Jarvis is a good and all but he's not OBJ or Antonio Brown, his toughness will be the hardest element of his game to replace but playing smart and more speed should help with that.

If I was a family member of one of those in the Browns WR room, I would be wondering if Landry was talking about my son. I know he was generalizing and not calling anyone out specifically, but it still doesn't reflect well on the group. I think Landry, the WR coach, and HBO will be the only ones who appreciate that video segment.

An obvious perspective probably, but just as a reminder, Jarvis isn't a Dolphin anymore, so anything he says or does is irrelevant to who we are. Even if he balls out in Cleveland - or fails utterly - or whether or not he is the consummate leader it means nothing to us, because there are no guarantees the same would have happened here. It's alternate reality stuff.

Landry is a Brown. Nothing he does matters any more. So if you're prone to frustration, I'd say let it go. No point dwelling on the past or imaginary futures.

Let Landry be what he will be. May the Dolphins bring it this year and continue to find more and more success. May the best team win!

You can tell a lot about a person's character by how they act in high pressure situations. All too often, Landry loses his cool, and does incredibly stupid things.

Football is a team sport. You can have all the fire in the world and if the talent around you is mediocre it won't matter. Look at Marino. 10x the fire of Landry and we still had plenty of down season with him leading the charge.

Can’t argue against that. But my point is, when he was here 95% of us loved that about him, and now that he’s gone? We are all anti Jarvis guy’s who we are soooo glad his one dimensional *** is gone!

Just a silly overall reaction in my opinion

I wonder what the narrative would be if Tannehill leaves!! OMG I hope he wins 5 Super Bowls with the Patriots now that he has signed there!!!!!

I think with Landry there was a collective sense of denial as to his character.

The Club level provided some good insight as to why many of us reversed our position on both re-signing him and our feelings about him. It was a steady descent that was well deserved. I was someone that loved Landry, now I'm thrilled that he is gone, both from a football perspective (allowing Tannehill to distribute the ball more evenly) and a locker room perspective where it seems to have been image over substance for Jarvis.

With that being said, you still have respect him for his work ethic and dedication to his craft, which ultimately led him to a life altering contract. Just glad it's not in Miami.

I get that, and I agree with a lot of what you are saying. But the team offered him 11M a year. So how bad were these issues really, if the “victims” of Landry’s tirades, tried to keep him on the team?

But yea, I will root for him to do well in Cle, but I understand the offensive philosophy without him.

I strongly believe the contract offer was more a PR move. They knew what the gap was, held firm to their number. I don't think Gase wanted him on the team. It was apparent that during TC 2017 they were prepared to play hardball and see how he acted during the 17 season. His subsequent implosion and attitude sealed his fate here. Remember, there was a lot of chatter that he was on the trading block before the deadline.

Yeah, I loved him...until I started finding out about his doucher tendencies. Once I heard about those things, I totally flipped my stance on him. Add in how much he washed to get paid, and I am glad he's gone.

It's not pointless. Having leaders and fire can have a net positive impact, how you measure that I don't know..

Well they also franchised him. That tells me they were prepared to live with big bad Jarvis another year if they couldn’t find a trade partner.

Alls well ends well, best for everyone in the end I assume.

I think they overestimated his value on the open market...

Wouldn't be the first time Tannenbaum misjudged a situation.

They also had a potential PR nightmare, whether they admitted it or not, Landry was the face of the franchise so they had to at least create the facade that they working with him. I don't envy the position they were in. In retrospect they should have traded him at the deadline as they probably could have received more in return.

IMO, there is the right kind of fire and the wrong kind. For example, I think Jakeem Grant has the right kind of fire. He works hard and has the right temperament.

WADR, if you don't know how to measure it, you cannot say it has a net positive impact. That's like saying you won a game of one on one but never kept score.

I suppose one could argue that the right kind of fire helps and not hurts the team. Which he did both.

lol.. great response. But I'd also like to see what any other supposedly average QB (Tannehill or not) would do in that system for a few years because it would help answer the question of how much of NE's success is due to Brady vs. Belichick.

From the little bit we've seen, I think Garappolo is a better QB than Brady. The guy is 10-0 as a starter in the league (for two teams...the best and the worst) and he sees the field beautifully- Brady did us a huge favor by getting him shipped out. I also think that's going to sink the franchise though in these upcoming years when Brady gets hurt or retires.

I’m not knocking RT by saying Brady is better. Kinda of obvious save to maybe a few around here. I think he may be better than he has here in NE, but Tom’s ball placement and poised would be hard to match by many.

So I basically think being on that team and that system would bump an average QB up to good, but still not many I feel would reach Tom’s level. He is the reigning MVP after all.

Agreed. I’m glad we don’t have to graduate Tom just to move on to Jimmy.

If I were a franchise and could take any QB the next 5 years?? Garap would be in that top 5 for me.

7-0.. which is a REALLY small sample size, so I think the jury is still quite a ways out on him.

Also, I think Brady is one of the all-time greats so it's going to take a lot before I'd agree any QB is better than Brady. The adjusted ratings I did before shows you might have maybe 10 QB's since the mid 70's that you could argue are statistically better in terms of efficiency, but in terms of wins added it's less than a handful.

I thought he was 6-0 in San Fran and 4-0 when Brady served the suspension the other year. I could be wrong though.

Across his career I agree with you, nobody has been so consistent for so long. He's had so many horrible games against Miami though that I've just never ranked him as an elite QB. I think he benefits greatly from that system and he wouldn't have any rings without Belichek. That's just my opinion though.

Yeah, totally. I will always remember him because he once posted one of the funniest pictures I have ever seen. I saved it somewhere. I would literally break out cracking up every time I would see it. I haven't looked at it in awhile. I know I will still crack up just as hard when I do. A gift of true laughter is a great thing. Hope he's well. Peace!
