You are welcome Mino, the pleasure is mine, I love watching and studying this stuff. It seems that it is pretty well settled, Ike will hit Texas sometime Saturday night.. night storms are even worse. Dr. Masters has some thoughts on it; Dr Masters hurricane blog Weather Wunderground Hurricane hunters found the central pressure at 4pm to be 968mb... cat 2 pressures, even with a collapsed eyewall. That has changed since then, "the not till tommorrow" intensification has already begun sooner than expected. Here are some radar loops from La Bajada, Cuba radar Here is the 248nm Key West radar
Best of luck bro, the strorm surge looks to be the killer. Personally, I think the Houston mayor screwed the pooch and a whole bunch of folks will die becuse she waited to long to take this thing serious. Here are a couple links to some storm surge maps for Galveston Bay. Noaa surge map here is a power point that shows several diffent views, Tex, you might even find your house here.. JCS PP Houston/Galveston Bay Yall are in my prayers..
Last I heard H-town said they arent evacuating, I would have been long gone. I hope you guys that live there are safe.
HTown itself wasnt declared mandatory, but pretty much everything south and east was. Houston mayor is a dude btw, Bill White I think we will be OK, its not a low lying area and no rivers or inlets to close to it, but we are ready nonetheless
Sorry, got him confused with the Galveston mayor.. she screwed the pooch too. I will be thinking of you bro.. y'all are in my prayers. Please take care and come back to us safe and sound.
well we made it through yet another killer storm with no extreme damages..a tree fell in my yard(looks like someone trimmed hedges all over my yard and didn't clean it up) at my property in town and a tree fell on my rent house and a window broken in the living room(the tree i'm told did little to no damage on my rent house roof which i had to have replaced from rita)but i won't make it out there till tommorow. best wishes to all those that suffered extreme damages or don't know yet.
I guess now we are getting hit by the remnants of Ike. Its Fairly high winds but other then that, its been calm. The biggest concern here is flooding.
