I wanted Jack in that draft as well, but in retrospect if I was given the choice of two among, a pro-bowl LT, a pro-bowl LB and a pro-bowl CB, I'd probably pick the LT and CB. It's tough to criticize that draft now, especially if you add in picking up Drake in the 3rd and Grant in the 6th.
Umm.. those numbers aren't correct. Furthermore, adjusting stats initially then just showing raw stats for the first 3 games is really bad. Here's the way to adjust stats for era if you want to double check what guys on twitter post. First look at league averages across history: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/NFL/passing.htm You'll notice that passing yards per game was 205.9 in 1984 but 250.2 in 2018 (so far). Look at the ratio of those two numbers and you get 250.2/205.9 = 1.2159. That ratio is what you multiply Marino's passing yards in 1984 by to estimate what he'd have in 2018: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1984/passing.htm Marino had 5084 passing yards in 1984 so 5084*1.2159 = 6182 passing yards, which is huge but it is NOT 6500! The TD's are closer to correct. The ratio for TD's 1.8/1.4 = 1.2857 so 1.2857*48 = 62 TD's. Anyway, if they're going to then compare stats over the first 3 games, those should be adjusted too. Tannehill has a 121.8 rating in 2018 while Marino's 122.5 rating adjusted to 2018 would be 122.5*1.2623 = 154.6. Let's not act like Tannehill = Marino, especially with misleading stats there (seriously, either adjust everything or don't adjust anything, but mixing it up like that??).
The problem I have is without other grades to compare to I don't know how to keep PFF grades in perspective. For example, I see Fitzpatrick's grade of 81.4 and think hey he got a B-. However, compared to the rest of the league he might be in the top 5. Not that it really matters though. He's playing well, and that is all I should really care about. Thanks again for all you do Galant. Your hard work is much appreciated!
[sigh] I guess that's okay. [ho-hum] I expected him to be 1st in everything. What a huge disappointment. [sigh] ;-)
