You had to copy-paste the dude's name? Come on now.

    Interesting answer here:

I think this means changes to the plot direction, probably by the incorporation of Crisis Core references and areas, while keeping the high points of the plot unchanged. It probably also means using the Crisis Core version of older events like the Nibelheim incident.

lol, I figured you guys would notice that. As Japanese names go, its not an especially hard one, but still...yeah

I liked the fact that he laid it out that he and the other guys basically own it, and they can do what they feel is best. Leave it or change it. You would know better than me as far as which details are likely to chance, since I haven't played any variety of the game in almost 20 years, but I think its a good thing.

They said at the outset that they're going to unify the different versions of events into one canon. Many of the changes are probably going to be "OK, how can we fit a Crisis Core reference here? Can we fit a Before Crisis reference here? Does this location make sense to include in FF7R?"

Maybe if this succeeds, they'll finally do a sequel that takes place after Dirge of Cerberus and resolves that particular hanging plot thread.

I had long planned on getting a physical copy, but between the inability to buy it online and not being able to go to the store to get it there, I'm going to end up downloading it.

Its of course a full priced game, but time will tell how much of a full-scale game it truly is. Reports are that its good for between 30-50 hours of gameplay, and that there is a hard cap of level 50 for the characters.

I still need to beat Spider-Man, but I might buy this for nostalgia purposes. Plus the demo made the game look super interesting.

I'd expected originally to have at least two other games to play and get through before I'd get to the FF7 remake, but those got delayed, so I'm going to just go for it.

Won't expound too much (at all), but I'd give this an 8/10. I finished the first normal run through in about 55 hours, finishing around level 43. I'm switching off and then I'm going to see if I feel like playing hard mode.

I decided to take a break for a few days after I got to a part of the game where it seemed clear I was in a "no going back" situation. My characters are around level 40 now. I'll probably jump back in tonight or tomorrow.

You can go back after you beat the game and do any side quests or anything else that was missed.

I almost certainly will not be doing hard mode.

In a Japanese interview, the game's producer seems to confirm that it will be split into at least three parts, and perhaps more. An official announcement will be coming soon.

    https://gamingbolt.com/square-enix-...ill-for-development-impact-will-still-be-felt

Square says that Covid has "made time stand still" for development, and that the effect will likely be felt for years on their titles. So....yikes. For reasons I don't fully understand, work in Japan is apparently much harder to do remotely than in other parts of the world. My gut instinct would have been the opposite, so it seems weird, but that's where we are.

Its certainly possible. But given the extreme development periods that went into 13, and 15, and the rumors of how long they might draw out the remake for 7, I expected the same for the next one as well.

They were going through a big time identity crisis then, IIRC. Now they have a graphics engine and a hybrid real-time battle system that they're comfortable with. You see iterations of that battle system in Kingdom Hearts, 15, Remake, and I'd expect 16.

The turn-based system had officially overstayed it's welcome by the time 13 came out, and they also had to totally reboot 14. I enjoy traditional turn-based JRPGs (like Bravely Default) but I could see how Square wanted to get out of their comfort zone with their flagship series.

Kind of how I see it anyways. I think they've tightened up a lot since then, missteps in the new Avengers game not withstanding.

Im pretty anxious about what we've seen from 16 too. It looks like it might not even be a party based game at all, and if it is, its at most three characters, and two of them are children. There are so many single character games around. I want something where I can go around and recruit and build a big team, then choose which four are in my party as I go and level them all up. But that's clearly not what we're getting from them anymore.

I would be very opposed to a single-character/protagonist FF game but I guess we'll wait and see.

New episode announced called FF7 Remake Intergrade. I can't tell if its a sequel or just an expansion on the first episode, but looks like the latter. Focuses on Yuffie in Midgar.

There's been a ton of debate as to what will happen with the series from this point. Going for Yuffie next would make a lot of sense.

Looks like it's just some bonus content to go along with the PS5 update.

    https://gamingbolt.com/final-fantas...ward-has-somewhat-different-atmosphere-nomura

To the surprise of....probably no one, it sounds like Development on the next chapter of the FF7 remake is very early on in development. The series is almost my very first video game love, but this is just so ridiculous at this point. They're going to end up releasing different sections of the same freaking game at least three years apart. For a major studio, they just work like they're stuck in molasses most of the time. But that's nothing new. Its been their story for the past 15 years.

They also said that you absolutely need to play Integrade before getting into the second part, so everyone who wants to better find a PS5 before that point.

I believe Intergrade will release on PS4 just not immediately.
