven't really found a way of stopping Josh Allen. I'm still very concerned about them and I guess the odds makers still don't believe in what we are doing just now. I think Fangio is going to play this game exactly like he did to Herbert, take away the big plays, force them to play underneath and wait on Allen throwing a ball to one of our defenders. Their defence was outstanding this week but it was against Sam Howell, I'll be very surprised if Tua tosses 4 ints next week. Their run defence is very, very suspect (giving up a league worse 5.9 ypc)and if they are planning on shutting down Hill and Waddle then Mostert and Achane are going to pop off again. The more I look into the stats the more I like our chances.
And if you notice 15 just rushes up past the QB allowing for the QB a clear lane to the right to run. Allen will escape that way everytime
Since we're posting amazing stats and records if you will from yesterday's game, here's one for everyone. At the end of yesterday's game, the Miami Dolphins this season have scored 10 touchdowns in 2:08 or less, the most in the NFL this season. This is truly a significant stat. It shows that the Dolphins, if needed, can quickly score.
No good in a 2 minute warning then. FIRE EVERYONE. Oh wait this isn't that thread. I think it's my favourite thing about this offense, we can literally score on any play. Hand off to Achane/Mostert and....they're gone. Go to Waddle/Hill.....and they're gone.
Yeah, I posted something related to this in another thread. The fact that we have the SIX fastest sprints in the league at this point is evidence that not only do we have fast players but they're getting the ball in position to run upfield with nobody in front of them. They're trucking because they're getting it in enough space to step on it. I'll admit that I'm not one who knows how to break down plays, but McDaniel is running stuff that the league isn't ready for. And especially now that we have a rushing attack to complement the downfield game.
I've shared this story here several times over the years, but when I was a teen Dan Marino cussed me out something fierce for asking if this was the year they won the Super Bowl. I think we only had one or two losses throughout the majority of the season, we were dominating, and he looked at me like I was the devil or something. His message was clear and it always stuck with me- you prepare and play for next Sunday since that's all you can control. Everything else doesn't matter. Just focus on today and make the biggest gains you can. If the whole team does that, then it give you the best possible chance of picking up the W. The only thing that matters today is the Bills. Beat the Bills we're one step closer to preparing for the next opponent.
Thanks for sharing it again because that's the first time I read it and it resonates. Last week, Coach said he was reinforcing his message to the team that nobody makes the playoffs with two wins. I'm sure it's ticked up a game since yesterday but I'm hoping he is successful at putting their feet on the ground this week. He'll probably know whether we're likely to win or lose based on how we practice. It's probably a good thing that we're playing Buffalo because it should be easier for the players to motivate themselves than it would if we were playing a 7-point underdog after a huge W.
