He wasn’t used much last season was he? Which means he should have fresh legs.

Very nice. I'd probably pair him with Taylor out of Wisconsin. We need a speed back.

I've been all in on Taylor going back to last year. Never realized he was that fast prior to the combine.

It's a full on Man Crush now.

Yeah, count me in. I want a speed back. Howard is more of a power back. I want both.

Solid short yardage back signing. A good backup to a rookie RB, and we should have at least the threat of a run game in 2020.

Yeah, I'd want us to draft Taylor above all the other backs in the draft. In fact, I'd probably do a little sex wee if we managed to snag him at 26.

Taylor fumbles like once every 56 touches. Clyde E-H fumbles like once every 250 touches. RBs who cannot hang on to the football are as valuable as Sammie Smith. Taylor cost the Badgers the Rose Bowl vs Oregon with a late fumble in crunch time. Taylor also dropped 8 of 50 catchable passes in his career. Also far too high.

You guys...ball security is paramount. Among the top backs in this draft, that means Clyde, and Dobbins.
Taylor and Akers are fumble machines. Moss and Swift are mediocre in this regard. Later backs who can hang on to the ball include Lamical Perine, AJ Dillon, and Joshua Kelley.

IMO Taylor is phenomenal as a runner, but I worry about his pass blocking.

I was gonna argue with you about Akers vs. Clyde E-H but then I went and checked their stats instead going off of memory.
Akers had 10 fumbles in 573 rushes: 1 per 57 carries. I really thought his numbers were better.
Clyde E-H had 2 fumbles in 360 rushes: 1 per 180 carries. I didn't think his numbers were that good.

    I'm glad I checked. I would've looked like a buffoon. Instead, I now like Clyde E-H a lot more.

Not a good deal imo. Howard is middling. Why are we paying RB's 10 mil? To me, this indicates Grier very much wants a specific back(s) in the draft. He doesn't really feel like testing the waters of lower round guys trying to unearth a decent performer. He overpays to sign Howard and will draft his guy. Dobbins seems to have gotten the most attention at this point.

It is 5 million a year...

For a guy who posted numbers three consecutive years that compared to Ezekiel Elliot in terms of total yards before last season... I think we got a bargain. The kid is 25 and was not used heavy last year so his legs are fresh

He's gone downhill 4 straight years and is a very limited player. Ultimately, it's such a short deal that it doesn't have a ton of meaning, but as Barnwell points out on ESPN, it's an overpay for a fungible position that blocks you from discovering someone with much higher upside. RB is a spot where you can land some good talent on the cheap in mid and late rounds. This just seems unnecessary, especially at that price point.

    Downhill?

I mean he was averaging what 4.4 yards per carry last season when he injured his shoulder... Was on pace for more than 1000 yards rushing and what 10+ touchdowns.

I mean if that is all we get from him this year in Miami.... Yeah for 5 million that is awful.

    Again what is he 25?

Etienne is also someone that gains 8 yards per carry ( Which is insane ) He just keeps getting better and better. I was really bummed he did not enter the draft this year... I liked him so much I was okay with the Dolphins taking him 26th overall.

Can't go into the season with 4 backs with no more than 1 years experience - Howard is productive & good value. Need a vet in the room

Fumbles are a concern but highly coachable if it's due to letting the ball outside your body. It's just not stressed enough by most college coaches if a guy is putting up big #s

Ricky Williams was a fumble machine too.

I would be cool with Clyde E-H, Dobbins, or A.J. Dillon ( who I hope will slim down if we draft him and add some quickness).

    Love Dillon...

If we get him in the late third or 4th I will be very happy. Obviously we need to keep working on the line. I truly hope they bring in a center and a tackle... Biadasz or Cushenberry at Center and Prince Wanogho at Tackle... Howard is a dependable workhorse back who runs hard... Dillon is another guy with surprising speed... a nice one cut guy with burst... But he can wear out a defense like the Bus used to... I like to think he is the Bus with a little more wiggle... Athletically no running back that is 250 pounds should be running a 4.5 flat at the combine... Dillon is very talented.... His first three steps of acceleration is where he shines so in the trenches he plays faster than running at the combine in a straight line.

I like Dillon too, and think he is all muscle so not sure why he needs to slim down. He ran in the low 4.5s, and had a 41" vertical at 250 or so lbs.

    JORDAN HOWARDRB, MIAMI DOLPHINS
    [IMG]
Jordan Howard (shoulder) confirmed he's 100 percent healthy.
Howard missed six of the final seven games and didn't play in the Wild Card round after a mid-season shoulder injury. The Dolphins weren't scared off by his 2019, giving him a two-year deal worth over $10 million. Howard enters the offseason as the favorite to lead Miami's backfield in touches, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Dolphins add competition through the draft.

I'm a big Jordan Howard fan, and while I know he's never been heavily involved in the receiving game, he can catch a football. I'll be very interested to see how he used by this coaching staff.

I believe he will have to be leaned on to help establish a run game (for the passing game to excel). Tough match-up this weekend (or perhaps not quite as tough given the defensive defections by the Patsies?).

Anyone heard anything out of TC how involved he might be?
