Great trade, i was browsing the other forum and some are saying theyre hoping we only gave up a 4th/5th rounder for the guy.

First its already reported its a midround pick and a swap of a late pick. Second, trading a 2nd round pick for a guy of Quinn’s caliber is a damn good trade, trading him for something much less is even better. People need to stop being so damn greedy.

Established all pro Defensive ends like quinn are never this cheap. He didnt fit with the rams 3-4 defense and the rams needed cap space so we lucked out. But if the rams wanted a second for him, u give up that second and dont look back..

I don’t think those are enough on their own. I think they are counting on Landry being traded for sure.

There is likely no edge rushers worth a pick in the 1st that will be there at 11 other than Davenport, which is debatable but he could be gone by then. Great move giving up little compensation, I read on their forums they are happy they got anything because they really need cap relief and he didn’t fit in the 3-4 anyways, so a win win for both teams. I’ve also just heard on nfl network that there’s little guaranteed money in the 2 years remaining so we are covered if he gets hurt.

Fills a big need and if they can grab a decent interior lineman that doesn’t want $10 million a year and we don’t do much if any shopping otherwise, I would be very impressed with Tannenbaum for being able to resist blowing his ****

A few people have mentioned what a great deal this was/is if Quinn
can stay healthy... caveat emptor he has missed 16 games in the past 3 seasons

This tells me the dolphins have very little if any real faith in Harris and Branch. We just spent a first round pick last year on harris and gave branch a fat new contract for not much return at all.

Meh if he was healthy than I’d be estatic with the trade. I have a feeling he’s going to be in limited a limited roll 3rd down kinda pass rush situation. This front office really loves to try and find recovering players who they hope recover and lightning strikes.

If he’s out 6+ games a year this is a bad deal IMHO.

Also didn’t he play in the 3/4 last year and had one if not his worst years ever?

I think it shows that the Dolphins realize that Wake is near the end of his career and they need to look for a DE to play opposite Harris over the coming years.
While Wake has been a great player, he really wasn’t the same player last year and it appeared that age and injuries finally caught up with him. I doubt Wake will be a Dolphin in 2018 unless he is willing to sign for a contact at a lot less money than he is signed for at this time.

does not say that at all, at least with respect to Harris. Branch is more obvious though. wouldn't surprise me if Branch is traded for a 7th round pick with that contract

This is great news, Quinn is 27 years old and has a lot of football left in him in my opinion. Hopefully he can impact this defense as this could potentially be a great trade for us. Then again, he might end up being the Miami version of Mario Williams. Lets hope not.

Branch yes but not Harris. The guy was a raw talent coming out he wasn’t going to blow you away his rookie year. Now that he’s had a season under his belt and he will get a lot more playing time likely starting opposite of Quinn, we will see. Branch just sucks but we have to wait till next year and we save 8.9 mill in cap space. Getting Quinn and not paying Landry upwards of $15 million is a step in the right direction.

Yes he had 8.5 sacks in 15 games but he doesn’t fit in the 3-4. His best years were in the 4-3 under Jeff fisher. They would probably rather gamble on Quinn than a 4th round rookie draft pick.

careful what you wish for... Wake has a high cap number 9ish million if memory serves, but to cut him his cap hit is only 500k.

It's a big gamble. Those were not quality sacks last year, according to one Rams fan on youtube. He's been diminished ever since the back injury.

At least we can cut him with no cap penalty after this year...

I cannot believe the amount of hate wake gets on this forum. It's like the dolphins can never appreciate their best players until they lose them. Wake did not show any signs of slowing down at all imo. He is still the best pass rusher on this team by far even with this Quinn trade. Quinn is not as good as wake. Wake is still one of the top 5 pass rushers in the league he had 11 sacks last year and his pass rush productivity was top 3 in the league I believe, and that is even though he gets held almost every snap and every team specifically tailor their blocking schemes to stop him with constant chip blocks and double teams.

Wake has been one of the few consistently bright spots on this team for years and he is also one of the few who is not overpaid. He earns his paycheck.

Multiple injuries including his back, along with his very expensive contract given our cap situation should have killed this trade, but just leave it up to tbaum to throw common sense out the window. Another stupid move by tbaum I think he has got to be the worst GM in the NFL. Ross better wake up and fire this guy already he is going to leave us in worse shape than he left the jets.
