I really loved Lo Booker today. Great speed, nice moves....he hits the hole faster than Ronnie Brown and without all the side to side motion...he also looks good catching the ball on screens....why didn't Cam use him more this year???
he does hit the hole faster thats because he is faster and there is no question that Browns is the much better back Booker knows that Brown knows that and ever one on the team knows that
All i heard was he had problems pass blocking. Whether that was psysical or mental i dont know. Seems a bit lame though knowing what most of the squad was saying about him in Pre-season.
To be honest, I think because LBook did something to tee Cam Cameron off, this whole episode simply smacks of something personal between Cam and LBook. When Crowder is complimenting Booker for breaking ankles months ago, and we only see him play the last 5 games or so, someone, somewhere, was not a LBook fan...
you got that right. I guess that made more ppl think what was going on. Oh well at least it makes you think with Satele, Beck, Ginn and now Booker it wasnt such a bad draft after all.
I agree with you-there must have been something behind the scenes that we don't no about. I dont give a rats *** if he can't block. You don't need him too if you can gameplan for him. This guy has fantastic skills, great vision, moves, hands etc.. and you cant find a package for him after a full camp, preseason and 10 or 11 games. Cameron is a ****ing idiot and needs to go. I am sorry.
Second post into this thread and a deduction of the failure of the HC... Do you have training and practice footage to support that statement?
This guy is probably an 80+ catch RB if he plays from week 1, lol. Even though most of those are check downs where I'd prefer to get something working down field, I am very impressed with Lorenzo Booker. He looks like the fastest guy on the field even though he really isn't. I mean, he's fast as hell, but it's the confidence that he has in his speed. That may sound stupid, but he seems like one of those guys who plays with fire and doesn't hesitate to get his feet moving. I love the kid. He's going to be special. Poor man's Reggie Bush? You bet.
I didn't watch the game from today yet but I think we fans might be weary of anointing anyone anything who is on this 1-15 team. I guess to be rather course about it BUT if you have a big old pile of turds and look at them long enough one is going to catch your eye more than the others. That doesn't mean that turd would be the first thing you pick up if it were in a pile of diamonds though.
He's hardly an every down back is he, I mean come on. There is a reason switching him to wide receiver was discussed. We cant just blame Cameron for everything.
And even though CAM and Randy drafted this guy, CAM held him on the bench... This is what you are asking correct? Well let's see... Ronnie was pounding for mega yards in both rushing and receiving. He lead the league in total yardage before he went down... Chatman then came in and was showing signs of another RB that could pound the ball and was quite efficient in his attack as well. Once Chatman goes down, we have GADO and L. Booker. Now we are questioning why L. Booker wasn't more involved because he has stepped up now that he had a chance... With the talent infront of him, who could have known? Now that he has shown what he can do, it is only a major plus to the team!!!
Still using the excuse of he can't pass block as an excuse to keep him out is just plain dumb so i doubt that can be it. He doesn't need to pass block because he's too small and should only be used on running plays or definate screens or at wide receiver, where he doesn't need to worry about pass blocking as long as he's on the field, he's a playmaker.
And how do you know that those skills and talent wasn't a result of holding him back and mentoring him?
So Cam the offensive guru somehow cannot find a spot to use Lorenzo Booker in until the entirety of the Rb corps is decimated due to injuires? Somehow the Rb who can "get open in a phone booth" is not worthy of carving a niche's roll for on a 0-11 team? No slot wr duty, no spot duty in the backfield, better to keep him inactive and not find a way to put a very talented football player out on the field? Either Cam had a personal beef with LBook, or Cam doesn't know how to use talent to try and save his tenure in Miami, either way, Cam won't have to worry about handling that good dilemna anymore.
One of the great mysteries of all-time Dolphins lore. Cam really looks like a moron on this one. All Parcells needs to do is point to that alone, for a reason to say Cam doesn't have brains enough to coach the team. Cam sabatoged himself with this decision, to wait til week 11 to put him in. Just screwy.
They didn't exactly set anyone else in the NFL on fire. Just because we played a lot of guys from this last draft means diddly-squat. Cam & Mueller played their guys (well most of them) because they wanted to put their stamp on the team. It didn't exactly work out, because they took a 6-10 team and actually made it worse.
He missed most of preseason due to family issues... A player doesn't deserve to play from the start when he misses, I believe all, of preseason. I don't know how much he missed for sure, but he did miss most of it. But of course, just because Booker played this well after he got to know system well, means he'll excell very early in the season too because you know... these arm chair coaches are always right...
They took a 6-10 team into rebuilding mode isntead of trying to patchwork it like every other team. Bring up "Trent Green" and "Joey Porter" arguments... but Green was brought here because he knew the system and so Beck wouldn't have to be rushed onto the field. Porter was brought in to offset the loss of Carter/Bowens....
I think the Rookies from the draft were the least of our problems. Lack of depth and lack of talent at other positions and i wont start with injuries havnt helped.
lack of depth really hurt us bad this year with all the injuries. thats what separates good team from bad ones, esp when key players get injured and have ppl step up to fill in.
Exactly...when you have Courtney Bryan covering Ocho Cinco you have got major problems. LOL. Also, Michael Lehan is a backup not a starter and Will Allen is a #2. We need corners more than anything.
You hit the nail on the head. Too many 2nd and 3rd stringers starting is what killed us down the stretch. When those injuries bit in as well the writing was on the wall.
I joked earlier in the game thread that Book was held back as part of Cam's strategy for a late playoff run and he didn't want Lorenzo hitting the proverbial rookie wall too soon. I hope I'm done with making up whacked out reasoning to explain the logic of coach cam. Let the rebuilding begin.
We'll see. I haven't heard of anyone talking about the Dolphins rookies as "ones to watch", so just because they played doesn't mean anything. All it means was that Cam played the best player (possibly) on this team, but doesn't mean they are even average NFL players. In two more years we'll see if they are still on the team. I can't tell you for sure, and neither can anyone else at this point. But what I do know is no one league wide has had universal praise for any of the Dolphins rookie players.
Oh I think we'll be hearing from him soon enough. Things will get very fishy around Davie real soon. Maybe even this week.
Not playing Book is another reason why scam cameron should be fired, the kid is awesome and a playmaker
...Wow. Booker didn't play in the preseason due to family issues, he didn't deserve to play the season early on because he didn't know the playbook... Besides, just because Booker played this well late on, doesn't mean the same success would happen early in the season!
I just think weve got ourselves into a "Lions, 49ers and Browns" scenario. They have decent players and alot of them Rookies but often they get overlooked because of the record of the team. I know the US mentality is all about winning so why would anyone want to know about players playing for a 1-15 team? No media coverage and no love will often see to that. You may be right about our rookies but who knows cos we may have a few rookies who will go on and perform at highest level for yrs to come.
He has looked good. He's real quick, but I get the feeling if he gets one good hit put on him he will be out for while. He looks pretty vulnerable when he does those wild moves.
