Obviously this is early, but nothing to stop any pre-camp conversation. And then when the date arrives we can pick up from there.

Is he still around? LOL, he'd have to be in his late 70's these days. I remember some of the 80's and 90's players would pay to fly him to away games since he wasn't an "official" mascot- he must have been a really good guy.

    Edit-

I just looked him up and he passed in 2007 from kidney disease and cancer at age 72. So he would have been in his 80's if he were still around. I did read that the team finally started paying him $50 a game though (after almost 4 decades of cheering), so that's pretty cool anyway. RIP buddy!

Fox Sports Training Camp Summary - https://www.foxsports.com/florida/story/miami-dolphins-training-camp-072118

    MIAMI DOLPHINS (6-10)
OPEN CAMP: July 26, Davie, Florida

LAST YEAR: Dolphins regressed in second season under Adam Gase. As rookie coach he led them to 10 wins and playoff berth, but in 2017 Dolphins never recovered from quarterback Ryan Tannehill‘s season-ending knee injury in training camp, and deteriorated into wildly inconsistent, undisciplined team. They led to start fourth quarter in only two games and were outscored by 112 points, fourth worst in NFL. Owner Stephen Ross decided to keep organization’s core leadership intact, but Gase and executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum may need turnaround to keep jobs beyond this year.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: S Minkah Fitzpatrick, G Josh Sitton, DE Robert Quinn, WR Danny Amendola, WR Albert Wilson, C Daniel Kilgore, TE Mike Gesicki, RB Frank Gore, RB Kalen Ballage, QB Brock Osweiler.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: DT Ndamukong Suh, WR Jarvis Landry, C Mike Pouncey, G Jermon Bushrod, K Cody Parkey, QB Jay Cutler, QB Matt Moore, TE Julius Thomas, LB Lawrence Timmons.

CAMP NEEDS: Dolphins will count on two players with no NFL experience to assume significant roles. Linebacker Raekwon McMillan, their most promising rookie in 2017, is back after knee injury in first exhibition game ended his season. Fitzpatrick is expected to make immediate impact after being taken with 11th overall pick in April. Most of all, Gase needs to keep Tannehill healthy as quarterback comes back from two serious injuries to left knee since December 2016.

EXPECTATIONS: Tannehill became starter as rookie in 2012 and has still never taken postseason snap, and there’s plenty of reason to doubt that will change this year. While he returns, Dolphins bid adieu to three players with Pro Bowl resumes in Suh, Landry and Pouncey. There were financial reasons, and Gase also wanted change in culture. He believes addition of such veterans as Gore, Amendola and Quinn represents upgrade, but oddsmakers disagree. They project Dolphins to again be six-win team.

Someone tell me where I can lay money on this. Please!
It's quite Humorous they list 9 guys as Important loses and ultimately there are only two on the list that I think will really be felt, Suh and Parkey. Possibly Jarvis. The rest of them we won't even notice and that includes Pouncey. Injuries have hurt him too much and I think San Diego is going to have some serious buyers remorse on that one.

The only loss we haven't made a clear and concerted effort to directly replace is Suh. We have more than replaced Landry, more than replaced Thomas, I think we have upgraded over Pouncey...Tunsil isn't a "rookie" LT any longer. Sitton is an upgrade at LG, JD at RG exclusively should help, and we'll see how healthy JJ is at RT. I agree that we need swing T depth, but...no team has total depth.

I like our young defenders...we are going to need to focus on DE in next years draft when we could conceivably lose 3 major players...Wake, Hayes, and Branch. I am bullish on our young LBs, and I think Fitz is going to be a pro bowl level player. At CB, we have tons of talent. The Dbackfield has the talent to be one of the best in the league.

There is a lot to like about this team...I do sort of understand why the national media isn't getting it.

Exactly! IMO, Miami's Suh sized hole is the only thing that is making me not expect a Super Bowl run. I think this is a very talented team.

Just at this moment, not enough "elite" talent. Just Jones and Wake. Some people might step up to be elite. We will see.

Suh is a real talent and force at his position, the thing is how many teams have guys like that around the league? 4 or 5 I'd guess. So are the guys we have closer to the mean of everyone else or are they bottom of the barrel? I dont think they are bottom of the barrel, I think they are closer to the mean.

It is more about having elite player who can step up and dominate than the position.

Miami needs at least one player to step up and be great. I think X can

Here's how I look at it- the last 50 Super Bowl winners didn't have Suh up front either. He's a luxury we simply couldn't afford and since we didn't have the LB corp to pair him with, it was largely wasted money anyway. He's an awesome, once in a generation type of player, but I just don't think a DT is worth that kind of money.

I think we have four or more players that could wear that elite tag this season though- Wake, Jones, Fitzpatrick, Howard and maybe even McDonald. And of course, we're all hoping McMillian becomes the star we're expecting him to be- to me it all hinges on him. If he can be that Zach Thomas type of presence then it makes everyone else look better. I can see a top 10 unit if everything clicks early.
