Well… thats a massive upgrade.. add in the fact that Poyer might sign as well.. our secondary is elite
Not sure we have the money for that lol, though I guess we can make moves to shift money around or cut some folks.
The dolphins are making sure Rodgers rethinks his decision to go to the jets and send him back to Green Bay.
Not sure how much I like this move. Ramsey is 29, has a lot of guaranteed money on his contract and didn’t play up to his usual standards last year. Plus I’s rather have kept Long and traded Gesicki.
For a 3rd and Long, that is an amazing trade. Ramsey was still one of the best corners in the league last year. X and Ramsey will be a great duo.
Gesicki is a free agent. Can't trade him. Long had 1 catch last year and he wasn't that good at blocking.
That's a steal. Takes the sting away from what I felt was an overpay for Chubb. This organization has pushed in a lot of chips to win now. Go Phins!
This is a great addition. Ramsey is a bit older, but he's very durable and I think we can get a couple of good years out of him. There is no reason what so ever to be complaining about this move and yet here some of you are. Hunter Long was doing NOTHING for us. Be happy we acquired Ramsey.
Only if Howard plays up to his former level. But yes, if Howard plays well we actually do have a good defense. Really like what Grier is doing right now. Everything still hangs on Tua of course, but the rest is shaping up nicely. Still happy about Fangio. I think we should target MLB with our 2nd rounder. That's really the main weakness remaining personnel-wise with the defense.
Gotta see how the FA period plays out first. While MLB would be a good target, we could also use TE or G/T as well. I also wouldn't entirely rule out grabbing a prospect who may "fall" or have high value.
I'll admit, it felt like he had a pretty down year. I know the stats say he was still elite, but from the few Rams games I watched, it seemed he was getting beaten several times. That said, I don't know the assignments and whether he was trying to make up for a blown coverage or bad call or something. But the thing that kind of struck was a local radio show (debating whether he would fit the Lions) bring up how he is a guy that runs hot. If you are competing and have energy, he will be a wrecking ball and terror. If your team goes cold and starts to fall off, he can also fall backwards. For us, we are definitely surrounded in excitement, energy and hope. For now. But for that low cost I don't really care, worth the chance 100/100 times. Say what you want about Grier, he isn't going down looking at strike three, he's gonna swing.
Now we have 2 extremely highly paid corners who played awful last season. interesting strategy, Hopefully Ramsey and Howard can both bounce back to pro bowl form. But there is a reason they dumped him for a late 3rd. Ramsey is the defininition of a gamble. Usually 30 year old corners don’t bounce back once they decline. But there have definitely been a couple examples. He seems very excited to be coming to Miami. So maybe the change of scenery and new challenge will bring the best out of him again.
I was thinking the same thing. Best in the league two seasons ago, now he's a bum because he wanted to be in Miami. Maybe we can trade him for a Coke machine in the locker room or something like that next year.
I didn't watch one Rams game last year but PFF had him ranked 9th last year at corner out of 32.Ill take that for a 3rd rd pick any day.Howard didn't even make the list.He was terrible last year.
I don't think PFF is the bible, however, they had him as their 3rd best CB. His stats last year were good. In the modern NFL, all cornerbacks are going to get beat. Also, Ramsey allows Miami to sit X a game or two if he pulls a hammy, unlike last year when if X is out then Crossen and rookie Kohou are the starters.
Hopefully we can give the front seven an extra second to get to the QB. Football's a game of dynamics and if Fangio uses them right, they can spring our pass rush.
