Such a huge loss. visionary - up there with Walt Disney. Fitting that on my current trip to India, I've already watched 4 Marvel movies and spent hours reading Avengers comics on my kindle. So glad I got to meet him at comic-con a few years ago .... guy genuinely loved his fans.
That's awesome that you got the opprotunity! He was always such a likable guy. As someone who has been into Marvel for more than 30 years, I think that in a way, the greatest compliment to him is that in his final few decades of life, his work suddenly became part of the mainstream, and those who have always loved it have been able to share it with so many more.
https://geektyrant.com/news/abc-renews-marvels-agents-of-shield-for-season-7 Shockingly awesome news. Agents of Shield, who nearly everyone expected to be cancelled after Season Five, has now been renewed for Season Seven, which will air in 2020. Season Six will be a summer show, airing (and presumably taking place) after the next Avengers movie in 2019. Marvel has also now released an official MCU timeline, which basically matches up with what people had been speculating. https://screenrant.com/mcu-timeline-official/ 1943-1945: Captain America: The First Avenger 2010: Iron Man 2011: Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor 2012: The Avengers, Iron Man 3 2013: Thor: The Dark World 2014: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 2015: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man 2016: Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2016 through to 2017: Doctor Strange 2017: Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War
Well, they did admit that its wrong, and shouldn't have been done that way. My guess is that because its a Sony movie and not the property of Marvel, that the director got his creative choice or whatever in spite of their wishes. I mean, that could not have gotten past anyone and into the world otherwise. The first time anyone saw it, alarms should have gone off.
I have mixed feelings about the MCU so far. Although the movies have been great, the characters that I grew up reading have been basically left out so far. I understand they lost the rights to some but I really hope now that they are buying them back they start putting in the characters I read. So far only Dr. Strange and Vision have made it into the universe and unfortunately just recently. I will say the Dr. Strange movie was awesome and true to the character. The characters I grew up reading and want to see WARLOCK - The greatest comic ever. So far a cocoon and a vague reference. Look I understand he is extremely difficult to explain to 13 year olds, the target demographic, but you have made several movies about the infinity gauntlet and he still hasnt appeared. without warlock there is no infinity gauntlet and no thanos SILVER SURFER - now that the battles are off earth, you have to get the rights to silver surfer and get him involved. Space is empty without the Silver Surfer involved. GHOST RIDER - Whoever cast Nicholas Cage as the Ghost Rider should be beheaded live on the internet for the blasphemy that was the two Ghost Rider movies. I actually liked the Ghost Rider they used on Agents of Shield. I would be cool if they used either Ghost Rider though my preference is they reboot the Johnny Blaze character MASTER OF KUNG FU "SHANG CHI" - OK. So some television hotshot decided the next MARVEL character that needed his own show should be a Martial Artist. How the hell do you pick Iron Fist over Shang Chi?!!!!!! Shang Chi would wipe the floor with Iron Fist and get back in time to prepare a delicious bowl of pork dumplings for his fellow super heroes. Shang Chi was involved in several storylines. Iron Fist? Well Iron Fist is cancelled so hopefully when the movie execs are looking for a Martial Art Super Hero they turn to Shang Chi and avoid the millenial snowflake Iron Fist MAN-THING - OK Not everybody's bag of tea and to this day I cant quite explain why I liked him. And there is virtually no difference between him and Swamp Thing the DC ripoff. But get MAN THING into the universe!!!We need a swamp movie SON OF SATAN - Very minor character in the universe but he and Ghost Rider were in a few storylines together and they were some of the better storylines that Marvel did BEAST - Since X-Men is the only successful Marvel franchise outside the main Marvel universe we will probably never see the Beast which is a shame since he was in a lot of storylines outside the X-Men ok so those are the ones I want to see. Also the tv series DEFENDERS was the worst version of the DEFENDERS I have ever seen. Go back to the bad *** Defenders..DR. STRANGE, SUB MARINER, HULK. Those were the DEFENDERS. Dont give me IRON FIST and Jessica Jones!!!! And more VISION and Dr. Strange now that they are in the universe Thank you my rant is over
You'll be pleased to hear that they just started the process of making a Shang Chi movie then! No real idea on the time frame. Beyond that, if you haven't been following closely, Disney just bought the vast majority of the Marvel properties that they didn't already have the rights to. So in time, we're going to have a lot more movies made of a lot more characters.
Awesome!!!!!His story is so much more interesting than Iron Fist's. Hopefully they get the next Jet Li or Donnie Yen to play him. some real bad *** mo fo
oh after my rant i do want to give props to the DAREDEVIL series. I was never really into daredevil but the TV SERIES is awesome. The acting is as good as it gets too and Vincent Donofrio is unbelievable as KINGPIN. I realize you dont get emmies for playing comic book villains but they should seriously consider giving him the award. Best villain since Heath Ledger's Joker
https://geektyrant.com/news/rumor-h...ix-and-it-was-one-of-the-most-in-demand-shows I've seen this several places this week, and believe it to be true. Netflix didn't cancel Daredevil and the other shows, Marvel did. Disney wants everything under their own control with their own streaming service coming in a few years. For those who like the shows, I'm sorry and that stinks. My wife and I contemplated them, and decided not to watch them. Too dark and miserable, not our style.
It makes more sense that Netflix canceled them because while they were on Netflix, they could be used as backdoor advertisement for Disney's delivery service. To be honest, I am not super sad to see them go. Mostly because it is more than I ever thought I would get. In my liifetime Sony did not want to spend $25 million for all of the Marvel catalogs except Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk and the Fantastic Four because no one would want to see movies based on those characters, and now there are 19 of those movies.
https://geektyrant.com/news/avengers-endgame-poster-and-trailer-break-down-and-discussion A good shot by shot rundown of the new trailer. I really liked it. Obviously, there's a lot going on. And not only do they have to be wary of spoilers like any movie, but they have to sidestep everything that happens in Captain Marvel, and then also not give away anything that might effect in Far From Home also.
https://geektyrant.com/news/scott-derrickson-confirmed-to-return-to-direct-doctor-strange-2 Director Scott Derrickson is confirmed back to direct the second Dr Strange movie. Its not known when it'll be shot and released.
I got the book Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years yesterday, and its really nice. Not as thick as I thought that it would be, but still a nice read and a good coffee table book. It features an article about each film, including which characters first appeared in each one, easter eggs included in them, details of the end credits scenes, and an interview with one of the actors. Definately a nice book for anyone who's seen most of or all of the movies, and is really into it.
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/profile/jake279/lists/marvel-characters-owned-by-fox/67036/?page=1 This is an apparently complete list of all of the characters that Marvel will get access to when the deal between Disney and FOX becomes official.
binged watched Daredevil S3 over the weekend. Soooo Fing good!! Hopefully they don't reboot this series once Marvel brings them back. Cant wait to see BE in his costume. Great acting from the cast (esp. King Pin and DD)and action all around.
I didn't mention in my original response to Adam - if you weren't aware, Ghost Rider is a part of the MCU already. He's been part of several seasons of Agents of Shield. Warlock, Silver Surfer and Beast are all almost guaranteed to appear before too long.
damn some exciting players there. first and foremost - galactus. one of my all time favorites. alpha flight - yes please. starjammers
They've talked about how difficult the idea of Galactus would be to pull off. They'd have to come up with something really creative.
anything is better than what was done in FF-2. that was awful looking through that list, wonder if they would ever be brave enough to make an x-men vs the Brood flick. it would take on a bit of horror. they were one of my favorite baddies in the 80s
I think that once they do start incorporating the X-Men into the MCU, they're likely to try and keep away from doing the exact same villains that FOX did, other than Magneto, at least from the start. It'll be interesting to see who they decide to go with.
https://geektyrant.com/news/the-ave...utside-of-the-first-15-20-minutes-of-the-film Avengers: Endgame won't have any marketing that deals with things outside of the first 15-20 minutes of the movie. I love this, and think that its a great idea. I'm also going to have to go on near social media blackout after it comes out until I see it, because I had the ending of Infinity War somewhat spoiled by someone on Instagram, even though I saw it less than a week after it released.
No offense but does it really matter what happens in these movies at the end? I find it impossible to form any emotional connections to the characters and you know with almost near certainty that if someone die(s) or apparently dies they'll come back. The only character that's been able to appeal to my emotions is Batman.
Obviously, we're all different and nothing is going to appeal to everyone. For me, the MCU as a whole is my favorite thing from entertainment in my entire life. I feel that they've done such an amazing job with casting the right actors, writing the movies, presenting them the right way, and especially above it all, connecting them together. THAT is the trick for me that makes it so meaningful. Everything that happens in one happens in all of the other ones too. It just builds and grows. And I do care for so many of the characters. Not every single one of course, but most of the various sections of the MCU have a group that is unique, well written, and fun to watch. I'm attached to dozens of them, lol.
My wife is a marvel fanatic I guess I haven't inmeressed myself over the course of years to appreciate it. I didn't realize how big of a thing this was until recently.
Batman is definitely near the top of my list. but there are some characters I've gotten attached to in Marvel universe. Starlord, Hulk, Antman
Spiderman is my favorite comic book character by a huge distance. I am very attached to the MCU version. I am also attached to Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers as they have grown so much as characters over the last ten years. I love the Black Panther crew as they have great characters and my heart hurt a little when I dsw the reaction to Black Panthet disappear. Though that did reduce the tension dir me because I know there is no way that was going to stick. Myself I am even attached to Antman, whose character is much better than the movies he is in. I never feel that attached to Batman. Batman Begins is the only movie where Batman is more interesting than his villains. The Dark Knight Rises version is a whiney little baby. Batfleck is not really a character.
Yeah, different things for different people . I've never really been into batman myself, but the better all the comic movies are made abs the more popular they are, the better it is for the whole genre. And marvel likely has at least another decade of things up their sleeve. I'm giddy at the very idea of 40 to 50 movies, all tied together and connected in the same universe, with occasional throwbacks and cameos ten years from now with characters from the early movies!
yeah, the MCU spiderman is great so far. hopefully we get a few more movies. Growing up, as a kid, always related to the darker Batman backstory. why he always stuck with me. and I enjoyed all three Nolan flicks. Batfleck has come very close to ruining it though.
