A Twitter user is looking for help identifying a signature that appears to be for someone wearing #25 - but could be a camp body... Anyone have a clue?
You've got me. It looks like the initials are O.G. But as he said, that doesn't match anyone who wore the number in a regular season game. So many guys get cycled through in camp every year that I have no idea.
It would be a lot more helpful if we knew at least like...a 5 year span of when this may have been signed.
Yeah, if we assume that the helmet is from the period that he was on the team, it only narrows it down from between 1997-2012.
I went ahead and checked the database of all NFL players historically with the combinations: "OG, QG, OC, QC" as initials. I couldnt find anyone who could be a match. The first word almost looks like "Official" scribbed out illegiblely. I see a definite O (possibly but unlikely a Q) what could be an F, a dot where an I could be near the end and an L. I cant think of a human name with that combination of letters, but I could be entirely wrong. Oddly enough, and I dont this has anything to do with it, 25 is the number of years between 1972 and 1997 the first year of the helmet.
I looked up players who have worn 25. When there was obviously no one whose name looked similar, I focused on last names as players often go by a different first name. The last name on the sig looked like it could maybe be Allen. so I just googled Will Allen's signature. The funniest part is the twitter account asking the question has the last name of Allen.
It looks absolutely nothing like his name. It even looks slightly different from the posted pictures signature. Good job FinD
I'll be honest that I didnt really look at primary players, I thought it might be too obvious. Especially since his W is an O lol
Someone needs to go on twitter and tell that guy it is Will Allen. I would, but I don't have twitter.
Nice one! I've posted the answer in a reply on the Tweet giving credit to you FinD, and also with a link to your post. Well done sir! ThePhins.com should do mugs and you should win one.
Ah the veneer of authority. If only I was as powerful as you dream me to be. Sadly, I'm nothing more than an servant keeping things tidy at the base of Mount Olympus. Somewhere, higher up on the mountain live the demi-god admins. I'll happily suggest the idea to them, and then they can usher forth into the presence of the all-mighty owners. Who know, perhaps one day they may deign to grace us with mugs from above. Then, on that day, we can all buy one together.
Two things to remember: - celebrities often have have 2 signatures. One for autographs and one for official documents. - signing on a curved helmet will distort a signature compared to one signed on a flat surface. Also you have the variance caused by pen type and surface type. (My signature on the back of my credit/debit cards isn’t the same as my signature on paper).
