Well said. And in my original response to 124 (whom I have respect for as a poster btw) I was surprised to hear Marino would say something that extreme. Your point about his lightening up for the flagship station is a valid one. It just seemed odd considering how indifferent Dan seemed toward Ginn during the interview. Maybe Joe will ask him about it next Monday.
Like I said early in the thread, Boomer said that's what Dan told him, I heard Boomer say it. And I really can't say I disagree.
I guess we just disagree on what is civil debate and what is trolling. 124's first thread criticizing the Dolphins was put in the receptacle, so he immediately starts another one with the same sort of nonsense, in which he dug up the issue of the first thread that was trashed. If you guys don't view that as trolling, then I don't know what is.
I saw that bro. I believed both you and 124. I wasn't questioning whether or not Boomer actually said it, but that Marino told him that. So I guess my point is either Boomer embellished or (as Muck suggested and is probably right) Dan seriously pulled back when speaking to the local Dolphins station.
It was moved because our members dragged the thread down. Staff was watching that thread closely and we tried a few times to get it back on track, but our members kept going right back to slamming a rival fan for his POV. It shouldn't be that way, but unfortunately some of our members feel that it's okay to criticize other teams and their fans or flat out celebrate Brady's injury and use names like "Billicheat" instead of Belichick, but if a rival fan shows up and refers to Pennington as "noodle arm", a nickname that Jets fans gave him years ago, then some of our members get all uptight. There can't be 2 separate sets of rules that we apply, we can't and won't treat rival fans differently than we do our own fanbase. That doesn't mean that we are going to allow someone to come in here and cause trouble, but we're not going to censor valid criticism either.
Respectfully disagree. I think it had much more to do with the insult 124 made in the last response in that thread. I won't pick it out of the trash, but it's there to see. I respect the hell out of you l2g, but you're not being very objective on this, IMO. To blame myself and others for that thread being ruined when we only reasonably requested to stop being subjected to smack talk from Jets fans is a little hard to swallow. Again, we disagree with what is smack, trolling, ect. To me it's obvious what the poster's intent is in all these threads. It's not to stimulate a civil debate, it's to get under our skin. I don't think we're going to agree on this, so I will just ignore these types of threads from now on and do my best to not dignify them with a response.
I appreciate that brother But staff made it clear that it wasn't smack and we asked a few times for the negative responses to stop and people posted them anyway, I'm not sure how I'm not being objective. Again, we treat everybody the same, if we crack down on the type of thing that 124 posted then there will be alot of unhappy Phin fans on this site when we also crack down on any criticism coming from them. Everybody is treated the same, if you raise the bar to a ridiculous height for a rival fan, then you guys have to be held to the same standard. Okay, lets get back to the topic of the thread. If anyone disagrees with the staff's decision, you are free to contact us to discuss it further.
On topic I'm posting this because it's about the topic, and not to try and start anything. This is from Mike Lombardi's column yesterday. The National Football Post | National Football Post Tavern Talk It's sad, but it appears that in Year 2, he's still not there yet. Hopefully he gets there at some point.
I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Koren Robinson but would like to see what Wilford can do before Miami goes out and signs anyone.
