Guys I can't wait to see the game this week. My boy Rainey going to go off the hook this week! Brandon James play some slot. I can't wait.

Matt Patchan also may start the game. That is alittle disappointing in Omar Hunter considering he may be our 5th or 6th DT

I can't wait to be AT the game :D

Very disappointing about Hunter, but as long as we're dominant on defense, I don't care who does it. Fortunately, this isn't the NFL and we don't have to worry wasted 1st round picks. :hi5:

I'll call you when I get close to the stadium. Joey's been counting down the days for three weeks.

Solid performance today. Nothing too flashy, don't wanna show your whole hand on opening day. Defense looked much improved, can't complain about 2 pick 6s and all the other TOs. Special teams looked good except for the lack of deep kickoffs. Offense looked pretty vanilla, for good reason. Love the fact that every TD we scored was by a different person. Looking forward to next week.

Phillips wasn't the only one performing kcik offs today. They had four different guys kicking the ball off. Why? I don't know.

Ongoing competition. None of them seemed to hit the endzone, they all were going about the same distance.

Lots of stuff to love about that game, but plenty to worry about too.
I still haven't seen the replay, so my thoughts on the game are not complete. I was very distracted at the game... long story that will only get my blood pressure up if I repeat it.

Who is Lawrenece Marsh and where did he come from? Hot damn he is destructive!

I kept an eye on Ahmed Black most of the game thanks to Motion's linky :hi5:
    What a stud.
Wandy was barely even tested, and Haden looks great.
I am very optimistic about our secondary, which most can remember is a stark contrast to last year.

Dustin Dow was just okay. I didn't see much of an improvement over last year, but it really hard to get a good read on a LB against a spread offense. Ryan Stampier was great though.

I see Dunlap is listed at 290. I guess I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. Just like I don't see Rainey at 5'9" 185, but yet Percy Harvin is 5'11" 195???
Anyway, Dunlap is getting there. He is still thinking A LOT during his play. It really slows him down.

    I don't think I really need to comment on Rainey/Demps/James, right? :D

Screen passes!!! Brandon James involved in the passing game!!!
At some point (either late 2nd quarter or 3rd quarter) we ran a bubble type screen in James on the left side behind two WR's. 9 yards.
We could run that all day, and break it long consistently, with little down side. Obviously, you don't wear it out, but I'm so freaking happy we're finally running it. It's just another play that opens so much else up.
Yeah, crowd the LoS over there with Murphy and Cooper. Go ahead, I dare you.

Speaking of Murphy and Cooper, and the other WR's. Know what they did today.
    BLOCK!
Meyer went on and on about Cooper holding on to one of his blocks for 7 seconds.
I saw David Nelson flat out push a safety to the ground, straight up.

As Motion said, we were vanilla. Vanilla to the point that French Vanilla will look exotic. We may have been more conservative than we were in the beginning of last year. However, I don't expect a lot of holding back against UM.

The Pouncey boys are just nasty. I want to see more on film, but they have so much energy and purpose in their play. They will very likely go down as some of my all time favorite Gators.

Just want to point out that Tate Casey is back! He may be 35 years old, but damn it was good to see him on the field and playing very well. He's played like he fully realizes just how fleeting a career can be.

I have my doubts about the UM game, it seems like a perfect upset for them.

Kinda, I wouldn't bet on an Urban Meyer upset at the Swamp though. Its possible but very unlikely.

Hey bro go look at the box score on ESPN and it will have the times of all the scores. Figured that would be easier for u.

Miami upset the Gators in the swamp? Are we serious? I mean call me crazy but I don't think they will be able to stay with us. They have a great running game and play good defense, But this offense is going to drive them crazy. With Percy back its going to be tough for them to contain us. I look for them to blitz Tebow a lot. If we can give him alittle time we will torch them. If they get to Tebow it might be really tough to score.

Meyer wants this game bad, especially for recruiting purposes. I don't see an upset, I don't see a close score. I don't think Meyer will let up on them at all by bringing in the freshman and backups like the Hawaii game. This is a statement game. Vegas line is 21 right now.

Not with Urban Meyer at the helm.
This game means way too much to recruiting, in addition to everything else.

EDIT: Darn it. I should always finish reading the thread. Motion read my mind. :hi5:

If this game were being played next year - maybe. We are way too young for me to expect a win at The Swamp in a night game were there will be upwards of 90,000 well greased Gator fans. I have a feeling UF is going to try and make a statement in this game and if I was them I would too. If both teams play at their best, I still say UF is 14-17 points better at this time. But it is a rivalry, most of these kids know each other having competed against each other in high school so it could be close. And by that I mean 31-17 Gators.

If we go up there and get thrashed like we did at Oklahoma last year (a game I traveled to), the fuzzy feelings Canes fans have about this recruiting class will turn into venom for Shannon, Nix and Co. It's sad but thats how the majority of Miami fans are.

I would really have to agree with you. Great recruiting class still needs time to mature. Very few kids are ready to make an impact their first year on campus. This will be a very hostile crowd and a lot for young kids to handle. I expect the Gators to make a statment to every recruit in florida this year

I may be in the minority, but I was not that impressed with the offense. Just did not seem like we were clicking.

I was happy to see the D step up a bit. Even though I still want to see our Run d play better. We will need it next week.

Hopefully it is just like motion said "not showing your hand"... I just want to destroy UM. A few obnoxious fans at my job that I would love to shut up. :wink2:

I wouldn't worry about the offense. They really did nothing. It was like a preseason game with the play calling.

BTW, not sure if anyone posted it but the reason Moody didn't play much was a sprained? ankle. I saw him in on the first series, but never again. Meyer said this after the game.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in Coral Gables this week. What are their coaches saying to each other as they prep for this game? Not that I think UF is unstoppable. Just the rediculous amount of home run weapons to stop.

I watched a lot of the Hawaii game and that was about as vanilla an offensive gameplan as you can have. The defense was the same way. Miami did the same thing in their gameplan against the HS team they played - if you have superior athletes, no sense in trying to scheme your way to a victory.

Very curious to see how we show up on Saturday night and how well this young team will deal with both the atmosphere and any adversity in the early part of the game. I imagine Bill Young has had the Michigan game in a neverending loop since he took the Miami DC job. Michigan did a really good job of containing Tebow and I would expect our gameplan to be the same.
