It's not the full HD wonder you get OTA but it's good enough.

I have a PS4. I've thought about looking into their service after I see how good and reliable my future broadband connection is.

Sadly, they upgraded me to the Sunday Ticket Maxx this year and I can't figure out how to actually watch games on my phone or laptop. If it wasn't a free upgrade i'd definitely be complaining.

You need the Sunday Ticket AP to watch on your phone. I did that a few times last year. For the PC, just go to DirecTV.com, and you should be able to follow the links. Its not straightforward, sadly. (assuming its the same as the last few years)

From my PC, there is a link to the Windows app store but it seems to be disabled on PC (which is ironic since Windows is officially out of the smartphone space). The only way I could get it to work was installing an Android emulator and I just didn't feel like going to all that trouble for something that might not work anymore anyway.

Anyone catch the Tim Roth series "Tin Star" on Amazon?

    If so, thoughts?

For me, I really want to like this series as I enjoy Roth's acting, but I find the writing inconsistent from episode to episode and some of the themes, characterizations, and heavies/baddies are just too cliche and "Hollywood agenda". Finding little reason to stick with it outside of Roth's Stevensonian portrayal of the character(s).

I enjoyed Shameless to start with. Very funny show.

Tin Star was into the 3rd episode before things started happening to draw me into another one. It's like every other episode does just enough to get you to watch the next one as opposed to each one elliciting a Pavlovian response to see them all.

I was actually going to say that after a few really good episodes, I haven't been as thrilled with the last couple. Predictable writing. Hoping that they figure it out as they go. Lots of shows start out that way and improve.

They also seem to be sorting out the cast. Moving some secondary cast members out, while repositioning others. Its been a smart move to give various ones their turn in the spotlight and see how it works. Not just the Seth MacFarland show every week.

GLOW on Netflix is pretty fun. Fictional show on the creation of Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

I may end up doing that. My wife is pushing hard to go with Comcast for everything when our new house is built. We'd had DirecTV since 2003 before this fall.

You think they have much left in the tank to do anything in season 2? Nevermind, dumb question; anything could be accomplished with good writing.... and we still haven't advanced to the point where GLOW is a nationally recognized wrestling league/show yet.

Great acting/characters all around I thought. Allison Brie was so annoyingly good. Betty Gilpin is a heavily underrated actress IMO. Marc Maron was impressive for someone who spends little time in front of the camera. Is this a breakthrough role for Sydelle Noel (Cherry Bang)? She has a strong presence to her.

Marc Maron did a great job of acting like Marc Maron. Which is good because he was perfect for that role.

Agreed about the good writing. I just don't see where they can go. I thought it was a good 10 episode story. I guess they could explore the other women. I enjoyed the side characters a lot and the fact that they all have different personalities.

    Me too.
Yeah they could definitely develop all the characters further..... and there's plenty of room for drama/conflict as GLOW starts to become a thing, no? Maybe it's one of these shows where you simply just go along for the ride and enjoy it for its entertainment value for a while like a Weeds, Californication, Misfits, Shameless, Rectify, Banshee, The Inbetweeners, Orange is TNB, etc.

Future Man is a very funny show, especially if you like gross out humour. It's basically about a loser working as a janitor who is the first person to reach the end of a video game, which turns out to have been a recruitment tool from the future for the ultimate soldier to save the human race. Obviously the recruitment tool didn't quite find the person they were looking for...

It's not been confirmed as renewed yet for a second season, but the first season wraps things up enough that you can watch and not be worried about ending on a cliffhanger.

I just binged watched The Good Place.

I love it. I am mad at myself for not watching week to week. Such a great show. Ted Danson and Kristin Bell are amazing in it. They both are looking like they are having so much fun playing those characters.

The twist was spoiled to me, however, it did not reduce my enjoyment of the TV show. I can only imagine what my reaction would have been in the final episode. I don't even want to say there is a twist just in case someone wants to watch it, and saying there is a huge twist feels like a spoiler. Since if you knew there was a twist, it wouldn't be a hard one to figure out.

    Funny, clever, Janet is amazing!

Janet is awesome. One of my favorite characters on TV!

I speculated the twist after the second or third episode. However, I'm not sure that the writers actually planned it that way from the start. I got a feeling that they changed gears about 25% of the way through season one, once they found their footing. I actually wasn't too sure about it at the very start, but I'm glad that I stuck with it

I haven't watched the most recent episode, but they've done a very good job in Season 2 of fleshing out the supporting characters even moreso, and finding the show's voice and personality.

If you were able to speculate after the second episode, then it does stand to reason that they had it planned out at the beginning. Watching the first season in a day, I thought it was well done how well they did it. Reading an interview the writer consulted the showrunner from Lost on how to pull off a series of twists. Which makes sense because the show has a Lost feeling.

    Season 2 is very enjoyable.

The Trolly part had me cracking up.

I'm really liking Futureman. It's a Hulu original and it's rated for mature audiences. I'm about halfway through the first season and I've had several laugh out loud moments.

I am watching Future Man now. I am also about half way through it. I like it. I don't love it. I like it enough to keep on checking it out.

I do like how they mention pop references and folklore. One of the things that take me out of zombie movies is when no one says the word zombie. I like how they mention the things it reminds me of.

Looking forward to the new Prime Show Britannia about the Romans first coming to the British Isles. Hopefully it won't digress into the mess of a soap opera that Vikings did.

Trailers are visually captivating. Chuckled at the line from the Roman general "We've invaded Hell." lol...

Here’s a pair for ya Cuch. Dark and Trapped. You’re welcome. Dark has the makings of a great time-travel series. Trapped is an Icelandic crime mystery. Awesome cinematography for both.
