Fantastic performance on both sides of the ball. This young team is growing together week by week and the spirit and togetherness is there for all to see. Even the disruption to the OLine didn’t hurt us and the clock management in the fourth quarter - on both sides of the ball - was superb. Everyone played well, but Fitzpatrick, Breida, Gaskin, Gesicki, Williams and Baker were all outstanding.
Really enjoyed that. Thought I'd come on here to indulge in some mutual backslapping but instead I see the thread peppered with posts from the usual miserable, doom-laden Tua hating suspects, whinging and blorting that he's useless/still injured/crocked (delete where not applicable) because he wasn't wheeled out for a couple of meaningless drives at the end. What is wrong with you people? Just enjoy the win after a great all round performance and put your petty grievances away for a night. I can't imagine you'd be that bothered about seeing him if you dislike him that much, unless you were secretly hoping he'd get pummelled or chuck an interception.
You're right. Why would you want to get your "franchise" QB any real game experience? What a stupid idea that would be. He could have come in at the beginning of the 4th quarter so it wouldnt have been all that meaningless. You keep coming up with excuses as to why he isn't playing though.
You can only play what’s in front of you. It wasn’t the Dolphins' fault that so many of their players were unavailable. I haven’t forgotten Super Bowl XIX, and still hate the 49ers as a result, so this victory was very sweet.
That was really the kind of game that can get people reappraising how good this team is. I would expect significant upward movement in various power rankings this week.
Not saying that I don't love the win. Just not sure how much a beat down of these Niners means in the big scheme of things.
As someone else has already pointed out to you in another thread, the bust that is Aaron Rodgers sat for 3 years behind Brett Favre. I've heard he's not been too bad after picking the splinters out of his backside. But hey, you're right though. It would have been good to have been able to evaluate how Tua hands the ball off and to also get a feel of how he takes a knee. If he doesn't glide down gracefully onto one knee and plops down like a sack of potatoes instead, it will definitely have been a wasted pick.
So sitting behind a hall of fame QB and sitting behind fitz is the same thing. Gotcha. And who's to say all tua would have to do would be hand off? Flores should have put him in and had him run the offense for a few series. He's not playing for a reason.
Haven’t looked at any of the posts except those here on the last page so I repeat, apologies in advance. First off, what a great win for the Dolphins. I can’t even remember the last time the Dolphins put up 43 points. Fitzpatrick was on fire. When I got the game spun up online and saw we were already up 14-0 midway through the first I was ecstatic! I don’t care if the 49ers has missing defensive players. For Miami’s offensive to put up 43 points is a fantastic confidence booster for the youngest team in the NFL. Defensively, I’m still concerned about our run defense. It just seems to me the defense is over pursuing sideline to sideline and allow runners to be able to break up the middle. They have got to settle down and get disciplined in their pursuits. I can’t stand the bend but don’t break philosophy. In the 2nd half, it did seem the defense was more disciplined and reeked just as much havoc on Beathard as they did Garappollo. As to all of you beating the Tua drum, will you all settle down for Christ sake? The Fins are 2-3 and just won a great victory. Tagovailoa is going to get his shot and better for him to come under center with an offense confident in its abilities than an offense that’s sucking a$$. If that means Tua doesn’t get his shot until week 10, so be it. If that means Tua has to do his impression of Aaron Rodgers and wait a year or 2, who cares as long as the DOLPHINS are winning? I mean think about it, what if the Dolphins were to finish 9-7 or 10-6 with Fitz and we get into the playoffs, are you still going to b1tch that Tua wasn’t playing or are you going to be happy the Dolphins had a successful season? If the score today would have been reversed, that we lost 43-17 I could understand the call to get Tagovailoa in the game but as we used to say in the army, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
So is it your position that Tua has nothing to learn from Fitz? If that’s your point, it’s a rather silly one. The GREATEST coach in NFL history was a mediocre Cleveland Browns defensive back named Don Shula. I guess because Shula was average at best as a player he should have never been a coach.
Oh I never said they were. I merely said “what if”. My posts historically this season have stated Tagovailoa is going to get the start after we’ve been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, around week 10
Wow pleasant surprise. Win on the west coast away from home congratulations. Didn't expect that score.
What is not playing teaching him? Whatever he's learning is in practice. Real game experience is invaluable. Today was the perfect scenario for him to get some reps. He could have dealt with real game situations and gotten a feel for the speed of the game. Are you going to tell me that wouldn't be beneficial to him? Can you think of any legitimate reason as to why he didn't play today? Don't say his hip, because he has been medically cleared to play.
You're not listening at all...which is your choice. Fair enough. To answer you, though, there have been plenty of posts and article outside the forum talking about what Tua can learn by time on the bench. Look them up. But plenty of ex-players and others have confirmed that there's a lot he can learn. Then, as concerns today, you said he could deal with real game situations - but the only situations he could have seen were run plays.
They wouldnt have to be run plays, they could have been whatever Flores wanted them to be. Today was the perfect time to put him in but hey, let's wait till next year, unless fitz plays well next year then maybe we'll see tua the year after that.
You're saying Flores should have called sub-optimal plays just for the sake of getting Tua on the field. No coach worth his salt is going to do that.
At some point, sure, but everyone has to start eventually, with or without getting their feet wet. I want Flores to be able to follow whatever plan he has in mind. For example, he's building an entire team. The presence of a veteran QB running an offense he knows well may give Flores stability at that position to allow him to develop and analyse the other players and positions. He may want to get as much of that done as possible more than he feels the need to give his rookie some garbage time minutes.
I didnt realize it's a rule in the NFL that you're only allowed to hand off when you're winning in the 4th quarter. Flores could have put him in and called all pass plays if he wanted to. Thats a lame excuse.
No, its lame to throw passes when all you need to do is run clock. It's how you get WRs hurt when they are just getting healthy. It's lame to push a BS conspiracy theory that Tua not being put in to hand balls off means anything about how Flores thinks about his future. Give Fitzpatrick all the snaps he wants when he is playing like that. This is his chance to make a case for starting somewhere next year. He earned those victory knee snaps. Anyone think he didn't want to be out there? Edit=fixed punctuation
Enough with the Tua talk, it's ridiculous. There are still plenty of games left in the season, we should wait until the second half of the season to play Tua and see what he can do. There is no real reason to rush him back from injury now when Fitzpatrick is playing plenty well. Our passing game has been clicking all season even when we lose. Putting Tua in is not going to help our running game or defense which are the real problems we have right now.
I agree with every word. Additionally, is better for the OLine to become better acquainted with each other in real game situations, and with Tua in practice than to throw our new franchise quarterback in at the deep end. They might be big guys, but they’re still young, including two rookie starters. And while we all agree that Fitz, without wishing to denigrate him, is a journeyman QB, he isn’t exactly doing a bad job, as proven by his fantastic display yesterday. A man of his experience can pass so much on to all his teammates and Tagovailoa in particular. We all know of Tua's potential. It’s better to let him grow into the team than to shatter his confidence by throwing him in too soon.
