Today around 1:30 I think it was, my modem randomly started being crappy and my internet connection was lost. I called customer service and they didn't do squat in helping out so now I turn to you guys. My moden is a black Westell and on the side, some of the colors are solid green/yellow. The Power obviously and the USB are solid. The DSL is blinking but Ethernet and Internet are not light up at all. I've tried many things such as unplugging the power adaptor cable and turning off my computer but can't get it to work. Does anyone have any tips on how I could get this crap fixed? Thanks in advance. Btw, I'm typing this on my mom's computer which is really slow lol.
Is it a cable modem and if so is there a splitter from the wall to your TV and Modem? My splitter went bad on me a month ago and a $9 trip to Home Depot got me up and running again.
There's a filter that has the phone cable and HNP DSL cable in it. The filter is in the phone jack. That's it lol.
Flux capacitor? Only things I've done are the resetting of the modem and unplugging of the power adaptor cable. Oh yeah and I've turned off and restarted my computer about six times lol.
Try shutting off the computer and removing the card, then restart the computer without the card, shut off, and re install the card. And when my connection got grappy, I pulled the power on the DSlL modem and the router, replug the modem in, wait for a minute, then replug the router in. Or you could just go to Control Panel, then system then devices and see if your card is being read.... Best of luck Alen 1!
hahahaha, on dailup... Alen, sounds like you lost service.. do you have a dailtone on the line? When you had them on the phone they should have run a diagnostic...
They ran some tests and did nothing. Bellsouth, ATTT or whatever the heck they're called now are terrible. The freakin' guy said he'd call me back LOL.
Thanks Padre31. I'm not aware of the card your talking about but I did pull the power out and replugged it in but still had no luck.
I am lost, is this dial-up or Cable Modem? The one downside I have found with Cable Internet is that I have gone through 3 (On my third now) Cable Modems..and they have been 3 different brands. One thing that has helped me in the past is a reset button that all Cable Modem's have. If you have a router, another thing you can try is plugging straght from line-in to one of the ports in the back- that is bypass the computer and Cable Modem. If it lights up that jack light, chances are pretty darn good its the cable modem. I will check back in here later and see how its going

Did you fix it? When things go crazy like that, just unplug the modem for a few sec then plug it back in. If your Internet light isnt lighting up it is usually the ISP and they are just having some problems and you should be back up within a short while....might take a few hours though... NEVER really expect the ISP to admit its them...if they do that gives you the right to ask for a credit and they dont want that
No luck fixing it. I'll have to see tomorrow if the internet is back up. I hope its their problem because it randomly shut off in the afternoon. I didn't even receive like a hint that it would go down or anything. There was a lot of rain today though but the customer service guy said that no one lost connection n my area.
