LMAO, I thought you were kidding- Bran and Sansa are the favorites? No freaking way! Then I Googled it-

ODDS TO BE RULING WESTEROS AT THE END OF GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8
    Character Odds
    Bran Stark +150
    Sansa Stark +250
    Jon Snow +400
    Gendry +600
    Daenerys Targaryen +900
    Tyrion Lannister +900
    Jon and Daenerys’ Child +1500
    Arya Stark +2000
    Petyr Baelish +2200
    Samwell Tarly +2500
    Cersei Lannister +3000
    Jaime Lannister +5000
    Bronn +5000
    Varys +6600
    Davos +10000
    Euron Greyjoy +10000
    Brienne of Tarth +10000
    Jaqun H’ghar +10000
    Daario Naharis +12500
    The Hound +12500
    Yara Greyjoy +15000
    Tormund Giantsbane +20000
    Gilly +50000
    The Mountain +50000

Can you believe Littlefinger is still in the betting lines? LMAO! They better not doing something that outrageous....I'd hate the series forever if Jon and Khalisi die next episode. People are dumb though- how could Samwell be more likely than Jaime or Cersei? LOL, and Gilly at +50k (the same as the Mountain)? I'd bet $10 on the Mountain with those odds...who the heck is going to kill him? He's already dead!

Looking at that list, the only one who truly deserves the throne is Brienne. The rest are tarnished one way or the other.

One last thing- Bran dropped to 12/1 earlier this week....then jumped to 1/1 after massive bets flooded in. Maybe leaks from Hollywood?

Did I miss something with regards to Bran? He’s the 3-Eyed Raven. Isn’t that a bit of a conflict of interest? He can’t be both, and I can’t envision the 3-Eyed Raven just vanishing forever, seeing as Bran doesn’t appear to have an heir to his magical position.

LOL at the hypothetical love child being +1500.
    • Jon Snow doesn’t want to sit on the Iron Throne, and there won’t be a need for him to serve as such during a time of peace.
    • Sansa will be alive, has proven to be queen material, and is already known by the people of King’s Landing. Her time spent in the capital could’ve been set up to facilitate her return there. But Winterfell is her home and someone will need to lead House Stark, of which Sansa makes the most sense. Her time during John’s absense foreshadows it.
    • Arya has proven to be a warrior, not a leader. Does she return to Jaqen?
    • The dragon(s) need one last moment. Will we have 3 babies, as the opening credits to Episode 4 may have suggested?
    • Daenerys has become too unstable. The beheading of Missandei was done to push her over the top, and perhaps a death of Drogon will turn her into The Mad Queen and thus help the audience separate their feelings from her. Would be apropos for her to perish atop her dragon.
    • The Hound fittingly kills The Mountain, opening the door for his lil buddy Arya to slay Cersei, the immovable #1 name on her list.
    • Lady Brienne kills Jamie in one of the ending’s emotional bittersweet moments. The final episodes have to have at least one of these moments, and I can’t think of a better one, not unless Jon is forced to take Dany out.
    • In a time of piece [presumably], everyone will return to their proper homelands.
      • Tyrion gets Casterly Rock. Too much foreshadowing for it not to happen. It’s what he wants, and he’s earned it.
      • Sansa takes over Winterfell.
      • Samwell Tarly becomes Lord of The Reach. Someone has to run the 2nd largest kingdom, and he’s now first in line.
      • Yara Greyjoy returns to run the Iron Islands.
      • John Snow either dies [with the Lord of Light having no more use for him] or returns to the Free Folk whom he feels most comfortable with.... rejoining his best friend, his wolf, and the people who produced his one true love. There’s already tension forming between he and Dany, so there’ll likely be no valid reason for him to join or lead House Targeryen.
      • That leaves Gendry Baratheon, the last living heir of King Robert Baratheon, as the truest heir to the throne. What’s the point of his character and his entire backstory if he’s not meant to end up as king, seeing as he hasn’t really served any other purpose yet commensurate with the amount of time invested in him? What’s the purpose of noting his true identity? At one point the red priestess wants to sacrifice Gendry, claiming there’s power in a king’s blood. Recently, Tyrion responded to Varys that the king should be someone who “doesn’t want to rule”... and earlier proclaimed that the king should have “the right family name”, both of which traits Gendry satisfies. He also fits Tolkien’s motto that even the most unlikely and ordinary of people can become a hero. Who else has been more ordinary than the bastard son who grew up in the slums of Flea Bottom and lived as a blacksmith? Certainly not Bran who’s been nothing like ordinary. He’s been quite extraordinary actually, surviving as a cripple behind the wall and then becoming the 3-Eyed Raven.

I don't want to theorize too much and I don't think Bran is the proper fit either- he doesn't have the blood line or the ability to rule. I could see it, but I just don't think they're going there.

Sadly, I see things playing out differently from your theory. I think Dany burns Kings Landing to the ground and Jon ends up killing her. I'd bet her and her dragon rack up most of the kills though (including the Iron Fleet, Jamie and Cersei...maybe even Sansa or Arya?). Something's going to happen to sever the connection between Dany and Jon forever, then all hell's going to break loose.

Getting back to Bran, the only way I see him on the throne is if virtually everyone else dies. And hey, maybe it's coming to that. I think Jon survives and walks away....maybe reclaiming the wall or heading even further north like you said. I have a feeling that almost everyone else is about to be dragon toast...even though that's not how I'd end the series at all. I'm sill rooting for the marriage of Jon/Dany and the happy ending; it just doesn't feel like GOT style though.

So who's the king? I think whoever's left standing. My guess would be Tyrion...it won't be who we expect.

Obviously Bran doesn’t need to be the King in order for the 3-Eyed Raven to convey his visions to the King. He can just, you know- f***in tell him. Nobody stole his ability to communicate.

I was thinking the dragon(s) would be killed and returned to pre-Dany status [especially if there’s no Dany to care for them], but I guess Jon could take over that role seeing as he’s earned Drogon’s trust.... but then again they don’t like the cold, and I can’t see Jon not going north of the wall to join the Free Folk.

I still think the king is Gendry. What’s the point of his existence otherwise? Heck, even Missandei, who has virtually no televised backstory whatsoever, arose from nothing to Queen’s Advisor. Gendry’s backstory has gradually been building since season 1 and he’s the truest rightful air to the throne, yet where’s his prominent moment? His is still coming. The creators have prolonged his respective ascension longer than anyone else’s on the show.

There are so many references and foreshadowings of Tyrion becoming Lord of Casterly Rock that I can’t imagine it not happening. Then again, George R.R Marin loves J.R.R Tolkien, so maybe, just maybe, the dwarf becomes king as an homage to The Hobbit homage.

I'm just thinking that they want to keep fans guessing. They actually recorded death scenes for almost every character this season- plus multiple paths/endings for the last two episodes. In other words, there's a version where Jon dies and it's ready to go on film....then there's another one with him doing something completely different. So the actors don't even know how it will turn out. They did this to keep everyone guessing and to make leaks almost impossible...there's supposed to be less than a dozen total people who has seen tomorrow's episode, and the few that have said they're not sure if it was the final cut or not.

One alleged "leak" theory I did like though was that Bran becomes the night king and rules the Iron Throne that way. That would be a super cool ending but we'd all be mad as well...so I don't think they'll go that way. It would basically be cheating and that's no way to end an 8-year series. You could be completely right on Gendry...most wouldn't see it coming....but I feel like it will be a more central character to everything. Tyrion has been thru hell and back to stand where he does now, so I'd like to see him.

Oh, one of the other spoilers I read says Dani kills Tyrion this coming episode for treason...LOL! So I may be 100% wrong. I'm only sharing that because I think all the spoilers are BS anyway and GOT is playing their staff/friends for the fun of it. I heard they filmed A TON of footage we will never see.

Could the dragons come back to life? That would be one heck of a twist and I'd absolutely love it!

Wow at the foreshadowings in season 1 through 4 episodes.
    • Dany calmly walks through a bath while the help warns, “Wait, it’s too hot to get in!”.
    • Viserys Targaryen is in a bath with Dany’s handmaiden, Doreah. She says to him, “I have seen things”... to which he responds, “What have you seen?” She replies, “I’ve seen a man from Asshai with a dagger of real dragon glass; I’ve seen a man who can change his face the way other men change their clothes; and I’ve seen a pirate who wore his weight in gold and ship had sails of coloured silk”.
    • Also in S1E4, Ned converses with Arya while in King’s Landing. Arya asks, “Can I be Lord of the whole fast?” Ned replies, “You will marry a High Lord and rule this castle, and your sons shall be knights & princes & lords.” She responds, “No that’s not me”. This could obviously be nothing..... but what if that conversation was very much intentional for us to hear? It literally occurred 6 minutes after Doreah’s impressive foreshadowing trifecta, and Arya did recently hook up with Gendry, who makes significant sense to become king. If foreshadowing, it could be less about her marriage and more about who’s sitting on the iron throne at the end. Incidentally, Gendry is literally introduced to us 5 minutes later and is referenced by Ned as “King Robert’s bastard son”. Coincidence?? If the comment to Arya was indeed foreshadowing and George RR Martin already knows at this point that Gentry will one day become king [and possible marry Arya], then it would make a heap of sense to subtly introduce Gentry shortly after his foreshadowing comment from Ned to Arya.
    • In the scene following Gendry’s introduction, Jamie Lannister basically foreshadows Theon’s betrayal of the Starks.
    • A couple scenes after that Little Finger describes how The Hound received his pretty face from The Mointain. It was over The Hound playing with his brother’s wooden horse. A wooden horse appears later in the show as well, whose young owner also ends up in a fire, Princess Shireen Baratheon.

A GoT spin-off comprised of Westeros having to battle the scary mystical Shadow Lands would be fantastic. So many references to the Shadow and its capital Asshai in the show. It’s the origin of dragons, is where Dany’s eggs came from, home of the Red Priestess, and where Euron Grayjoy said exists “Terrors beyond imagination”. See the description below:

Not to mention Bran had a vision of dragons flying over Asshai, so not only do we know they still exist there present day but also that perhaps Dany somehow gets a hold of some for the final battle.

A bit disappointed that Cersei didn’t meet her doom at the hands of a Stark, especially given how much we hate her and have eagerly awaited her demise. That would’ve been much more befitting and satisfying than this poetic garbage of the incestual twins dying in each other’s arms. All that crap she’s done to the Starks dating back to season 1, yet she’s killed by falling rubble? Cmon.

Good episode, but still.... give us what WE want rather than what’s the best death that Jamie & Cersei themselves could hope for. That pile of s*** didn’t earn a proper death.

Did we just watch Arya grow up in that episode, first by ditching her driving force [killing Cersei] and then by experiencing all that physical & emotional carnage? Will it alter her mindset and perception on life? I mean, she didn’t get to save the mother & child that Dany incinerated. That might eat away at Arya and send her on a different path, one desiring to protect the people rather than serving her own self-interest.

I say that to bring up the aforementioned S1E4 scenes where Ned Stark tells Arya that she’s gonna “rule this castle” [King’s Landing].... and then coincidentally, 5 minutes later we meet Gendry, who just so happens to be Arya’s future lover, whom Ned informs us is “King Robert Baratheon’s bastard son”. Pretty big coincidences. Until now, Arya has never wanted to be a Lady.... but if she suddenly wants to protect the people, she can help a lot more by being a queen than a warrior.

George RR Martin HAS to have hidden it somewhere in plain sight who the final occupier of the Iron Throne will be. It’s too much of a major talking point for him to not have done so.... and those 2 scenes, minutes apart, at the beginning of the show fits the bill. Might not end up as true, but it definitely fits the bill for how a writer would go about leaking something significant right under our noses that only becomes readily apparent in hindsight.

BTW, Bran’s a cripple. Does his pecker work? Does the 3ER care about a wife? His indifference toward Meera would suggest otherwise. He won’t father an heir and he won’t live forever. So what if he’s impervious to corruption & deceit; his life is finite. The 3ER can still serve as counsil to a just king, one who can actually spawn princes & princesses and keep the kingdom prospering.

Good post and completely agree. Since the afprementioned S1E4 ive been rooting for Arya because of the path she took. I give her like 20% though. I think Danys odds went down to retain the throne when she kind of lost her innocence to Jon during the fight scene. I think you could see Jon lose trust in her when she did that. I think Jon may say he will take the throne just to keep it out of her hands. Imo his odds have to be around 40-50% to get the throne. Sansa and Bran winning the throne are non starters to me...i just dont see why or how.

Somebody’s gotta terminate the Mad Queen though. Once that happens, Jon won’t need to be king. He can ride off into the sunset.

I can’t see Sansa or Bran either. Besides being incapable of carrying on an actual relationship [like with a queen] and not being able to provide an heir, he’ll eventually need time to train his 3ER successor to not warn everyone about the next catastrophic dragon attack.

After the wicked manner in which Cersei punished Ellaria Sand, she should’ve been disemboweled by Arya and forced to watch the decapitated head of her fetus roll across the floor. That would’ve still been poetic, but immensely more satisfying.

Here's where I'm so confused. I did expect Dani to go mad and burn the house down...it was the only way you could make a "hero" truly hated in one episode. It also sounds like she'll go for Sansa next episode. What I don't get is why the entire episode was basically about Arya surviving unless she still has a major role to play. That episode was honestly painful for me to watch...I hurt for the kid we watched grow up, only to abandon her mission at the last second. There was mass symbolism in that white horse as well but I couldn't tell you what it is.....

At this point, Jon either dies or rules...he has to. But I'm afraid some Starks are dying next week for us to get there. My man Tyrion is probably dead as well if Dani finds out (after all that, what's the point of even reporting him?). I do think everyone but the unsullied will turn on her though and a massive Jon/Greywurm fight is coming! Maybe Jon dies there? And why couldn't Bran tell Jon what was about to happen?

LOL, I'm not sure I like where we are at in the series...but I'm pumped for the final chapter to unfold!

How do i put my money on Arya? Her character did the same 180 that Dani’s character did. Well the opposite but you get the point. Its a bit depressing. Cant help but think the writers got a little overly political with this. The one we wanted to be leader torns into a crazed dictator and rules by fear. Think about it. Now we all hate her? Mmmm hmmm.

Unless it just simply falls to Jon. Its the closest to a happy ending we can gat now. He has dragon blood. He is the only one that can get close to Dani while she has the dragon. Or does Jon just retreat all the way back to Winterfell?

What did Arya see at the end just before she saw the white horse? Was that a sword of some kind with an animals head? Was it meant to be someones that she thought was dead?

And we dont really know for sure that Jamie and Cersei are dead right?

Perhaps the show ends with a tribute and a sendoff back to a prequel that HBO is working on. 1,000 years ago. To the time when the wall was built. To learn from that time. To learn how to move forward for the future. When GOT comes back as a movie trilogy several years from now?

Arya turns into a wimp in the end.
    The Hound dies.
    That's 2 of my favorite 3 characters.

Uh, I am so disgusted. I wanted them to go thru that kingdom on a glorious, final murdering spree. Atleast, the Hound accomplished his mission though. Damnit, man. All I have left is Bronn. Please let Bronn murder Tyrion. Tyrion pissed me off getting Varys killed. Snitches get stitches. The Imp needs to die for that.

There's a few characters that I don't see dying in the finale... Bran, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Sam (and Gillie and children). I think anyone else not mentioned are going to be fair game. Heh... in fact, who else is left? Bronn, Dani and Drogon, Davos, Jon, Brienne, Gendry, Grey Worm, what happened to the guy who was in charge of Littlefinger's army? And the teet suckling creepy kid? Oh and Daario Naharis? Dani could go and **** off and live with him? I suppose Tormund is safe as he probably won't be making another appearance in the show? Who else have I missed?

Yea it is unfortunate. It seems that even the best shows dont know how to wrap stuff up. My two favorites, The Sopranos and Lost. Ugh. Its the problem with spending so much time on a tv show (vs a movie). You want the ending to be right. Its not over for GOT yet. Breaking Bad ended the right way that last season. Of course now we all hate Dani so when she inevitably gets killed off, its a means to an end.

Jamie and Cersei started this whole thing.

I think their death as the culmination of what they wrought by the literal castle and throne crashing down upon them was just.

Arya is totally going to kill green eyes Dany.

Meh, most of us couldn’t care less about being just & poetic regarding Cersei. She’s a ruthless c*** who became one of the most hated TV characters of all time. Thus, any desire for an artsy poetic death is MONUMENTALLY trumped by the need to satisfy the masses who’ve been eagerly awaiting her glorious slaying for 8 years now! 95% of us wanted to be able to stand & cheer at her demise..... yet, of the list of possible deaths that could produce such an ovation, being crushed by rubble in Jamie’s loving comforting arms sits at like #973, 300 spots behind death by small pox and like 100 spots after food poisoning.

She’s the last person in Westeros to earn a death that’s most satisfactory to her, not after what she did to the Starks and certainly not after how she cruelly sentenced Ellaria Sand to live out her days in a cell, forced to witness her beloved daughter slowly decompose to bones.

Is it possible for Jon Snow to be a Baratheon, rather than Targaryen? He’s got black hair, not white [recall Ned reading the historical book]..... and in S1E8 a point is made of showing Jon’s hand getting burned while throwing a torch at the white walker. It’d give Bran a chance to make another usable appearance w/ one more vision, and it’d provide Jon a stronger excuse to go against Dany, as well as allow him the birthright to the throne, to which he then uses to legitimize Gendry, the true oldest living heir to the throne, to whom Jon then passes the job onto.

FTR, I don't think Cersei got off light. She lost all her children and her dignity and her kingdom and it was all set in motion by her. She had to watch everything burn until she was literally crushed by her choices. That is what I mean by just.

She wasn't physically tortured, but she was mentally tortured as consequences of her actions since the show started. She made her bed and was forced to lie in it.

None of that has anything to do with the way she died, nor was it contingent upon her being crushed by rubble, as she had already lost her children, dignity, castle, title, and kingdom before the ceiling collapsed on her.

She needed a proper redeeming death for the 95% who badly craved it.

Why are people Twitter-complaining that Dany’s madness wasn’t foreshadowed? I’m watching proof of it right now in Season 1. It was foreshadowed by both the Grand Maestor in E10 and the blind Aemon Targaryen of the Night’s Watch in E9.

First Aemon warns Jon about how the heavy loss of loved ones will make some of us sacrifice our honor, and then Grand Maestor tells us about Dany’s father turning from a good man to evil, planting the seed right then and there that Dany might be predisposed to losing her honor should the right triggers be ignited, which they were.

Even in the current season, Dany began showing cracks a few episodes ago. There's a cool theory out there that she didn't lose it though...that it was all Bran warging into the dragon and making her appear evil so Jon would get the throne. Once Jon makes the claim and "wins", Bran essentially controls him and rules the Iron Throne.

I don't think that's the direction the show will go....but it was fun to think about for a few minutes anyway. =)

I agree...didn't make sense not to post all the ones that are still alive though. I just thought they were fun....like bettors expecting Arya to die 1st or that Sansa will marry Tyron. I think both of those are wrong.
