I am not 100% with you on this. Think about cases of sexual harassment, assault, rape, etc. A common question asked to victims by defense attorneys is, "Did you tell anyone? Did you report the incident?" The implication of this is almost always, "if something traumatic really happened to you, why didn't you speak out?" In Flores's case, if he is telling the truth, I could see him saying, "There was nobody I could report this to. He was the owner of the team, and I feared losing my job." I do find this believable.

Suppose he met with the coaches and told them, "Old man Ross told me to lose on purpose. We are not doing that, and if he or anyone else approaches you about throwing games, I want to know about it." I can already hear you saying, "Does that make it true?" No, it doesn't, but I do think that it paints a broader mosaic. My perspective would be very different if the only person he told was his wife.

Perhaps Ross says, "it was a joke." I think a lot of despicable behavior is hidden behind "it was just a joke." Ever read up on Shroedinger's Duchebag. Throw something out there, and if the person you were talking to likes it and agrees, you were being serious. If they are repulsed by your overtures, "it was just a joke."

But NONE OF THAT would be first hand admissible in court. That's all hearsay.

Yes, they would need some sort of tangible evidence. I don't think they have squat besides Flores' holier than thou honesty.

From what I heard Grier is the witness. If this goes to court and Ross really was that stupid to say this in front of somebody would Grier lie under oath?

Supposedly, there was someone present that heard ross tell flores he'd pay for loses. Apparently the news outlet that broke the news is partially owned by Ross.... lol

This is such a soap opera. If Harbaugh came to Miami, Grier was out. So Flores was probably counting on him to be that witness. But now nobody's coming to Miami, so Grier is back in...unless he quits. Which he'd be a fool to do.

If this was coming from Flores and Grier though, then it gets a heck of a lot more interesting. I don't think that happens though unless Grier is fired. And let's face it, there's zero chance that happens anytime soon with all this looming.

This is the attitude of someone who only follows the Dolphins and not the NFL. Half the league is clown city man.

I think being in the conversation of worst franchise is bad enough. And we are in that conversation. lack of playoff win..ownership, terrible GM’s (speilmann, ireland, grier). Dying fanbase

we have everything bad that the Lions have. Poverty franchise. Im not even trying to figure out who the worst is. We are in the mix.

Even media pundits are saying “terrible owner”. That’s a death knell. Although, they said that about cinci too and a QB cured that too.

Tua is probably wishing he pulled an Eli manning.

There’s gotta be a way fans can apply enough pressure he sells.

Any black billionaires willing to buy the team? Dr.Dre sounds cool for an owner but really is there any lined up to buy a NFL team i don't know.

    Here's the $64,000 question...

Will the owners circle the wagons to protect one of their own...or will they circle the wagons to protect their own individual brand?

    Exactly.

If it's proven and inescapable that Ross offered money to lose games then due to NFL gambling opening up there's a potential major source of money to protect. They could make a statement about clamping down on it, or they could hope that gamblers factor in tanking teams and accept it as part of the equation, and so it's not a big deal.

    I'm not quite sure.

The health aspect could be brought into it, as it was at the time when Miami were losing badly - asking players to go out there and risk their bodies for games that are being thrown. Not sure the NFL would weigh that as significant though.

I've no idea how this actually will play out. I'm most interested in seeing how certain it is that Ross did this, and if anything more comes out about how Ross treated Flores - was he fired because of this.

Yes, basically. The only new information is the they've started the investigation, but that was already assumed.
I assume Rapp made inquiries into the state of the investigation, was told it is just underway, and threw out a summary of events. Perhaps someone wanted the story reiterating, or maybe Rapp was looking for confirmation that losing the franchise was a legitimate possibility.

So no new info but the Tweet it getting reposted and would have shown up here eventually, so I just added it here.

If you think the nfl’s state run media running this seconds after the superbowl ended in nfl.com isnt a thing, you arent paying attention. It was a shot across the bow to Ross. They’re stating they are willing to force him out so his house better be in order.

I saw another article today on NFL.com discussing how the owners could vote Ross out. I can't stress how huge that is- the NFL even broaching the topic in writing means they're not trying to protect Ross.

I agree. But then why did the NFL publish it at the end of their typical news cycle the day after the Super Bowl? It's suspicious to say the least.

Show me the hard proof besides a conversation four years ago with Flores and his personal assistant/best friend being aware of it.

    This is going nowhere.

Flores is losing credibility every day with each petty lawsuit being tacked on.

The nfl isnt a court of law. Its a club. You can get kicked out. Ross can fight it, but if the other 31 and THE SHIELD have decided hes hurting the gate? Pack your ****.
And i really really dont care what you think of flo, or what you think of me, but honestly… an I WAS JOKING DEFENSE? I cannot stress enough how incompetent and clownshoes ross comes off at every turn. Always.

    What's the proof?

"I remember him saying he wanted to pay me to lose three years ago. I told a buddy about it afterwards and forgot about it until I got fired."

Flores' own lawyers said we're supposed to believe this because Flores is an "honest man" and that the witness was in the building when it happened.

Unless he has a recording or has a written statement signed by Ross, it's going nowhere.

Also, you don't think Ross has better lawyers than Flores' buddy from high school?

Yes, the NFL owners are a club. They are going to defend Ross, sorry.

You are assuming the nfl lawyers are blindly loyal and not capable of their own risk calculation and cutting their losses. There is a time to walk away here. Like you said, its “what is the proof”. If there’s any actual correspondence electronically? Ross is cooked. You cant attempt to bribe someone and say i was joking, not when the league is a gambling goldmine.
