If he had 2 hands... I'm confident that he'd be a 2nd round pick. So, where does that put him? I'd be fine taking him in the 3rd-5th...

Remind me again who's in that conference? Oh yeah, temple, cincinnati, etc. Plus He's six foot tall. You think a six foot lb is going to solve our problems covering 6'6" tight ends. Maybe if they let him play with a foam We're number one hand on his stump. Otherwise He's a backup at best

I guess Auburn was an aberration..

and this is why I'm so excited about the player..Its kind of a Joe Schobert situation, a player who I thought displayed a very hi level of talent, a player I lobbied hard for against everyone telling me the same as you are now, a player who was undersized and at a spot in the draft where I could get him without a high resource..

Joe went to the pro bowl this year in his 2nd year..

Look I like the guy. I think He's a good fit for the new hybrid nickel and dime defenses teams are going to. But I just don' see starter size. I don' think his pass rush will translate well in the nfl. I do however like his motor and his instincts. I think he makes the NFL but as a backup. You want these small lbs to be able to cover te's. He' too short. Also no team is going to use him like Lawrence Taylor and let him blitz every other play

Prez we don’t necessarily need him as a starter, we need him because he could be a piece on a championship style of defense, he’s got more than motor and instincts..what about his play speed?...what about his heart, what about his versatility.? What about that we can get him with a fourth?

My hype comes on the scenario that we could get a steal of a player.

He does seem like the type of guy the patriots always have like ten of. They aren't starters, but they always do their job when called upon. And do it well.

He can guard TE's just fine. Sure, he's a little shorter than them, but they aren't going to get any separation from him. That in itself will reduce TE targets and receptions... and the "jump ball" styles that do get caught over him will not have any YAC.

I'm perfectly fine drafting him third day for all the reasons you stated.first two days let's go for all pros.

Our best shot in drafting an All Pro appears to be in the 5th round based on our history lol...

Here’s the thing... with a player like him... it gives you so much defensive flexibility. If he’s your WLB... you can run the same personnel for both base defense and big nickel by being able to flex him out into the slot. His twin is a CB, and he’s great in coverage himself... with 13 PBU’s on 42 targets. He can be a chase, hit, and blitz monster, and can cover. A little bigger and 2 hands and the guy is a 1st rounder.

I don’t think he’ll make it to Day 3. But if we are somehow able to get him on Day 3... we’ll be laughing all the way to the bank at the rest of the league. We shouldn’t wait that long though...

Folks don’t seem to realize that this kid has hi level football instincts running through his veins.he sees things develop faster which gets his body into position to make plays..that’s how you overcome size..

Last player that was undersized with comparable instincts where lots of folks told me he wouldn’t be great..Tyrann Matthieu..

We want play big nickel more. Were in nickel or dime 65 % of the time now. My understanding is we will be in it more next season...maybe 75% or 80 %. McDonald would be the safety that drops down replacing the wlb

Well... the only thing about this is that our personnel package would give away our intent to roll out a big nickel look on a particular play. Griffin being a LB... can keep us in a base look or a big nickel look.

Most likely, we’d use a combo of both. That said... if we are actively intending on being more in big nickel... I think adding a player like Griffin would present even more value than if we weren’t.

Give me Derwin James and Shaquem in the draft and I will be a happy man. Our locker room needs a culture change. To me, that wins games more than anything else. You have to want it more than the guy you're up against.

4.3 is pretty sick. Same as his brother ran and he has 30 additional pounds. I think he might have worked himself into the 3rd round

    Slightly left of center
Wouldn't it be sweet if we used the pick we got for Ajayi on him. He really is a prototypical S/LB tweener. That said after the combine I think he gets picked earlier, maybe our earlier 4th would get it but I could see a team with an extra third take a chance.

Not really. I had him as a backup. He still has problems shedding blockers and in the NFL a ot of running backs don' go down on first contact so not being able to grab is going to hurt him. Still that kind of speed is impressive

So... CK compiled a bunch of data on the pass rush efficiency for all of the pass rushers in this draft. Here is how they panned out:

Shaquem Griffin was the most efficient pass rusher in this entire draft class. Also, he noted that if you dive further into his numbers... his efficiency was 22% from the left and 21% from the right, and split pass rushes from left and right almost equally (slightly more from the right than the left) which he found really interesting, and noted:

"This really contradicts what I've seen some coaches say about them needing to pass rush him only from one particular side because of his not having a left hand."

I'm just going to post this breakdown. The video is somewhat long, so I am starting it about half way through. Just watch the last half of this vid breaking him down against Auburn...

You've all seen his spin move by now (if not, here it is)...

...so the move at 10:29 of that breakdown video is just filthy, lol...
