I think you were too easy on the OL..they played horribly...the interior guys were more of a revolving door than a G-C-G combo...the tackles were ok...not great, just ok...Long looked like a rookie...had some moments but was basically schooled by the jests...Carey seemed to be affected by the hit he took early in the game and was...well, nondescript...

If this unit doesn't improve, the rest of the O can't either...

    Well away from here
Well I think that when you look at a unit where 3 guys weren't here and the only one who is still playing the same position is Satele you should expect some serious miscues. I said that we hadn't been tested very much in the pre season and it showed.

The hardest thing is to remember that when you see the potential of the O-line that it is just that potential. They had their moments, but they also had issues again with David Martin and Sean Ryan - both of whom were directly responsible for the pressure applied by Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas.

The Jets have agood deal of talent along their front, and if anyone thought otherwise then yesterday should have showed that the galring hole in the middle - ala Johnathon Vilma and Dwayne Robertson are long gone. The middle of the D-line is much stronger than before. And, truthfully I expected the O-line to struggle early on this year, so maybe it didn't surprise me as much as others, but hey this is what it is all about.

sorry but i'm with Larry on this one. for too long and too often do we turn into the excuse-machine with this kind of stuff. If we had sucked in the preseason with our starters, i would be with you.... but this "growth" and "potential" crap goes out the window once you actually perform at a high level (see: the starters in the preseason).

our line took a huge step back IMO, and i don't know why. (disclaimer: i realize that the starters don't play all game in the preseason, and i'm not talking about overall in the preseason... i'm talking about the starters WHEN they were in). In fact our offense didn't really seem to start clicking until the end of the game, when we all but abandoned the run and (in essence) waived the white flag on the run game.

i'm not saying the season is over and we're going to do the same as last year... but i DO feel betrayed somewhat by the performance of the team i saw Sunday versus what i had watched the last 3 games.

I thought overall your analysis was good, Con.... just getting tired of the excuse machine, that's all ;)

I understand you, but just remember that we weren't tested all that much in the preseason and with the youth and inexperience we will have ups and downs and look like we just went to hell in a hand basket sometimes. Just we did at the start of last year, it is frustrating but maybe we have seen the last of the massive rotation along our O-line.

    Finally.
