I think its so funny how a few guys stepping up and solidifying positions can change the needs priority for upcoming drafts. I agree a pass rushing OLB or DE would be the new one atop our 09 draft list. Probably followed by db and wr. A monster nose tackle would be good too. I just hope that qb is not needed for a long long time, so sick of having the same needs.
hmm, why do i get the feeling knowing past precedent that we'll be trading one of our OLBs today or tomorrow?
No I doubt that. The 5th and 6th OLBs are not really anything special and our depth at ILB relies on Torbor so there's no reason to move him. None of these guys have trade value and all are integral. On the other hand Joey Thomas is probably a better player than Daniels so that's one reason he was traded (Daniels). I expect 3-4 OLB, WR, CB, and a RB to replace Ricky along with a NT to be our primary needs. Something like: 1- OLB 2- WR 2- CB 3- RB 4- NT
would you have thought daniels had any trade value as of a few days ago? i wouldn't have. not until cribbs went down. maybe sparano has a magic 8 ball and some OLB is gonna get hurt later today
The current regime likes to draft in units Jaj, it wouldn't surprise me if we went mostly Db's given the creaky nature of our secondary, and of course the #1 could go either way. As for Moses and Anderson, neither has really done very much so far, Q may have been "out there" but he hasn't been making an impact.
Draft in units? Really? I mean I can't say that's true based on one draft to re-stock immensely depleted offensive and defensive lines. I think it just happened to have been a match of need and value more than anything. I haven't seen that in their past either. Sure they may have drafted a linebacker and a defensive linemen in the same year but that's partly because the fronts are so integral that they decided to go heavily in those aspects.
