Anyone have any info or input besides rotoworld on the WR battle in Philly? Like I metioned before, I have Curtis and when he herniated himself I picked up Jackson as an insurance policy and unfortunately a starter for Week 1 and 2. I know Baskett has more experience and has been in the league longer then DJack. Now Im reading that hes been having a really good camp. So my question is what do you think the order will be when Reggie Brown comes back? I'm hoping that DJack is the number 2 to Brown's 1. Anyone think Baskett takes the job and I should think about switching to him for the first 2 weeks? BTW, I say the first 2 weeks because one of these guys is holding down Brandon Marshalls spot.
Lol, well I replaced Curtis with Marshall so I can't help you there. I think Baskett will get the nod unless Jackson really surprises. McNabb knows him longer, he's had some flashes, and that's what'll count most. Even then, you'd need to wait for Week 1 to really know.
Well I just picked up Baskett incase so I can monitor the situation. I bounced Rob MyBironas and Leon Washington for the time being but I really need to watch my WRs till I get Marshall back in Week 3.
I'd put my money on Baskett being the number two after Reggie Brown (assuming he's healthy) and then Jackson in the slot. The thing about Jackson is that he will likely get many looks. He's going to be the punt returner, likely slot and he could have some trickery plays. If I was you, I'd wait til the end of the next pre-season game, if you can wait that long. I know Jackson has looked good in each pre-season game with 5 grabs for 53 yards and 7 grabs for 71 yards. He's played with the backups but has gotten nice separation. EDIT: I'm not really good with this fantasy stuff but can't you put Jackson as the wide receiver/returner position?
Did some diggin' on the Eagles receiver situation and came across this from Matt Mosley's blog of ESPN. On the receiver situation: On who could be the top target in Philadelphia this season: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfceast/0-2-103/Thursday-column--Could-L-J--Smith-save-the-Birds-.html And this. Who Will Step Up From The WR's? http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfceast/0-2-101/Scouts-Inc---Who-will-step-up-in-Curtis--absence-.html
My WRs consist of Fitz Marshall Curtis Burleson Kevin Walter Deshaun Jackson Baskett Notable FAs Gage Roydell Williams Arnaz Battle Mark Clayton Antonio Bryant Bobby Wade Steve Smith (not that one) James Jones Wilford Josh Reed Hagan Hilliard Matt Jones
Well, then I guess you don't have many options then. Gage is intriguing as a sleeper but certainly no better than what you have now.
I couldnt leave either of them out there so I figured it was best to scoop them both up for the time being. BTW, theres no return spot in FF Alen, I wish.
I like Kevin Walter as a sleeper. But not enough to blindly start him Week 1. My Week 1 lineup would be: Fitz Burleson (fingers crossed) Baskett, DJack or Walter
If you can add a receiver, get Ben Obamanu from Seattle. He'll likely be in place of Branch and Engram who are injured and some FF experts have predicted him to be a sleeper with 800 yards receiving this year. I think Walters' the number two guy in Houston.
Yea but I dont really want to start Burleson with Obamu when I could start him with DJack or Baskett. Dont want to rely too heavily on Sea.
Ooo ok. Here's a list of fifty things this guy is predicting for FF. I don't know who the hell he is but this is what he said. http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=tmr080821
FWIW, I went with DeSean Jackson over Baskett on my team. McNabb is kind of like Tom Brady in that his favorite WR is whoever's open. Jackson can get open, especially coming out of the slot.
Well Game 3: DJack 4rec 67yds Punt Return TD Baskett 2rec 15yds (had a TD but was reversed) Thats all in the first half. Again, Jackson looking dominant.
So, I was right? Again? Jackson has the talent to be a major offensive force in this league. I'm not sure what his ceiling is or who he compares to, and I think Limas Sweed will wind up being the better overall receiver, but there's major potential there. No time like the present to grab him, especially in keeper leagues.
Just heard some stuff on DeSean Jackson. Some are expecting him to touch the ball close to 12 times a game. He had a PR for touchdown tonight.
Whered you hear the 12 touches from Alen? I hope he does. I think he's gonna be my number 3 for at least a few weeks.
Well, Rotoworld reports that Reid is giving Curtis' spot to Baskett like you guys thought. Jackson is going to the slot. I hope DJack will be the more productive of the two.
I still believe DeSean Jackson is the better option. But, since it seems D-Jack is taken in the only league I need him, time to drop Justin Gage and pick up Hank Baskett. Steve Smith, you cannot return soon enough.
