Anyone else watching this game on ESPN2? I've been to both of the Cats games this year, they've looked decent, but it's been against terrible competition. It'll be interesting to watch this one on television as opposed to live. I'm pretty shocked to hear the announcing crew talk Freeman up as (potentially) the best QB prospect in the Big 12. He's always been a bit too inconsistent for my tastes, but there's no denying when he's on he looks good. As I type this Freeman just completed a beautiful pass to Deon Murphy.
Yeah, K-State should be up in this game. Louisville has to be happy with the score still zero/zero. Don't know if I agree with them going for it on 4th down, but it works for the Wildcats. Neither defense has looked too impressive. TD Wildcats. I need to type on this thread more often.
He's been up and down most of his career. He's a talented dude, I'm not disputing that at all. Just find it hard to believe in a conference with Sam Bradford in it, that ESPN would call him the best QB prospect. TD Louisville. Terrible pass defense by K-State.
Bradford may be the best QB in the NCAA. That's ESPN for ya though. Who do you compare Freeman to? Tarvaris Jackson? VY?
He's big, 6'6 and 250. He's not as fast as Jackson, and he isn't a run-first pass-second QB like Young. Guess I'd say Culpepper, pre-injury. Or maybe a young Steve McNair.
Oh, wow. I didn't notice he was that big. Sounds like a lighter Culpepper. He seems like a smoother runner than McNair.
I'm not sold on K-State's wideouts this year, though Brandon Banks reminds me a little bit of our own Davone Bess.
If you're looking to scout players that might go to the NFL, the guy I'd look at is Ian Campbell, our RDE (98). 6'5, 255. Former walk-on, but he's been All Big-12 for the last 3 years. Not sure what his 40 is, but he might be someone that can stand up and play in space.
Josh Chichester is killing K-State. He's a freshman, but he's 6'8. So far he's got 4 catches for 55 yards and a TD. He should have had a touchdown on the last play.
Man he's slow for a guy his weight. He runs a 4.87, his high is 5.12. He's a seventh rounder right now after moving to DE from the LB spot. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=33104&draftyear=2009&genpos=DE
I could see him running faster than that at the Combine. He's a motor guy, I would not be surprised to see him in an NFL camp next year.
Reading about him, it says that he has a very good work ethic which is a positive. I can't see him playing Linebacker though unless he's in a heavy Cover 2.
He's better off at DE, no doubt. He got blown up on the TD run earlier. That said, Scott Wright projects him to OLB ... http://www.draftcountdown.com/rankings/olb.php
I was screaming at my TV for the first part of that return. He ran backwards about 12 yards. Great return though.
He's not bad. I don't think he's playing this game though. Pretty solid saftey, but he's not the prospect other guys from our secondary have been. EDIT: His best game came against Texas last year - if there's a game to check him out in, it's probably that one. Man our front 7 is getting beaten up right now.
