I'll set the over/under on 3 interceptions on Sunday.

So they're admitting they wasted a second round pick. It's going to be 65 and sunny in Buffalo on Sunday it has nothing to do with the elements.

This is just sad. Nobody knows what they're doing.

Gimme a break man. We took a flyer on him. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Doesn't mean it was the wrong decision. I thought it was a good chance to take then, and I still think it was a good chance to take today, even though it seems it's not gonna pan out. You only hit on those guys if you take chances on them...and guess what, most of those chances aren't gonna pan out.

Then they shouldn't have been swindled to give up a high second.

    You take chances later on.

I don't think they were swindled. I think it was absolutely fair to believe that much of Rosen's issues were a result of a bad yeah around him. A second for last year's #1 pick? I see nothing wrong with that. ESPECIALLY when you're going in to this season knowing you're completely rebuilding. Absolutely was the right thing to do.

Yeah I agree. Nothing wrong with trying to get that franchise QB even if it costs you a 2nd rounder. Can’t succeed unless you try.

However.. the speed with which it became clear that Rosen is a bust (top 10 among QB’s picked top 10 in the draft last 30 years IMO) does tell us we have bad talent evaluation and/or a bad coach.

So I won’t criticize the trade, but this is not a good sign for Grier/Flores being the right guys to build a championship team. And the only position(s) more important than the QB is the GM/HC.

Rosen is young, he still has plenty of NFL career left to be a serviceable starter.

It just won't be for us.

They knew Rosen wasn’t the guy before the season started, hence Fitzpatrick’s starting initially and the trade of Tunsil. So they threw him out there when there was nothing to lose, and confirmed what they already knew.

The 62nd overall pick is not a high second. It's the third lowest in the 2nd round.

I doubt that. I don’t think any coaching staff is naive enough to think they can fully evaluate a QB in preseason. I think they started Fitz to give Rosen more time to acclimate but had the intention of seeing what he was really made of by playing him in actual games. Only then did they see he was a bust.

I agree.. but what I’ve seen is enough to convince me to 99% certainty he’s a bust. His decision making hasn’t improved, and not even once showing average performance statistically over essentially a full season of games is unbelievably unlikely even for a backup QB. Those are red flags.

Yeah we all knew at the time of the Rosen trade that this was a low probability of success move and that our future franchise QB was going to come from the 2020 draft. But to truly see what Rosen was made of I think would only come through playing him in regular season games. That is.. I doubt they made up their minds before playing him in the regular season.

The second-round pick isn’t likely to become even a long-term starter, so no, they weren’t swindled in terms of the trade compensation, but when a team is ready to trade a quarterback who was picked in the top 10 overall after only 13 starts, you might want to stay away.

Yo guys you realize how stupid Brian Flores looks and sound? Fitz is the starter no Rosen is the starter rest of the year only to switch back to Fitz less than a week later. This is the marking of a head coach who has no idea what the heck he is doing, usually coaches who are this unstable in their decision making end up getting fired.

So are we tanking or not?

Fitz has a real chance to mess this up and win us a game. With the Redskins playing as badly as they are, there's a good chance they end 1-15, so winning a game or two could be a real problem.

Though I will say I'd rather just roll with Rosen and see what happens than go to Fitz.

Let's be clear about the what Miami gave up to get Rosen because it wasn't as simple as using a 2nd round pick on him.

It was essentially a 3 team trade.

    2019-------------------------------------2020

    OUT #48 to Saints (2nd)
    OUT #62 to Cardinals (2nd)
    OUT #116 to Saints (4th)
OUT ----------------------------5th Rd. pick to Cardinals

    IN #62 from Saints (2nd)
IN -------------------------------2nd Rd. pick from Saints
    IN Josh Rosen

Putting it another way, they traded their second round pick for next year's 2nd round pick.
And then traded a 4th and next year's 5th for Josh Rosen.

Amen! What’s the hit rate on QB’s drafted in the 2nd round? Answer: Extremely low.

The way I look at this is Rosen is a guy in a long string of guys who didn’t pan out with a 2nd round pick including: Beck, Henne, White and Culpepper.

Unfortunately this is the move that screams of a dysfunctional management team that I have been dreading.
I wonder if the commissioner's office had something to say after that, alleged, going for the win but no chance of pulling it off two point play last week influenced the decision.
You traded for Rosen, and the starter not starter musical chairs game does him, nor the franchise any favors.

IMO dysfunctional management is sticking with Rosen even when he has such a terrible game and Fitzpatrick goes the hot hand.

The front office set us up to tank by putting together this putrid roster, the coaches and the players are trying to win games.

exactly. Another example of why the franchise is a laughing stock. I have no confidence in Flores being able to guide this team to any semblance of success

The way I look at it is they rolled the dice and looks like they lost. With hindsight, yes, would definitely have used that pick elsewhere. I can’t blame them for the making that decision at the time.

With this logic, benching the QB every other quarter would be acceptable.

The fact is they made a very public decision to go with Rosen. He was the guy now. And a few quarters later...he isn't. How anyone can argue that as other than dysfunctional I have no idea.

If in management's estimation Rosen needed to continue to improve then he should never have been named the starter. By switching again it brings the question of do they even know what they are doing?

Finish again with, the two point play was called to reduce the chances of winning. Even if it was a brilliant call, the execution of it by the hot hand QB was horrible. Neither is good. Poor preparation (QB flip flops cause that) or intentionally reducing the chances of winning (designed gameplan). Could be one or both...
