"Jamal Adams is requesting a trade out of New York and the Miami Dolphins should call. The likelihood of Jamal Adams staying in the AFC East is slim but with Adam Gase still the coach of the Jets, well, anything is really possible and the Miami Dolphins should make a call. Word in NFL media circles is that standout safety Jamal Adams is done with the Jets and now wants to be traded. The Miami Dolphins could use a safety who plays with a physicality that Brian Flores loves. Of course, Miami is in the AFC East and the Jets and Dolphins do not have a great trade history. Adams would make the Dolphins defense not only better but would also make it the most expensive defensive secondary in the NFL as Adams would want a new deal either this year or next. Miami has a lot already invested in Byron Jones and Xavien Howard." https://phinphanatic.com/2020/06/18/jamal-adams-miami-dolphins-adam-gase-might-dumb-enough/ I'd love to add Adams. I think he's one of the best players in the NFL, and you can't have enough DB's...
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Adams would welcome a trade to one of seven teams: the Baltimore Ravens, the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Texans, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
That article is pretty bad. Just pure nonsense. There is a zero percent chance Adams is traded to the Dolphins.
The Cowboys reportedly made an offer last year at the trade deadline but the Jests said no. We would have to blow anything anyone offered out of the park to get him, and that's just likely not going to happen. Ill be happy to see him leave the division though.
I remember when the Jets were in cap hell years back under Rex.. and i see some of those contracts they have now.. theyre heading backwards if they cant afford adams but can pay Mosley who hasnt done anything
Whether or not we as fans want him or feel he would be perfect in Miami is irrelevant. The question is whether or not he’s a player in the mold of Brian Flores. It seems to me that character counts quite a bit in the Flores dossier and if you have a player that’s creating discontent with his current team, he’s probably not going to be a player Flores is going to want on the team.
That's not necessarily true- Minkah was clearly a Flores-type player and they wanted to keep him. It didn't work out and Miami took the higher road to let him leave, but I don't think that means other players not happy in certain organizations would automatically be the same story. For instance, we've moved some running backs like Damien Williams that were getting limited chances in Miami- Gase loved him though and had nothing but positive to say about him. And now he's shining in KC as a feature back, just because of different philosophies and schemes. So there's a lot of reasons a player would rather be elsewhere.
Minkah was complaining about being used in multiple roles, even though that's what he was drafted to do. Doesn't seem to be a Flores type player.
His complaint and seeing seeds of discontent were what made him expendable in Flores’ scheme. If you can’t do what the head coach wants you to do without complaining, then you are no longer trustworthy. As incredible as Fitzpatrick was, he had to go. Can’t have a cancer festering in your locker room.
Minkah was complaining about not being given time to prepare properly and not being given clear indications of what his role would be in the game plan until Thursday. He asked to be held at one position so he could prepare properly and play at the level he wanted to.
And now he's complaining that by being only used in the one position that he campaigned to play, he isn't effective because teams can scheme away from him, which is why Flores wanted to move him about
He's a complainer. Loved the guy but we had to move on. Flores is trying to change the culture to what the team wants not what the players want. That's why people have been shipped out. If your focus is more on stuff outside the team concept, you get shipped out. We've had a crap culture for so long with ME ME ME players, what I want to do, what I want to say. If you want to change the culture you have to get rid of ME ME ME players.
I’d love to have the problem of having the first team All-pro safety that other teams actively scheme to avoid. It’s a pity we haven’t drafted anyone who could be that player for us. Oh no, we did have that player and we jerked him around so much he wanted out because he was JAG in Miami. Minkah has never complained about what his personal role is. His complaints have been about how the coaches can use his skills to help the team more.
Minka complained about how he was used under Gase and under Flores. Then he complained in Pitt. He is definitely a complainer.
Exactly. He’s smarter than the coaches. Organized team sports don’t succeed if you don’t listen to the coach. At every level. The minute you second guess the coach, In public it’s down hill. I haven’t coached at that level but it seems pretty obvious.
Yeah, being from the area, I've been hearing the complaints since he first went to the Jets. It's funny because I have been hearing the same exact complaints that us Phin fans had about him. I posted this awhile back after we beat them. It's hilarious.
He's just a horrible leader with no accountability. It's always somebody else's fault and he gets rid of anybody who questions him. Basically, he's insecure and yet has an over-inflated opinion of his own abilities. He checks off the boxes for the worst traits of any leader. I hope he's the Jets' coach for a long, long time.
