Win win. 2 talented backs that know the system on the cheap. Glad they aren't overpaying for a big name at this position.

If this is the team's plan B, it was always my plan A, so I'm good with this development.

Thankfully. Don't want to give up a pick and pay $10M a year for him. He's good but not that good. Haven't seen the contracts yet but I'm guessing we will be paying no more than $6M this year for both Mostert and Wilson.

We need to add some OL now but the market is bat**** crazy for them right now.

Meh...Expect similar production we got this past season which wasn't bad at all.

I hope Jeff Wilson can improve with more familiarity with the system and the players. While a lot like Kyle's system, Mike's was still a little different.

Plus getting more time with Tua to help with their chemistry should hopefully help as well.

Still, I hope at least a late round pick will be a 4th runningback who hopefully will become the new Mitchell.

Mostert contract is on OverTheCap and it's ridiculously cheap. $2.1M this year and only a 650K cap hit if he gets cut next year.

Duke Riley contract is very similar just about 10% cheaper. $1.9M this season and 585K cap hit if cut next season.

Denver has shelled out beaucoup bucks on a couple of guys already (one being McGlinchey from SF).

I'd like us to draft a guy. We seem to do so every other year with a late pick. We hit on Gaskin, the guy after that I think ended up on PS. I agree though, I'd like to see us grab a running back at some point with hopes of hitting on a surprise pick. The Chiefs got Pacheco in like the 7th round I believe? He was amazing for them. Backs don't go as high as they used. We can afford to draft one and see what he can do. Still, I like resigning Mostert and Wilson. Wilson especially should have some good tread left on him. Mostert stayed relatively healthy last year so maybe he's turned the corner. If he can give us 10 games I'll be happy. Wilson is the real gem in this though. He's the one that truly matters. He can find the end zone, he's a guy that can go for 20 carries if needed, he can wear a defense down, glad he's back.

Same. We have a fine starting complement, but a backup in the 4-5th round would be great. It's a nice draft for backs, and they will be there.

That's assuming we still have picks in that area of the draft lol, I can barely keep up with what is being shipped out.

I was really hoping we were going to try and get a stud running back. I heard rumors that Derrick Henry might’ve been a possibility and I had an instant viagra induced erection at the prospect of it.

With that said, I guess this is an ok move.

We have resigned Mostert and Wilson for a combined $4.3M cap hit this season. Henry is going to cost $10M plus a pick or picks. He's also in the final year of his deal and has a ton of mileage on the clock. He's at the stage where he could just fall off a cliff overnight imho, he has had 1750 carries in the NFL now and he's averaged over 20 carries per game for the last 4 seasons. That's a huge workload.

I'm happy with the moves as realistically we could end up getting Mostert, Wilson and have space for Poyer for the same money Henry would have cost.

I'm fine with bringing those three back, they were effective. I would have loved to bring Henry on board though. The guy is an absolute beast.

I’m actually not ok with this. I’m truly puzzled and bewildered. Miami’s running game was what, 27th? 26th in the league last season? This move in bringing back the entire running back corps and not having addressed the OL to help our current running back corps just spells mediocrity in the run game and the lack of importance placed on the running game.

Had we pursued a stud running back and not placed any focus on upgrading the OL, I might’ve been a little skeptical but ok with the signing of a reliable powerhouse running back. But to go the route we’ve gone?

I see a Greek tragedy in the making when it comes to our run game.

The run game did what it had to do for us last year. I think with this team, with McDaniels, Tua, Hill, Waddle...It's all about throwing. Jeff Wilson is 27 years old. He's had some injuries, but he hasn't taken the physical beating that other backs like Ezekiel Elliott has (who is also the same age). I think Wilson is the key to all of this. We can't trust Mostert to stay healthy and as I mentioned Wilson has some injury baggage with him as well, but it'll be up to Wilson to keep the chains moving when it matters the most. He's also going to be our goal line back obviously so I feel pretty good about that. Not saying that your concern isn't warranted, but I'm not nearly as worried about our cast of running backs as I am the offensive line. That to me is STILL the biggest concern with this football team. It's been the biggest concern with this team basically since Marino left. We've been trying to fix the O line since the day we drafted Vernon Carey....His son is now a three year pro in the NBA.

Can we wait until after the draft until we start doom and gloom about Miami's offseason?

Today was the first official day of the offseason. The Dolphins can still draft or sign or trade for a runningback and same with offensive line.

Hell, last year at this time we were moaning about the wide receivers and offensive line, when a week later Miami traded for Hill and signed Armstead.

Im not sure what Metrics you are looking at… team rushing yards per game ?

Individually Wilson and Mostert both rushed for 4.9 YPC last season.

The league average per attempt last season was just 4.4 YPC. They were both a Full half yard above average.

Among all NFL RB’s with Atleast 100 carries to qualify last season. Wilson and Mostert were tied for 10th in the league in yards per carry.

They could be better in the passing game. But they are very productive runners. Just ‘ok’ in the passing game.

Yeah, the issues with the entire RB room was in how they were used, not because they were ineffective when given a chance. One of McDaniel's biggest challenges is to boost up how he utilizes the rushing attack. I'm sure he looked back after the season and realizes he got caught up in taking advantage of his downfield efficiency and ignored using the rush to keep defenses off balance. Hopefully, he's more disciplined in that way this season.

I’m really pleased with this development, as I thought both of them did well last season.

I know that they’re not the best RBs around, but we have other, more pressing needs that must be addressed.

I certainly hope so. Miami’s run game has been anemic to say the least since they days of Ricky Williams…save the one year with Ajayi.

Some love from Saturday Morning Inspection, who always seem like just a couple of guys until they pop up with next gen stats in every video. They compare the money spent on Wilson and Mostert with individual "name" players and think we did well by saving loot while the tandem has outplayed those stars.

Hope Mostert is gonna run as hard as he did at the end of the year.

    Dude tapped into something

And we better take advantage of this rich draft class

    Tajae, Israel Abinikanda, Chase Brown..

If it was me with our limited picks I would find a way and draft Duece Vaughn even if it meant giving up a pick next year to add one this year

I would say based on a lot of info 5th round

But a lot of Gm’s are bad at their job

If he gets past the fourth he’s a steal

He’s going to be the next Darren sproiles

Deuce Vaughan would be a really fun underdog story to root for, no doubt. Super quick- has made a lot of guys look absolutely foolish.

I don't think so either, I see him going early in the second, but you never know. If there’s a highly rated TE available at 51, I’d like to see them go that route. I’d say G or RT, but with Grier’s track record of drafting OL, only if someone else is pushing a particular player.

Just bumping this to show some love to Mostert, whose contract is probably the best value in the league right now. Looks like we got a fresh Wilson as well. If we can get a healthy Achane in the next couple of weeks, we're going to have a deep stable of quality players in that room. Heck, even Darrynton Evans made the most of his two carries.
