The 49ers and QB Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed to a five-year, $137.5 million contract, source says. The biggest deal in NFL history on a average-per-year basis. - Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) February 8, 2018 http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...polo-to-5-year-contract/ar-BBIS70i?li=BBnb7Kz
How do you go from just witnessing a Super Bowl where the Eagles won with a well-rounded roster and backup QB to a mindset where you make your relatively young and inexperienced QB the highest paid player in the NFL? Jesus ****ing Christ, Lynch.
I'll split hairs here and say there's a difference b/w what he is worth, and what he'll get from a desperate organization.
Obviously this is an outrageous amount to pay for a QB who has started only 7 NFL games. Yet I always thought he was the second best QB in the AFC East, even though he was only a backup in NE. If a very mediocre Tannehill is being paid the millions he will be getting next year. A much better Garropolo is certainly worth several million more dollars a year than Tannehill.
RT will be around the 17th highest paid QB in the league next season and could be even lower depending on what QB's like Cousins and Brees get. Next season Garop will most likely be the highest paid QB in the league and has started 7 games and you're OK with that. Man, your delusions and hatred towards your own team and their QB is mind boggling.
The more I think on this comment, I think it is brilliantly-written sarcasm and that it worked. It can't possibly be taken at face value. Can it?
Since I have been a Dolphin supporter since 1966 and attended well over 300 games while I was living in South Florida, I certainly don’t hate the team. I just feel that Tannebaum is not qualified to be in his position and Tannehill is nothing but a mediocre QB . Sorry if you don’t agree with my opinion but my view on these individuals certainly doesn’t make me a Dolphin hater. I merely would love to see a better replacement for Tannebaum and a legitimate franchise QB in Miami. I want the Dolphins to win a SB and I don’t think that is possible with these two filling the positions they now have with the Dolphins.
This narrative that we can't win a SB with Tannehill is absurd. The team built around him is the #1 factor. Any time, any day, I'll take a smart & accurate QB, and that's what Tannehill is. Bring me a consistent, competent offensive line, a staunch defense, and that smart & accurate QB, and we'll be competing for the playoffs and be a SB contender every season. This isn't some fantasy football roster, which is how I feel Gase treats at times by paying too much attention to the QB and offensive weapons. You must build from the LOS out on both sides of the ball.
I do agree that the Dolphins need to drastically upgrade their OL and defense, but that doesn’t change my view regarding Tannehill. I think he has had plenty of time to show who he is as an NFL QB and to me he has proved to be a very average NFL QB. While he can play well at times, he also has been below average just as often. It is only some Miami fans who actually are impressed by Tannehill as an NFL QB. Around the NFL, he just isn’t seen as a difference maker at the QB position. He is rated in the bottom half of starting QB’s in the NFL. If you are happy with mediocre, Tannehill is your right QB. Personally I would love to see the Dolphins draft a QB in the first round and start building for the future. It is going to take them at least 3 years to fill most of the needs on this team and I don’t expect Tannehill to still be on the team by the time this team eventually becomes a legitimate SB contender.
"Happy with a mediocre QB" . . . dude, GTFOH. I'm simply a Dolphin fan, not a fanatic, but they are my one and only team. I also primarily view this team from an outside the box perspective, so I'm not wearing blinders when evaluating them. You seem to come from the #QBwinz theory universe on how a football team needs to be successful. And although it's the most important position, it's not the team's savior by any means. I also imagine you're unable to breakdown film and your knowledge of what a QB's responsibilities truly are and how dependent they are on total team play are lacking, so your judgements on him mean very little to me, because you're not capable of understanding the game at a competent level. Might I suggest, stick to fantasy football where QB's dominant the landscape. . . or learn more about the game you enjoy following.
You mean the team is important also? Here I thought that all that mattered was the quarterback. Quit using logic!
I'm sorry, but this move has high potential of blowing up in the 49ers' face. With the exception of Matt Cassel (who is okay at best), every single QB that is signed away from New England sucked. And now 49ers are going to throw that much money at Garoppolo because he did okay during a seven game stretch? Yeah, Jimmy G is going to have to put some very good numbers to justify that.
